  • How John Swain Revolutionized Running Gear with Zip Running

Welcome to the 5th episode of Beyond the Finish Line! In this episode, host Joe Hardin sits down with John Swain, the innovative mind behind Zip Running, to uncover the story of how this groundbreaking running gear came to life.
Meet John Swain, an industrial designer with a passion for creating products that truly make a difference. John's journey began in the snowy trails as a cross-country ski racer, where he developed a keen awareness of the environmental impact of sports. This experience laid the foundation for his future endeavors in design and sustainability.
Joe and John dive deep into the challenges and triumphs of bringing the Zip Running pack from a mere concept to a fully functional product. John shares his personal connection to Zip Running and how this connection eventually led to collaboration with renowned ultrarunner Harvey Lewis, who uses the Zip Running pack in his training and races.

From moments of doubt to the unwavering determination to keep improving, John’s story is one of resilience and passion. As the founder and lead designer of Zip Running, John has high expectations for his products and continually strives for excellence.
Discover how John's background as a cross-country ski racer influenced his approach to designing running gear and his commitment to minimizing environmental impact. From the snowy trails to the running tracks, John Swain’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, innovation, and a deep respect for the environment.
