FKOF Promo!

Having not really thought about it, it's a bit of a surprise that there are only a handful of records in our digital catalogue that are collaborative projects. FKOFd020 reimagined FKOFd006 with four different remixers, FKOFd030 was four tunes from four artists, we've had one or two collabs or remixes dotted about. But it wasn't until Roklem & Sebalo's FKOFd039 that we properly got a release that ably demonstrated the skills of more than one producer on a record. As it happens, our next digital EP is more of that vibe. Four tracks (and one free download) from two artists from different sides of the planet.

'FKOFd045' is available from the FKOFd Bandcamp tomorrow and @junodownload next Friday, 12/06/20, and will be available from all good electronic retailers two weeks later. Hit the buy link to pre-order the release...

1. Crowley - Stoic

2. Crowley - Luz:Daze Dub

3. Crowley & e s p - Rosetta

4. e s p - Jah

5. e s p - Molotov [FKOF Free Download]

"'FKOFd045' came about in a pretty FatKidOnFire family way. I had been chatting to @11th_Hour as we prepped his solo debut and he recommended a Rottterdam-based artist called @Crowley_nl. Having not come across his tunes before, we got in touch - as it happens, Olaf's based in the RTM so turns out there was common ground. Sven sent some tunes over and a collab with @e_s_p_beats - who's based in Australia - caught my ear. One thing led to another, and here we have our next release.

"We open with Crowley's 'Stoic', which sets the tone for what follows. Swing, vibe and a whole lot of groove. It launches with atmospheric horns before rolling into a stripped-back stepper affair. Check the second drop for the rowdiness. Next up, we've the aptly-titled 'Luz:Daze Dub'. Think 4am on a summer's morning as the sun starts to rise, or last tune to wrap a proper night at the West Indian Centre. Banger. We then move into the collab tune, 'Rosetta', which takes things down a notch and brings back the grime. This is old/ new school bassweight at its best. One for the subs. As is 'Jah', the final tune on the EP - and e s p's solo effort. Beats, bass and space with much of that groove that really defines this record. If you enjoy these four, you'll likely dig e s p's 'Molotov', which we're giving away to celebrate the EP. Sound system music, as you know we do. Out to Crowley and e s p!

"First off, thanks need to go to 11th Hour. Cheers for the heads up on this one, dude! It's nice to see music still capable of bringing people together - Rotterdam and Brisbane, via London and now onto you all. Both these producers are destined for big things, and we're really excited to bring you this celebration of why!"

The @simply-deep team gears up for the 24th release catalogued as 'SD024', remaining in 140 territory this time, mostly powered by the don @crimson_data. It features spectacular remixes, one of which by the German don @moosiqunt.

'Sktch' is dark, steppy and packs the right punch, therefore great for testing out a serious soundsystem. Simply Deep, together with its extended list of artists, continues to push our sound in the right direction. Keep an eye on them...

'SD024' is set for release on 05/06/2020 thru all familiar digital vendours, therefore make sure to buy the release when it's out thru the buy-link attached...

The latest @influxaudio release sees label bosses @tikandborrow return with some brand new material alongside a collab with @aztek-musik and a remix from @mungkdubs.

We've got the premiere of 'Mallet Dub' and you can grab the pre-order from the buy link. The 'Architecture EP' drops on Monday 25/5/20 and will be available from all the usual suspects.

"Tik&Borrow are back on In:flux Audio with their brand new EP 'Architecture', a release that sees the duo further expand their twist on 140 following their 2019 EPs 'Angel' and 'Functions'. On this latest offering, the lads offer up three original tracks, the first of which is a collaboration with label regular Aztek entitled 'Timelapse' - a perfect blend of both production outfits sounds - the deep dark atmospheres of Aztek and the crisp synth work of T&B.

"The next two originals on the release see Tik&Borrow back on the buttons, with 'Apexx' being a sub bass mover full of crisp drums and breakbeats whilst 'Mallet Dub' is a straight up stepper that showcases the duos love of playing fast and loose with note structure.

"On remix duty with have the mighty Mungk stepping up to put his wicked twitst on 'Apexx' - and what a result it is. A soundsystem tune if we ever heard one, this one utilises the synth sounds of the original, but then it is all Mungk as he goes all in on those LFOs to help obliterate any speaker set!"

FKOF Promo!

We’re six digital releases away from the big (FKOFd0)50. Crazy to think where we’ve got to over the last 7.5 years with the label! We’re continuing our effort to ramp up releases across FKOF Records’ digital and physical imprints over the remainder of 2020 (and beyond) and we’re really excited by the calibre and quality of material we’ve got coming. A continued big FKOF thank you to everyone supporting the music and, more importantly, our artists. So without further ado…

'FKOFd044' is available from the FKOFd Bandcamp and @junodownload next Friday, 15/05/20, and will be available from all good electronic retailers two weeks later. Hit the buy link to pre-order the release...

1. 11th Hour - Gorilla Glue

2. 11th Hour - Stryker

3. 11th Hour - Murda

4. 11th Hour - Plasmator

5. Benga & Coki - Night (11th Hour bootleg) [FKOF Free Download]

"The next FKOFd EP sees us quite literally returning to our roots. With 'FKOFd044', we welcome a producer back to the label with a solo effort which accompanies his collaborative appearance on our second ever release back at the end of 2013. @11th_Hour joined the FKOF fam on 'FKOFd002' alongside @Subreachers and has gone on to release material with Dubtastic, Mindstep and Uprise Audio. Jason comes back to FKOF Records with four massive new tracks.

"'Gorilla Glue' introduces the EP with its subtle stepper vibe; rolling along with its nicely meditative atmospheres. Next up, we have 'Stryker'. It exemplifies the damage an 11th Hour production does to the dancefloor. Gunfingers ready for the 2nd drop – it goes off! Track 3, 'Murda', is – perhaps surprisingly, given its title – not as aggressive as you’d think. But the weight does well to demonstrate 11th Hour’s abilities. The beats, bass and space recipe we’ve banged on about before are in full effect here! Last, but definitely not least, we have 'Plastmator'. Haunting soundscapes evolve into spiky synths, crisp hi-hats and waves of low end. Lovely stuff. It’s been a pleasure working with Jason on his debut solo effort on FKOF Records.

"We hope you enjoy the tunes as much as we do! Big up 11th Hour and, if you’re not already, get to know. This guy is going places! As always, keep your eyes and ears on our various platforms as we continue rolling out releases this year and please do what you can to help these artists in these uncertain times."
