Ray Weaver is coming home to Maryland with two powerful performances this September. You can catch him at the Annapolis Songwriters Festival, running September 11 through 14, where he’ll also be leading a free songwriting workshop for festivalgoers. Then, on September 15, Ray will headline an intimate evening at Killarney House Pub in Davidsonville with A Father’s Heart—a night of music and stories benefiting EMBOLC. Seating is limited for that special event.

In our conversation today, Ray opened up about his local roots in Pasadena, how his music resonates across audiences, and the inspiration behind both his upcoming appearances and future projects. With a career that’s earned praise from legends like Rodney Crowell and taken him across Europe and the U.S., Ray continues to craft songs that connect deeply while telling stories that matter.

The Steep Canyon Rangers are headed to Annapolis for the Annapolis Songwriters Festival, bringing their acclaimed sound to Maryland Hall on September 11, 2025!

I had the chance to catch up with Aaron Burdett to talk about the upcoming show, his role as the newest member of the Rangers, and how he’s bringing a fresh voice to a band already known for pushing the boundaries of bluegrass. We also dug into the band’s songwriting process, their journey from the mountains of North Carolina to the biggest stages in music, and how they’ve managed to keep their sound both rooted in tradition and constantly evolving.

With 14 studio albums, Grammy recognition, and collaborations with Steve Martin under their belt, the Rangers have proven themselves as one of the most influential groups in Americana and bluegrass today—and now they’re bringing it all to Annapolis.

They say that most businesses don't make it five years! So what about one that makes it SEVENTY FIVE years?? Today, we are talking about Ann's Dari-Creme up in Glen Burnie outside of the Marley Station Mall!

There's a lot to unpack here, from a start in Coney Island to the change of ownership in 1976, when Howard and Thea Pinsky, along with their partner Joe, purchased the iconic "hot dog stand" based on the number of rolls purchased from a local bread distributor! Sadly, Howard passed away in 2021, but Joe and Howard's family are carrying on the tradition. Today, Joe joins us with Amy, Stacy, MaryLou, and longtime manager Cindy to talk about 75 years of goodness along Ritchie Highway. If there ever was a shining example of not messing with a good thing, Ann's is it. Spoiler, we tried to wrest a few secrets from the team, but failed miserably--so the chili, brand of dogs, and bread will remain a secret!

On August 31st, they will kick off their 75th Anniversary all day with giveaways, t-shirts, ice cream, plenty of specials, and a surprise or two. Be sure to stop by and grab a double dog (as I did), or if you dare, a triple dog!

What a great group and what a great, true legacy business in Anne Arundel County!
