TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. We live in a generation greatly characterised by toxins of all kinds. Beyond the toxins introduced into the atmosphere and society by industries, machines and equipment, human beings create even worse toxic societies through their way of life. By creating toxic societies we eliminate one another and by recognising in one another a brother/sister and treating one another as such we eliminate human-induced toxins in our societies today. You're your brother's keeper. Keep him! He's a brother (sister), He (she) is not heavy. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. In today's Gospel, Jesus Christ expressed compassion on the crowngathered to listen to His teaching. Out of compassion He was moved to address their need. The world of today is a crowd in dare need of compassion. We're specially invited today to join Jesus Christ in being compassionate in order to attend to the needs of our world of today. Be compassionate amidst all circumstances. We're invited today to come experience the compassion of God. Many children of God today are suffering under different forms of veils that keep them away from experiencing the fullness of God's blessings for them or experiencing the full manifestation of their potentials. The worst of these veils is ignorance of the will of God. The removal of such veils frees us from any form of impairment and ailment that keeps us less than what God has destined us to be. May you experience the Divine touch of Jesus Christ and hear today the same command of Jesus Christ; EPHPHATHA, BE OPENED. Whereas unhealthy competition among people results in chaos, conflict and underdevelopment, companionship and complementing one another birth peaceful coexistence, a virtuous society and sustainable development. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. We, as human beings, are finite beings and as such we're called to adopt the life of humility and readily submission, acceptance and carrying out the will of God. We're also divine to the extent that we share in the nature and essence of God. Though formed from dust, we draw our essence and existence from God. To this effect, we must use our human will and freedom in such a way and manner that we keep close to God and His holy will so we don't loose our companionship and communion with God. This we do by allowing ourselves to be guided by the will of God even while making use of our will and freedom in our daily choices. "But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we may receive full rights of sons [and daughters of God]." (GAL. 4:4-5). Indeed, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world and the source of life, ordered world and peace, is constantly in our midst to change our world for good. Unfortunately, many hardly give Him the chance to because they fail to recognise in Him their Saviour. The people of Gennesaret did and their situations changed for the better. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. All works a no play makes Jack a dull boy, they say. Jesus Christ himself recognising this fact and even more the need for contemplative life amidst the active life instructs his apostles in today's Gospel to "come away by yourselves to a lonely place to rest". Beloved child of God, we all need this intermittent and occasional time out from the busy activities of life to be away all by ourselves to rest, to reaccess, re-evaluate, to restrategise, to seek the face and the will of God in prayers and to renew our self dedication to God, to the service of humanity and to the course/mission/purpose of our life. Don't wait for the activities of life to consume/destroy you before you take a break. The work can finish you but you cannot finish the work. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Beyond rationality, one of the basic attributes that distinguishes human beings from beasts is the ability to be compassionate. Without compassion we'll end up treating one another as mere beasts or animals do. This is because without compassion the human reasoning ability leads us more often to destroying the self and others. Today, God calls us specially to the life of compassion, love, kindness and hospitality to all. Let's heal one another and as such the world by imbibing the virtue of compassion in all we do. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Today the Creator condescends to meet His creatures. God Himself comes to His people; a people He had always searched for. He comes not to condemn them but to offer them His mercy, love and compassion. He comes to fill the emptiness of His people, to fulfil their hope and to redeem them from their lifelong enemies. In today's feast Jesus Christ comes to us as the Light that darkness couldn't overcome nor comprehend to dispel the darkness in our lives, our families, our communities, our religious institututions, and our world. Let open the gates that the King of Glory and the Light of the world may enter in.
