Gal Gadot is back in another action movie with a cool spy premise, “Heart of Stone” is now on Netflix. Season three of “Only Murders in the Building” makes its premiere on Hulu with guest stars Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep joining our main characters Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Steve Martin. Some smaller Sundance movies hit wider release with the humorous sci-fi exploration of future childbirth in “The Pod Generation” and “Jules,” featuring Ben Kingsley as an elderly fellow who sees a flying saucer crash in his backyard to very dry humorous results.

Also out this week is “Love in Taipei” on ParamountPlus and Andy’s guilty pleasure, “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” on HBO.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of August 4, 2023.  A fresh new (and highly enjoyable) reboot of “Teenage Mutant NinjaTurtles: Mutant Mayhem" leads this way 40 years after the original, with plenty of easter eggs for fans, and is very family-friendly. Another good choice is "Dreamin' Wild,"  a true story about two brothers who get a second chance at music fame thirty years after they thought their chance had passed.  Unfortunately, the lead character in ‘Shortcomings’ hated himself so much that Andy finally gave in and agreed with him by the end. On streaming, “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” on Amazon Prime Video has Sigourney Weaver trying out an Australian accent in this drama based on a best-selling book dealing with heavy domestic violence themes. Fans of ‘Futurama’ are happy to have another season to enjoy on Hulu (yet again.) And while they didn’t screen the larger-than-life shark action comedy, “Meg 2: The Trench” is also heading to the big screen.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of July 28, 2023.  Fans of Disney's Haunted Mansion ride will probably love the latest “Haunted Mansion” movie, but what about  Non-Disney fans? It's a tougher sell. There is a highly fictionalized movie about the people behind the Beanie Babies craze in the 1990s called "The Beanie Bubble". (Spoiler: Ty Toys does not come off well.)  A Sundance 2023 film hits wide release, “Theater Camp,” starring Ben Platt, and is full of funny moments and characters. On Netflix, there are two new movies this week “Happiness For Beginners,” based on the book of the same name, about Ellie Kemper's character going to re-center herself on an extended backpacking trip; and younger kids are beside themselves excited to watch “Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie.” Also available to watch, a new horror movie called “Talk To Me” that’s pretty terrifying and dark,  a hyper-violent comedic action series on PeacockTV based on the “Twisted Metal” video game series, and a reunion movie of the mid-2000's show “Zoey101” cast called “Zoey 102” on ParamountPlus.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of July 21, 2023.  It's a “Barbie” world this weekend with the really funny eponymously-named movie, complete with colorful sets and just about every perspective on Barbie playfully presented at some point. Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling are outstanding as the titular Barbie and her boyfriend Ken in a surprisingly moving movie about the plastic doll. But we can't forget the second portion of the "Barbenheimer" double feature; Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and much more than just the creation of the first atomic bomb. There is also the new comedy from JK Studios (the original Studio C cast) called “Go West,” which is an enjoyable comedy to prepare for Pioneer Day here in Utah. For sports fans, there are entertaining documentaries available to stream: one about Stephen Curry called "Stephen Curry: Underrated” on Apple TV+, and one about Wilt Chamberlain called "Goliath" on Paramount+. Also streaming is the comedy “They Cloned Tyrone” on Netflix, and the return of Timothy Olyphant's character Raylan Givens with "Justified: City Primeval" on Hulu.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of July 14, 2023.  It's Tom Cruise leading the way again with the most enjoyable movie of the summer, ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” Andy does not want to give away too much about this much-anticipated film, but he will let you know… he loved it! And there is a well-made drama called ‘The Miracle Club’ starring Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates & Laura Linney also hits the big screen. 

In the streaming world, Netflix’ “Bird Box Barcelona” is a darker more gruesome sequel than its 2018 predecessor. On Netflix, Season 2 of the hilarious streaming series ‘The Afterparty’ is available with the addition of maybe the funniest actor in Hollywood today, Paul Walter Hauser. For your football fix, Netflix has their “Quarterback” series following Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins & Marcus Mariota thru the 2022 season. But If you are looking for some a new suspense thriller series, ‘Full Circle’ on Max takes a bit to get going and gets very interesting once it does. And season 2 of the series “Foundation,” based on the story by Isaac Asimov, is up on Apple Plus.

It's a solid end to the 42-year-old action/adventure franchise.“Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken”  is a fun and colorful animated movie from Dreamworks that follows a teenage girl, who just happens to be a mythical sea creature. “Nimona” is also a fun animated feature with a layered story and a good message about the effects of how we choose to treat others who are different from us. Over on ApplePlus, “Hijack,” starring Idris Elba, is a tense, thrilling new series that is full of surprising twists. Also streaming this week is new seasons of “Jack Ryan” on Amazon Prime and “The Witcher” on Netflix, streaming.

Wes Anderson continues his quirky streak with “Asteroid City” with an impressive cast and his signature look. But the stylistic film might not be for some audiences. Over on DisneyPlus, the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with the TV miniseries “Secret Invasion,”  where Samuel L. Jackson returns to the role of Nick Fury, former head of the superhero spy organization ‘Shield.’ Then in theaters is the R-rated comedy “No Hard Feelings,” where you will have to watch the trailer before deciding on seeing the raunchy movie. Something decidedly more family-friendly is “World's Best” over on DisneyPlus. And finally, we have a return to the monsterverse in the animated Netflix series in the world of ‘King Kong vs. Godzilla,’ ‘Skull Island’ season one.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of June 16, 2023.  Two big movies are opening against each other; Warner Brothers’ "The Flash" and Disney’s "Elemental” is setting up a divisive weekend at the box office. The DC Superhero is a very enjoyable, though not perfect superhero movie that also brings back Michael Keaton as Batman. The animated Pixar film’s sincere story about the immigrant experience has some amazing visuals, but a few head-scratching moments near the end. “Elemental” also boasts an excellent animated short before the movie starts called "Carl's Date" with old man Carl from "Up" and his dog named Dug. (Don’t miss Producer KellieAnn's quick take on both “The Flash” and “Elemental” after Andy’s segment.)

Other options include the start of season 2 of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” streaming on Paramount Plus; the very interesting Netflix documentary “Arnold” about Arnold Schwarzenegger; Chris Hemsworth's "Extraction 2" on Netflix; The horror comedy "The Blackening" in theaters; and another documentary streaming about “Stan Lee,” this time on DisneyPlus.  And
