Everyone loves a well-behaved dog. If you want one (or maybe yours needs a tune-up), AmericanK9 has you covered. Today we speak with Krys Ruth, a long-time dog trainer (fun fact, she trained the first ever bed bug sniffing dog) who trains dogs on a beautiful farm in Davidsonville. From chihuahuas to Irish wolfhounds, she and her team are more behaviorist than trainer as they read each dog's personality and figure out their touchpoints. In addition, she is a breeder of labs who are mostly used for service work--military, law enforcement, and psychological. We learned about some of the amazing things animals can do to help humans, and it all begins with a solid foundation of training.

American K9 even has the Sniffspot--a private dog park just for you and your pooch (and maybe a few selected friends). Krys is not a fan of public dog parks--listen and see why! Time for some math. If there are 72 crabs in a bushel, how many crabs are in 260 bushels? And for extra credit, how many crabs per person if they are one of the 1,400 or so at the 80th Annual Rotary Coffee Annapolis Crab Feast on August 1st? SPOILER: The answer is nearly a dozen!

Today, we sit down with Lisa Mam, a local realtor and the force behind organizing a feast for over 1,000 people on August 1st. We went from A to Z — from all-you-can-eat to zero waste, and a lot in between. What is required to organize this? How many crabs do you need? When does planning start? How many people make it all go?

And then we discussed the rewards for the community — grants to non-profit organizations, as well as other Annapolis Rotary initiatives. To be honest, I am not sure what the community would do without them!

Tickets are now on sale online, and some will also be available at the gate on August 1st.

Can you imagine cruising up the Bay and seeing the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse underwater? That may be an exaggeration, but sea level rise is becoming a serious threat to our cherished National landmark.

John Potvin, the lighthouse manager, has an idea. As the lighthouse becomes more susceptible to sea level rise, he wants to raise it up for generations to come. And to do that, there is a FundRAISER on August 9th featuring a lot of great food, the wonderful music from the Eastport Oyster Boys, and a special surprise from the late Jimmy Buffet! Can't make the FundRAISER? Make a donation, or take a trip out to the light to visit it firsthand. It is hands down THE best tour I have ever done anywhere! Does the light fascinate you? Do you admire it? Come on our for a fun evening on the 9th of August or book a tour. Or, if you just want to learn some very interesting things about this beacon of the Bay...

Times are changing. Forty years ago, someone with a developmental or mental disability was a candidate for institutionalized care. Today...not so much. And locally, we can thank Fello for that!

Today we speak with Jonathon Rondeau, who is the President and CEO. Their services range from day services to workforce development to residential programs for clients and their families across the Chesapeake region on the Eastern and Western Shores of Maryland.

We learned about the name change from The Arc and what sets them apart from other organizations in the same orbit.

Jonathon has had a call to help quite literally since summer camp as a youth. And from that point on, he has dedicated himself to helping our neighbors with disabilities.
