Everything is Awesome

Fellow Philadelphia podcaster, Lauren Biddle from Just Grubbin', joins Kev to chat about podcasting, blogging, and more!

Lauren is a South Jersey native who is a sports enthusiast, music lover and a professional foodie/beer critic in his own mind. He dabbles in the art of Food Truck fine dining and all that it entails…if there’s a festival in the area…he’ll find it. He has been on a life long journey to discover the perfect cheeseburger and won’t stop until he finds it.

Just Grubbin is a lifestyle blog, podcast, and webseries featuring all things food. They’re not professional chefs or anything like that, just a group of friends that absolutely love food. No, seriously, they have a problem! So of course they decided to document their food adventures. This is them, just grubbing.

Shaman Jon is this week's guest! We chat about creativity, podcasting, and more! If you can't tell, Kev 100% assumed Jon used 'Shaman' as part of his name for 95% of the show... Kev's a fool.

Like the most notable artists within any creative pursuit, songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, Shaman Jon creates music that isn't readily boxed into a single style, genre or sound. Yet once you become familiar with the way he weaves language and melody (and the powers within both) into something well beyond the sum of its parts, his songs, recordings and performances resonate with a distinctive imprint and allure all his own.

Jon's artistic mission and reach parallel his ongoing actual, musical, and spiritual journeys, which provide a map to guide the listener to a fuller understanding of the man and the music he creates. Hailed by BSharp Magazine for the way he "bring(s) a poetic sensitivity to music without losing energy or intensity [and] offers a sweet tonic for the trials and tribulations of the human heart."

At every stop Shaman Jon further absorbed a vast range of styles, modes, and inspirations into his writing and composing, digging into ethnic traditions, exploring world music, and keeping an ear to the cutting edge and the craft of popular appeal. He has wrapped it all up into a musical approach that's akin to such artists he admires as the late Chris Whitley, Tricky, Jeff Buckley, and Grant-Lee Phillips, Steve Gunn, Father John Misty but can't help but pull from his earlier aggressive grunge and 70s rock roots.

His many musical endeavors beyond his own solo, duo, trio and band endeavors have also included performing in the gamelan company Grady Cousins and the One People Voice and his longtime participation in percussion-oriented ensembles, most recently playing a blend of Brazilian samba, Afro-Cuban drumming, New Orleans second line, hip hop, funk, calypso and more in the Austin, TX-based mobile percussion squad Krakatoa.

Shaman Jon and his new band The Ritual are currently working on new songs for an upcoming record and tour.

The Wisdom Distillery is an eclectic long-form podcast much like those of Joe Rogan or Dr. Christopher Ryan or Duncan Trussell. Hosted by entrepreneur, recording artist and filmmaker, Shaman Jon, we cover a broad range of subjects that include; the arts, geopolitics, spirituality and religions, science and futurism, sexuality, music, sustainability, psychedelics as well as discuss controversial current events often from a higher level philosophical and/or spiritual viewpoint.

It's 2018 and it's our first show of the year!! We've changed our format ever so slightly and to kick it off right, we have Matt Fowler! We discuss wrestling, Matt getting into acting, and podcasting, specifically from an audio drama perspective. Be sure to check out HIS podcast, Space Ward, a short-form audio drama—it's SUPER good.

Matt Fowler is an American actor/producer who has recently worked multiple high profile projects featured in Variety Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and The LA Times. Appearances include Delusion: Lies Within, a VR series produced by Skybound Entertainment (The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, Scare Pewdewpie, etc.), MatPat's Game Lab produced by YouTube Red, and Game of Thrones: The Musical, which has had run in L.A., at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, and Off-Broadway in NY.

As a producer, Matt co-created the series Zombie Whisperer with his wife SFX Makeup Artist Kelsey Boutte, co-wrote and starred in the short film Darla which premiered at Shriekfest 2016 and is about to release his newest short film The Trapper, a western action film that he also co-stars in. He is a Vermont native and resides in Los Angeles, CA.

Space Ward is an epic neo-noir audio drama about survivors of a massive space attack... in therapy - like a cross between Mass Effect and In Treatment.

We've relaunched our Patreon! Instead of running multiple services to collect pledges for the things we do, we combined everything into ONE location. This will allow us to keep everything centralized, only ask for your support at one location, and better upgrade our entire operation. With your support, That's Entertainment and Everything is Awesome will be able to make upgrades to provide not only higher quality content but more of it.

Thank you in advance for supporting us; it means the world to Kev and Mike. If you're unable to support us on Patreon, consider subscribing to Everything is Awesome on iTunes and leaving a 5-star text review or telling a friend--your Patreon pledges, iTunes reviews, and word of mouth recommendations go a long way at helping us do bigger and cooler things, like live shows, con appearances, and creating more high-quality content.
