My very special guest today is Melissa Seideman ...

Melissa, the owner of Not Another Virtual Assistant, Inc., is a successful email marketing specialist. She initially started her business while working as a full-time high school history teacher. Despite putting in long hours after her kids went to bed, she managed to build a multi-six figure business. Melissa now works 25 hours a week and leads a team of eight.

Not Another VA specializes in various aspects of email marketing, including launches, copywriting, funnels, automation, and start-ups. Over time, Melissa increased her rates and delegated tasks to assistants to prevent burnout. She strives to be a role model for her children, demonstrating hard work and motivation through building her business while being present in their lives.

Not Another VA offers email marketing courses and services. More information can be found on their website, www.notanotherva.com.

    Key Moments:

    • Melissa started her business by selling the lessons she created as a high school teacher online. It grew from there into an email marketing business.
    • Underpricing was an initial challenge for Melissa. She had to raise her prices as she gained more experience.
    • Having a supportive spouse who took on more responsibilities at home allowed Melissa to focus on building her business.
    • Delegating tasks to assistants and a team helped Melissa achieve a better work-life balance and freed up her time.
    • Melissa's income eventually matched and surpassed her teaching salary, showing her the potential of going full-time with her business.
    • Hiring assistants and a team helped scale Melissa's business and allowed her to work less hours while generating more revenue.
    • Being open and honest with her team about how the business is doing helps build trust and support.
    • Melissa prioritizes being present for her family while still being involved in her growing business.
    • Melissa's husband continues to provide support by taking on household responsibilities.

    • EPS07:014 [Deb Fribbins] Boost Success, Reduce Stress, Thrive

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Richard Wray

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Deb Fribbins ...

Retail veteran Deb Fribbins founded DEB Developing Excellence in Business to support startups and small businesses in achieving their goals. She emphasizes the importance of planning using her 5 Ds framework: define, determine, devise, deliver, and dissect. Deb advises businesses to differentiate themselves through personality and adapt to local events. Having a dynamic website and evolving marketing plan is crucial. Her book offers practical advice based on her extensive retail experience to help entrepreneurs avoid common mistakes.

      Key Moments:

      • Being agile and adapting to local events and customer needs is important for business success, especially for small businesses. Large corporations can lose this agility.
      • Personality and differentiators are key for small businesses to compete against large corporations. They need to promote themselves, not just their products.
      • Having a marketing plan and evolving the business and website constantly is crucial to stay relevant and compete with companies like Amazon.
      • Planning is important to reduce stress. Businesses need to define goals, determine factors that affect them, devise plans, implement plans, and dissect what worked and what didn't.
      • Events and promotions tied to customer interests can draw people into stores.
      • Training and mentors can make a big difference for employees.
      • Having insurance, an ABN number, and a business plan is important from the start, even for small businesses.
      • Changing store layouts and promotions regularly can significantly increase sales.
      • Educating customers on why they need products can be more effective than just showing products.
      • Focusing on solving customer problems and making their lives easier will attract more business.

        • Corrine practices vinyasa yoga to balance her "pitta energy" and executive drive with stillness and mindfulness.
        • She believes positive thinking produces positive outcomes because there are many things outside our control, so focusing on being the light we want to see is most important.
        • Corrine's advice to her younger self would be that she "can do no wrong" and not to panic.
        • Her multicultural background and experiences growing up in a trailer park shaped her drive and ambition.
        • Corrine's work is inspired by her desire to understand and help as many people as possible through communication.

I am your Special Host Mechelle McDonald

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Racquel Collard ...

Racquel Collard empowers women in business through effective marketing strategies as the founder of SMB Marketing Solutions. With an MBA and Practising Marketer certification, she helps purpose-driven entrepreneurs create personalized marketing roadmaps. Her book, "Marketing Launchpad," released in March 2023, guides female business owners to map out successful marketing strategies.

Racquel emphasizes vision, planning, and staying focused on strategy while embracing new marketing technologies. She suggests using "Marketing Mondays" for automated content and performance tracking. Racquel prioritizes solutions over aggressive sales and refers incompatible clients to other marketers. Networking with fellow women entrepreneurs is encouraged for support and mentorship on the path to success.

          Key Moments:

          • Stay strategic and focused when adopting new marketing technologies. Don't get distracted by shiny new tools unless they fit your marketing plan and objectives.
          • Marketing works if you have a clear strategy and plan tailored to your business goals.
          • Women business owners often prefer a solution-selling approach rather than direct selling. Focus on providing value and solving their problems.
          • Have a long-term marketing plan and schedule to automate and scale your marketing efforts.
          • Measure the results and impact of your marketing to see what's working and refine your strategy.
          • Small business ownership can give women more control, flexibility and lifestyle if structured properly.
          • Networking and collaborating with other women entrepreneurs can be very supportive and beneficial.
          • Have a clear vision of where you want your business to go and map out the steps to get there. This provides motivation and focus.
          • Don't be afraid to say no to clients that are not a good fit for you. Focus on delivering amazing work for clients that you can help the best.
          • Having a structured "Marketing Monday" can help you stay on track with your marketing efforts and measure results.

          • EPS05:21 [Tai Goodwin] Twenty Years of Online Marketing

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Christine Campbell Rapin

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Tai Goodwin ...

Tai Goodwin is an experienced instructional designer, author, speaker, and marketing strategist. As the CEO of That Marketing Team, she transitioned from teaching to entrepreneurship with 20+ years of online marketing expertise. Tai launched her agency to assist overwhelmed CEOs and business owners with company and marketing tasks. She has authored "Girlfriend, It's Your Time" and co-authored "The Profitable Woman's Playbook." Tai's expertise has been recognized by prominent publications like The Huffington Post, Forbes.com, Money Magazine, Black Enterprise, and The BOSS Network.

Starting as a teacher, she ventured into entrepreneurship by offering social media services and understanding the significance of marketing and sales for business growth. As her business expanded, she focused on team building, setting standards, accountability, and empowerment. Tai aims to establish a seven-figure brand by refining her offerings, targeting specific niches, and implementing marketing automation systems.

            Key Moments:

            • Tai started her business by teaching people skills she already had in social media and online marketing. She found clients who were willing to pay for her services.
            • Tai realized that knowing how to do things on social media is different from knowing how to market. Marketing and sales are essential for a sustainable business.
            • Tai had to create a system to get a steady stream of new clients every month to build a predictable income.
            • The internet can fool people into thinking that just posting on social media will bring in clients. Effective marketing requires building a nurturing system.
            • As Tai's business grew, she had to shift from doing all the work herself to leading and managing a team. This required setting standards, holding people accountable, and providing support.
            • Hiring the right people who take ownership and initiative is an indicator that Ty has hired well.
            • Tai's current goals are to build a seven-figure brand by refining their offers, targeting the right niche clients, and implementing marketing automation.
            • Tai advises shifting from buying yourself a job to running a business and recognizing that what got you started won't scale you up.
            • Self-leadership is the first leadership needed before others will choose to invest in you.
            • Tai's website is thatmarketingteam.com where people can learn more about her services.

She co-hosts VEG Networking Canada, contributes to various platforms, and launched a content writing business for cruelty-free enterprises in 2020. Sandra advises prioritizing sustainability for trust and impact, suggesting authentic social media documentation for engagement.

Taking animal products out of operations is an initial step towards sustainability.

              Key Moments:

              • Sandra took 11 years to become fully vegan, starting with eliminating meat and seafood and finally dairy. Watching the documentary Earthlings was an inspiration.
              • Sandra followed her intuition and combined her vegan lifestyle with her writing skills to start her content business. 2020 was her most successful financial year.
              • Incorporating sustainability and cruelty-free practices into a business brings value by building trust with consumers who share the same values.
              • The vegan industry is still new and growing, with opportunities beyond just food into fashion, products and services.
              • Businesses should consider removing animal products to reduce their environmental impact and combat climate change.
              • Businesses can stand out on social media by trying different content styles and lengths, and boosting what resonates best with their audience.
              • Being transparent and documenting the highs and lows can help build a cult following, as seen with Midday Squares.
              • Short video content like Reels on Instagram can be effective even without showing your face.
              • Connecting with Sandra's content services: thecontentdoctor.co
              • Veganism can help create a community that shares core values and spreads awareness

              • EPS05:20 [Laura Sauter] Staying The Course

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Christine Campbell Rapin

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Laura Sauter ...

Laura Sauter is a seasoned brand expert, educator, and speaker, helping entrepreneurs and established company founders navigate corporate transitions. She has consulted for multinational and smaller companies like Fidelity, Biogen, and TJX. When not transforming brands, she enjoys yoga, art galleries, and hiking with her "attack poodle" Zizu.

Starting her own agency after her husband's job offer was rescinded, Laura realized the value of including brand strategy, attracting long-term clients. She aims to tackle larger projects and expand her agency globally.

                Key Moments:

                • Laura started her own business out of necessity when her husband's job offer was rescinded after 9/11. She had to figure things out on her own as an "accidental entrepreneur."
                • In the beginning, Laura built her clientele by networking through local organizations, offering professional development workshops, and asking questions of her network and clients. She tapped into her fearless and curious side.
                • In the early days, Laura had to learn how to balance sales, marketing, and client work while doing everything herself as a solopreneur. She implemented a "power of 10" strategy of 10 client outreaches per day.
                • Laura initially focused on brand design work but realized her strength was in brand strategy. She started charging separately for brand strategy which led to longer-term client relationships.
                • Laura now focuses on setting up new companies for success with strategic brand development and positioning before doing any design work.
                • Laura now includes brand protection and support for the first 6-12 months as part of her client packages instead of making it optional.
                • Laura is now looking to take on larger, more complex projects using the experience and team she has built.
                • Laura's business, Agency Bell, can be found at agencybell1l.com and on social media.
                • Laura misses doing international projects and working with clients from different backgrounds.
                • The key takeaway is that Laura's journey from "accidental entrepreneur" to seasoned brand strategist shows the growth and evolution possible for any business owner.

My very special guest today is Dean Salakas ...

Dean Salakas, the Chief Party Dude at The Party People, is a renowned retail leader. He pioneered online party retailing in 1999, offering click and collect services and becoming Google Australia's first advertiser. Dean's focus on branding and personal promotion has driven the rapid growth of The Party People.

Despite turning down a deal on Shark Tank Australia, he remains committed to constantly evolving and learning from others. Dean's passion lies in serving customers and helping them create unforgettable parties.

                  Key Moments:

                  • Dean started The Party People business with his mom who was a clown and did kids parties. They later expanded into a party store.
                  • The tipping point for growth came when Dean and his brother took over the business in 2007 and focused on digital strategies like Google AdWords. This led to triple digit growth.
                  • Dean looks for opportunities in change rather than seeing change as a problem. Every change has an opportunity.
                  • Dean uses an environmentally friendly approach to parties to capitalize on the green agenda, not just greenwashing.
                  • Dean turned down an offer on Shark Tank Australia in 2015 because the valuation was too low for him.
                  • Dean was named Retail Leader of the Year which he sees as a pat on the back for the hard work.
                  • Building a personal brand through things like podcasts and media exposure has helped grow the business.
                  • Dean constantly evolves himself and the business to keep up with the changing needs as the business scales.
                  • Dean pays it forward by helping others without expecting anything in return.
                  • Dean is looking to consolidate independent party stores through acquisitions to scale aggressively.

My very special guest today is Gregory Mohr ...

Greg Mohr is a successful entrepreneur and author of "Real Freedom," a book about franchises and building wealth. He has helped hundreds of people invest in franchise units, providing them with entrepreneurial opportunities. Greg emphasizes finding a franchise that suits one's strengths and improving weaknesses. His book offers a step-by-step guide for choosing the right franchise based on individual goals. For inquiries, contact Greg at 361-772-6401 or [email protected].

                    Key Moments:

                    • Franchises can be a good opportunity for entrepreneurship for those who don't have a unique business idea but want the freedom and control of running their own business.
                    • Greg Moore has helped many people invest in franchises and find the right fit based on their personality, skills, and goals.
                    • Franchises can start as a side hustle and grow into a full-time business if successful.
                    • Different people define "real freedom" and "wealth" differently based on their goals - from generational wealth to simply having the option to not work if they don't want to.
                    • Identifying weaknesses like sales and working to improve them is key to franchise success.
                    • Franchises come with processes and teams in place to help franchisees succeed.
                    • Greg helps clients avoid common mistakes when choosing a franchise.
                    • Franchisees should have an exit strategy and plan from the beginning, whether selling the franchise or passing it on.
                    • Greg's next book will focus on how to excel as a franchisee once someone has become one.
                    • Greg's trophies behind him recognize his success in placing the most people in franchises over the years.
