FBI Director Kash Patel criticized Sheriff Chris Nanos over the handling of the investigation, including claims about delayed federal involvement and DNA evidence being sent to a private lab instead of Quantico. The Sheriff's Office pushed back, saying the FBI was notified early and that coordination began without delay.
