  • #526 Meet Jake Buscher
The current leadership at Americans For Fair Taxation is aging.  There is a concerted effort underway to recruit the next generation of FAIRtax leaders who will carry the FAIRtax over the finish line.  Jake Buscher is one of those new young minds recently added to the AFFT leadership team.

In this FAIRtax Power Radio special, Bob Paxton and Jade Walle sit down with Jake and explore his personal vision on why the FAIRtax needs to replace the income tax and what can be done to make that happen.

  • #525 That's All Folks
FAIRtax Power Radio started over ten years ago as a program on an internet radio station.  Over the years, it evolved into the weekly video podcast that it is today.  When co-founder Ron Maiellaro passed on, WTOB’s Bob Scarborough jumped right in to make sure we didn’t miss a beat.

Now, after ten plus years and 525 episodes, the FAIRtax Guys have decided that it’s time to end the weekly 30 minute podcast and re-direct our efforts in another direction.  Stay tuned to FAIRtax social media for announcements on when and in what format the Guys will re-appear.

  • #524 These States Get It Right
States with high state income taxes are finding out something that economists have known all along.  Income taxes are bad for business.  States that are tired of losing business and population to neighboring states that don’t tax income are looking for ways to eliminate their state income taxes.

This week the FAIRtax Guys look around the country at some of those efforts.

  • #523 More Lipstick on a Pig
Putting lipstick on a pig is a common expression for making superficial or cosmetic changes in order to make something undesirable look more attractive without actually changing its underlying nature.  AFFT president Steve Hayes made such a reference regarding two recently introduced tax reform measures.

This week, the FAIRtax Guys look at that Chairman’s Report which details why recent tax reform proposals from Senator Van Hollen of Maryland and Senator Booker of New Jersey are indeed just lipstick on a pig.

  • #522 What AI Gets Wrong About the FAIRtax
Every response you get from an artificial intelligence application comes with this warning—check this over, AI can make mistakes.

When we asked AI to simulate a conversation in which a FAIRtax supporter and an income tax supporter were trying to convince a neutral observer which system was better, AI made PLENTY of mistakes trying to defend the income tax, and the FAIRtax Guys are here to call them all out.

  • #521 A Second Revolution
July 4, 2026 will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.  That mighty document ended up freeing the American colonists from the tyranny of the British king who imposed a multitude of taxes without giving the colonists any representation.

This time around, it’s Washington DC, not the British crown, that’s imposing a crushing tax burden on the American people.  It’s time for a second Revolution, but not with guns, with hard working American taxpayers standing up and demanding an end to the income tax.

  • #520 Tax Reform Goals - Part 4
If you need a vehicle to haul heavy equipment around, you don’t buy a Ferrari.  If you want a tax system that’s simple, fair and efficient, you don’t implement an income tax.

This week, best selling author John Gaver concludes his discussion with the FAIRtax Guys on his 22 goals that an ideal tax system should meet.

  • #518 Tax Reform Goals - Part 2
One of best selling author John Gaver’s 22 goals for tax reform is that an ideal tax system should be hard to evade.  Another is that a good tax system doesn’t burden the taxpayers with exorbitant costs just to comply with the code.

These are just two of the points that Gaver discusses with the FAIRtax Guys this week as they continue their multi-part series looking at all 22 goals and determining which tax system best meets them.

This week, the FAIRtax Guys welcome Gaver to the program to begin a multi-part series in which they go over all 22 goals and see what kind of tax system meets these goals.  Here’s a hint—it’s not the income tax.
