On this week’s episode, it’s time for another stroll down memory lane. The Fat Dude journeys way back to eighth grade — the fall of 1994 — to chat with one of his first Texas friends, Charles Hollman. Andy and Charles talk about basketball, being the new kid in town, and taking the voyage to various Carnivale celebrations around the globe. The two then change pace and talk conspiracies and Oliver Stone’s 1991 classic, JFK.

On this week’s episode, it is another trek down memory lane when the Fat Dude is joined by Brad Redick. Brad and Andy reminisce about that time they almost died, living in an apartment complex where people died, and how someone integral to a segment of their lives died. But it’s not all about death! No no! The two remember the good times about surviving high school, going to prom, and realizing that sometimes college is more about the experiences you have instead of the classes you are supposed to attend. Brad and Andy catch up on life, before taking a brief look back at 1998’s Rounders and the impact it had on their lives back in the day, whether the movie holds up or not.
You can find Brad on the Human Dads podcast anywhere you get your podcasts.

On Monday, March 15th, the nominations for the 93rd Annual Academy Awards were announced. As is the case every year, I had some opinions. This year, instead of ranting to myself in my car, I enlisted the help of fellow awards season fanatic, local actress and Marvel/Disney/movie buff, Jess Johannsen, to help me sort through the nominees. We offer our thoughts on what made us happy, what disappointed us, and where we stand on nomination leader, Mank.
You can see what projects Jess is up to and all of happenings going on with The Good Night Theatre Collective by checking them out across social media. Good Night has been able to keep theatre alive during the pandemic thanks to creative adaptation. See what they are up to next!

The two discuss Steven’s history of movie-loving, as well as his journey to helping bring The State back to life Steven discusses the process involved with booking films for the theater, and future plans on what kind of films The State will be showing in the future. To change things up a bit, Steven and The Fat Dude discuss some of their favorite composers and film scores, and how a great score can make even the best, most entertaining movies, even better.

On this week’s episode. The Fat Dude is joined by Sioux Falls performing artist extraordinaire, Debbi Jones. Debbi is an actor, singer, dancer, comedian, director, and could probably build a theater from the ground up if she had to. The two chat about how Debbi came to love every aspect of the performing arts and how that led to her current project, directing The Odd Could (The Female Version) for the Sioux Empire Community Theatre. Debbi’s featured movie this week is the modern comedy classic, Easy A, starring Emma Stone.
As mentioned, you can next see Debbi’s directorial handiwork on stage at the historic Orpheum theater in Sioux Falls with The Odd Couple (The Female Version), opening March 4 and running through March 14. You can find more information, including how to get tickets, at SiouxFallsTheatre.com.
