As I get older, I find that it is the little things that truly move me. This episode was a needed moving experience. On this week’s episode, I am joined by Robert L. Dunman III, one of my dearest friends from high school. We chat about growing up and how fast it happens, faith and spirituality, and reminisce about how much those days in high school theater meant to us, not only because of the love for what we were doing, but because of how close it brought all of together. It’s clear that Robbie’s choice of film could not be more appropriate, as we dive into the 1985 John Hughes’ classic, The Breakfast Club.

This week on the program, The Fat Dude is joined by Back Lot 605 contributor, Derrick Veurink. Derrick and I talk about how moms like to coordinate friendships, collecting physical media, and dairy farming. We also talk about Derrick’s wealth of movie trivia before diving into the 1980 comedy classic that Derrick aptly calls “the greatest action musical comedy of all time,” The Blues Brothers.

You can follow Derrick as part of BackLot605 on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You can also check out their podcast anywhere pods can be caught such as Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, or Amazon Music. Also check out the website at BackLot605.com.

This week’s episode, The Fat Dude journeys to the hereafter with Devin Basart, local theater dynamite, as they discuss the 1998 Robin Williams starrer, What Dreams May Come. The two also, of course, chat about theater, how the art of the misdirect and collaboration can spark great friendships, the magnitude of show choir in the Midwest, and how Devondra met the world.

You can follow Devin on Facebook, and while you’re there, but sure to check out The Good Night Theatre Collective, as well. Also, please check out The Trevor Project at TheTrevorProject.org, and This Is Me.

On this week's program, The Fat Dude is joined by Cory Jacobsen, the brains behind @SomewhatRandomMovieCollection on Instagram, and one of the hosts of the all new This Movie's History podcast. We discuss journalism and theatre majors and how those don’t always pan out, the glory of independent video stores, the lesser years of our lives that helped shape who we became, and how Shock Treatment is under-appreciated. Our deeper conversation carries into our discussion of this week’s movie, Pump Up The Volume, a movie that did, in fact, encourage us to Talk Hard!

On this week’s episode, The Fat Dude is joined by Dan Davis. This week, we don’t just talk about a movie our guest loves; we talk about a movie that has helped shaped so much of his life. Dan’s love for 1984’s The Karate Kid led him to a lifelong appreciation for martial arts, as well as a stint as a professional bodybuilder. This week, we talk about Dan’s journey and how he actually got to thank members of the film’s cast.

On this week's episode, The Fat Dude is joined by one of the subjects of the hit Apple Films/A24 documentary, Boys State, Steven Garza. The two talk roots, politics, and... professional wrestling?!?! Steven also provides his perspective on being followed by a film crew for one whole week during the Texas Boys State program, the relationships between himself and the other subjects, and how a movie like this finds its audience during a global pandemic.

The Sundance Film Festival award-winning documentary, Boys State, can be found on AppleTV+. You can also follow Steven Garza on Twitter @stevenagarza.
