In this episode of Fanachu! sisters Florence and Lilian Cruz share the story of their father Ignacio Candaso Cruz, who was trained with dozens of others by the US Navy as a medical assistant after World War II. The story of these medical assistants has largely gone untold in Guam History books.

This episode is the second roundtable table discussion on sustaining Micronesian seafaring and navigation traditions in 2022 hosted by Fanachu! This roundtable series was inspired by the work of 500 Sails in the CNMI and Såkman Chamorro in San Diego, California. 

Recognized masters of seafaring from Micronesia who participated are: Ali Haleyalur, Mario Benito, Tony Pialug, Cecilio Raiukiulipiy and Sesario Sewralur.
