This week, due to GREAT circumstances beyond our control, Derrick Veurink is filling in for co-host Blake Ginithan, and thanks to the programming at The Sioux Falls State Theatre, we’re celebrating PRIDE MONTH!!! Andy and Derrick take a look at one of the greatest American documentaries of the 20th century, Paris Is Burning. The two discuss the film’s enduring legacy and its continual impact on the LGBTQ+ community, acknowledging both the sense of celebration in the film and the heartbreaking tragedy of lives lost during that era.

Pardon the Interruption! It’s time for a Criterion Break!!!
On this week’s episode, we provide the shock and awe of, “Yes, this IS in the collection,” with 1987’s action classic, Robocop. It may have gone out of print quickly, but it is still a highly sought after commodity and a much beloved film. Blake and Andy sat down in the offices of the Sioux Falls State Theatre to discuss the film and its legacy, and were joined once again by Derrick Veurink.

On this week’s episode, another weekend of awesome programming at The Sioux Falls State Theatre leads to a screening we never anticipated: Blake and Andy were able to catch the 4K restoration of Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru with special guest and friend of the show, Back Lot 605’s Derrick Veurink. The three discuss Kurosawa and their immediate reactions to the film, and how its message speaks to them in different ways.

This week, Andy and Blake return after a (gasp!) 3 month long absence with a change of plans, thanks to the programming at the Sioux Falls State Theatre. The two dive into David Lynch’s debut feature, Eraserhead. While both hosts have seen the film before, neither had previously seen it on the big screen. The two talk symbolism, fatherhood, and the grotesque, while discovering a respect — if not admiration — for Lynch’s cult classic.

This week, we’ve hit a landmark: it’s episode 100!!!
While twenty-something episodes have been lost to technology, there have still been 100 hundred episodes of “Fat Dude Digs Flicks: Let’s Taco ‘Bout,” in one format or another. To celebrate, we’re flipping the script. This week’s episode is hosted by the voice of Midwest All-Pro Wrestling, Charlie Eccles (@wrestlingvoice1), and Andy — your resident Fat Dude — is moving into the guest’s chair. The two chat for 3 HOURS about Andy’s journeyman childhood, theatrical education, the importance of family, and where this love for movies comes from. The two then take a deep dive into The Fat Dude’s surprise selection, where Andy not only describes why he selected it, but why he unironically adores it.
