"Expend4bles" brings back the Stallone action movie series to the big screen, even if Sly isn't the lead in this one; so is it watchable?  "Spy Kids: Armageddon" sees Zachary Levi & Gina Rodriguez take over as the spy parents of the spy kids in a movie that your own kids will love. "The Continental" streaming series may be from the world of "John Wick," but John himself is nowhere to be found. "Dumb Money" tells the fascinating true story of the Gamestop stock drama of 2021, while  "No One Will Save You" is a head-scratchingly different alien invasion movie. "The Saint of Second Chances" is about the man who came up with the infamous disco-demolition night at an MLB game in 1979. **There's much more to his story. "Still Up" is a half-hour comedy series about two insomniacs who build a relationship through late-night video chats. "The Super Models" tells the story of four supermodels who changed the industry back in the '80s and '90s by banding together.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of September 15, 2023. Despite the title that makes it seem like a supernatural horror movie, this week's big film, "A Haunting in Venice," is actually an Agatha Christie murder mystery. A Netflix movie called "Love at First Sight" turned out to be way more sweet and emotional than Andy expected it to be.A hilarious comedy, “Outlaw Johnny Black," felt like a cross between "Blazing Saddles" and "Key & Peele." A movie for the kids called "Camp Hideout" where a cranky Christopher Lloyd lets kids set up Home Alone-style fortifications at his church camp when some bad guys come to get something from a troubled teen at the camp.

A new season of the Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show" with Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston & Billy Crudup. "Kelce", is a documentary about NFL player Jason Kelce and his 2022 season with the Philadelphia Eagles on Amazon Prime Video.

The third chapter of the "Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" trilogy is just ho-hum, while the surprisingly emotional and funny movie called "Sitting in Bars with Cakes" might be the best thing Andy watched this week. Also in theaters but not screened by critics, "The Nun II" promises to bring more scares in the form of a nun. 

On streaming platforms, this week: Season 4 of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" continues the hilarious adventures of the normally forgotten crew members who make the starship run on the Paramount Plus platform.  Disney Plus’s season 2 of the animated Marvel shorts’ "I Am Groot" put the adorable baby Groot into more adorable situations. And over on Apple TV Plus, a new series called "The Changeling" promises a "fairy-tale for grownups."

Denzel Washington is back as the revenger Robert McCall, and this time, he's murdering Italian mobsters in ”The Equalizer 3”. The so-bad-it's-entertaining “Slotherhouse” is something you can watch with your friends and laugh at and make fun of. Explorations of belief vs. evidence are at the center of “Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose.” The Netflix series adaptation of the Japanese manga comic “One Piece” is basically if superheroes were in Pirates of the Caribbean. “The Good Mother”  wastes Hilary Swank and Olivia Cooke's performances by having a terrible and confusing ending. And in new seasons of streaming series, Amazon Prime Vidoe has “The Wheel of Time,” Apple TV Plus has “Invasion,” and FX/Hulu begins the final season of the animated spy sitcom “Archer.”

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of August 25, 2023. The “Gran Turismo” movie is a good adaptation/advertisement of the game's namesake. Disney continues the legacy of former Jedi Knight in the new and likable streaming series “Ahsoka.” The (mostly) true story of a kid with leg braces who dreams of playing Major League Baseball comes to the screen in "The Hill." 

Helen Mirren takes on the role of Golda Meir during the 1973 Yom Kippur War in “Golda,” While Liam Neeson takes on another action role in “Retribution.” Adam Sandler and family stars in "You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah."

But the most fascinating thing Andy watched this weekend; “BS High,” a jaw-dropping documentary about Bishop Sycamore High "School’s” sports scandal.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of August 18, 2023. A new superhero movie called “Blue Beetle,” featuring a mostly Latin American cast and a fresh feeling (for the most part) that really emphasizes family, is the latest offering for DC superhero fans. “Strays” is a VERY R-rated talking dog comedy with Will Ferrell & Jamie Foxx that mixes bodily function jokes way too liberally for my taste into a pretty sweet story with cute dogs. Netflix’s “The Monkey King” is an animated family movie that is enjoyable if not a bit frenetic. The Sundance movie “Landscape with Invisible Hand” is not nearly as rom-com-ish as the trailer would make it seem. While Hulu’s “Miguel Wants to Fight” is a comedy about a nice kid who wants to get into a fight before he moves away from his friends, that while fun, the adult language can be a bit of a downer. Amazon’s studio has similar problems with “Puppy Love” starring Grant (The Flash) Gustin and Lucy (Pretty Little Liars) Hale. While the new Amazon series  “Harlan Coben’s Shelter” is a young adult mystery for people with patience. 

Two much more family-friendly choices: Apple’s “Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie” finally lets us get to know Peppermint Patty's bespectacled friend better, and the filmed-in-Utah “Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out.”

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of August 11, 2023.  Vampire movie fans and horror movie fans should be pleased with “The Last Voyage of the Demeter,” based on a single chapter from Bram Stoker's “Dracula;” It's Dracula...on a boat! Gal Gadot is back in another action movie with a cool spy premise, “Heart of Stone” is now on Netflix. Season three of “Only Murders in the Building” makes its premiere on Hulu with guest stars Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep joining our main characters Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Steve Martin. Some smaller Sundance movies hit wider release with the humorous sci-fi exploration of future childbirth in “The Pod Generation” and “Jules,” featuring Ben Kingsley as an elderly fellow who sees a flying saucer crash in his backyard to very dry humorous results.

Also out this week is “Love in Taipei” on ParamountPlus and Andy’s guilty pleasure, “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” on HBO.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of August 4, 2023.  A fresh new (and highly enjoyable) reboot of “Teenage Mutant NinjaTurtles: Mutant Mayhem" leads this way 40 years after the original, with plenty of easter eggs for fans, and is very family-friendly. Another good choice is "Dreamin' Wild,"  a true story about two brothers who get a second chance at music fame thirty years after they thought their chance had passed.  Unfortunately, the lead character in ‘Shortcomings’ hated himself so much that Andy finally gave in and agreed with him by the end. On streaming, “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” on Amazon Prime Video has Sigourney Weaver trying out an Australian accent in this drama based on a best-selling book dealing with heavy domestic violence themes. Fans of ‘Futurama’ are happy to have another season to enjoy on Hulu (yet again.) And while they didn’t screen the larger-than-life shark action comedy, “Meg 2: The Trench” is also heading to the big screen.
