You know taking care of your health is important, and you have plenty of reasons to want more energy, better sleep or to lose weight. Yet somehow, when life gets busy, your own health can keep slipping further down the list.
And the longer that continues, the harder it can feel to make a change.
Some podcast conversations are worth coming back to. That's the idea behind our MVP (Most Valuable Podcast) episodes. We're revisiting selected episodes from Feel Light Mind & Body that still have something valuable to offer today.
In Choosing Your Hard, Clarenda explores why we sometimes continue with familiar habits even when we're unhappy with the results, and how the demands we place on ourselves can gradually affect our health.
You'll hear about:
You'll leave with a question worth considering about the choices you're making now and how you'd like to feel in the years ahead.

You can really want to lose weight, feel stronger and take better care of your health, and still find yourself resisting some of the things that will help you get there.
I’ve been noticing one particular belief showing up with several of my private clients lately. It sounds a little different for each woman, but it can quietly influence whether she follows through when something feels hard.
In this episode, I want you to consider what you expect taking care of yourself to feel like. Should you want to exercise? Should healthy choices feel easier by now? And if something feels difficult, what are you making that mean?
If you’ve ever known what you wanted to do and still found yourself choosing something else in the moment, this episode will give you something useful to think about.
If you’d like support getting underneath the thoughts and patterns that are making it harder to consistently follow through, book a complimentary 20-minute consult with me using the link here.

175 - Tomorrow I turn 57, and my mom turns 87 next month. That 30-year difference has me thinking about what I want those years to look like if I’m blessed to have them.
For this birthday episode, I’ve recorded an interesting intro and outro and revisited a conversation I recorded one year ago about the 4,000 Weeks framework. Another 52 of those weeks have now been lived, which makes some of the questions I asked then feel even more relevant today.
I’ll share what has changed for me over the past year, what I’m pleased with in my health, and where I want to improve. One of those areas is being more consistent with my weighted workouts so I can continue building and maintaining muscle as I get older.
I’m also taking you into something I’m doing for myself on my birthday: using the Rewire Method to understand why I’ve been resisting those workouts even though I genuinely want the results. Knowing what to do doesn’t always mean we understand what’s getting in the way of doing it.
And with a wedding, green card process and eventual move ahead of me, I know life isn’t about to become less busy. I want taking care of my body to already be a normal part of my life as those changes happen.
As you listen, think about your own next 52 weeks. How do you want to feel a year from now? And when you look further ahead, what do you want your body to still allow you to do?
Another 52 weeks starts tomorrow for me. What do you want to do with yours?
FREE GUIDED JOURNAL
I created a free Guided Journal to go along with this life review. Use the prompts to think about how you want to spend your time, what you want more or less of, the people you want to spend it with and how you want to feel in the years ahead.

174 - A weight loss plan can get results and still leave you wondering, “How am I supposed to keep doing this?”
That’s an important question, especially if you’ve lost weight before and eventually found yourself back where you started.
In Episode 174, we’re looking at how to use what you’ve learned from previous attempts without automatically going back to the same approach. Your schedule, priorities and even what your body needs can change over the years, and your approach to taking care of yourself can change too.
We’ll also talk about the balance between creating something you can continue and making enough meaningful changes to actually get the health and weight loss results you want.
If you’d like help figuring out what that could look like in your life, you can book a complimentary 20-minute consultation with me through the link here.

173 - When you’re trying to lose weight or get healthier, it makes sense to want some evidence that your efforts are paying off. But how often are you checking, and what are you using as proof?
In Episode 173, we’re talking about how to evaluate your progress in a way that actually helps you decide what to keep doing and what may need to change.
We’ll look at why one result rarely tells the whole story, how easily evaluation can turn into self-criticism, and what to pay attention to before deciding something “isn’t working.”
If you’re heading into a new season wanting to make some changes, this episode will help you approach them with more useful information instead of immediately looking for proof that you’re finally getting it right.
If you’d like some help with your own next steps, book a complimentary 20-minute consultation with me. We’ll talk about what you want to change and whether the fall Feel Light Mind & Body Experience could be a good fit.

172 - Have you reached the point where you’re just tired of thinking about weight loss?
What should I eat? Should I fast? Am I getting enough protein? Is what I’m doing actually working? And then there’s the conversation that happens in your own head when you don’t follow through exactly as planned.
In this episode, I’m talking about the mental burnout that can come from years of trying to lose weight and how much energy can be spent second-guessing your choices and criticizing yourself instead of actually taking care of yourself.
We’ll also look at why simplifying weight loss matters, while being careful that “simple” doesn’t become an excuse to overlook what’s needed to get results.
By the end, you’ll have a specific seven-day experiment to help you stop reopening one health decision you’ve already made and notice what happens in your head when things don’t go perfectly.

171 - Have you ever looked back at a time when you felt healthier, stronger and more confident and wondered, “How did I let that version of me go?”
Maybe your clothes fit differently now. Your energy has changed. Menopause, stress, retirement or life in general has affected your routines, and what worked years ago doesn’t seem to work the same way anymore.
In Episode 171, Create Your Comeback Story: Weight Loss, Energy, Self-Belief, Strength, and More, we’re looking at what happens between deciding you want something different and actually getting there.
A real comeback includes the scale going up sometimes, vacations, missed workouts, self-doubt and days when you get off track. What you do next is part of the story too.
We’ll talk about midlife changes, rebuilding self-belief and why your brain may be overlooking progress you’re already making. I’ll also share a recent coaching example and an exercise you can use to write your own realistic comeback story.
If you’re ready to get healthier and would like some help figuring out what’s keeping you stuck, book a complimentary 20-minute consult and let’s talk.

170 - One thing I've learned over the years is that most women aren't choosing to put their lives on hold.
They're simply trying to keep up.
They're juggling work, family, aging parents, relationships, appointments, responsibilities... and somewhere in the middle of all that, they keep telling themselves they'll get back to their own goals later.
The trouble is, later has a way of moving.
In this episode, we're talking about what it really means to be waiting for life. Not because you've given up, but because you've become so busy managing life that you've stopped expecting much to change until something around you changes first.
We also explore something I see often in coaching. Sometimes what feels like a lack of discipline is really two values pulling you in different directions. Once you understand that, you stop asking, "What's wrong with me?" and start asking much better questions. Questions that lead to understanding, compassion, and solutions that actually fit your life.
If you've been feeling stuck between knowing what you want and following through, I hope this conversation helps you see yourself a little differently.
And maybe it encourages you to stop waiting for the next season before deciding your life matters now.
If you'd like help figuring out what's keeping you stuck, I'd love to hop on a call with you for a complimentary 20-minute consultation. We'll simply talk about where you are, where you'd like to be, and what support would help you move forward.

169 - After visiting my daughter recently, I found myself thinking about a conversation we recorded together a few years ago. Listening back, I realized the topics are just as relevant today as they were then, so I wanted to share it with you again.
In this episode, Bri and I talk about how our relationship with food develops, the influence of the people around us, food shaming, listening to our bodies, exercise versus active living, journaling, stress, and creating healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
Whether you're a parent, grandparent, aunt, mentor, friend, or simply working on your own health journey, I hope this conversation encourages you and reminds you that the habits we model often have a greater impact than we realize.
If today's conversation leaves you wanting to go a little deeper, I've included two resources below that I think you'll find helpful.

168 - What do your children, grandchildren, or the younger people in your life notice about the way you care for yourself?
In this episode, I share several conversations that challenged the way I think about healthy aging, independence, and the example we set for those who are watching us. Together, we'll explore why more young adults are thinking ahead about their health, what many women in midlife are hoping for as they grow older, and how small choices today can influence generations to come.
This is a conversation about far more than weight. It's about protecting the life you want to keep living, creating healthy habits that last, and giving the people you love confidence as they watch you age.
You'll come away with practical encouragement, thoughtful questions to reflect on, and a renewed appreciation for the impact your own health journey can have on those around you.
And the great news? It’s never too late to be an example of what’s possible!
If you're ready to take the next step in your own journey, I'd love to support you inside the Feel Light Mind & Body Program, where women learn how to lose weight in a realistic, sustainable way while improving their health, energy, and quality of life.
