The “Feminist Buzzkills” podcast is dropping an extra breaking news mini- episode this week to explain what the hell the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals just did in response to Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk’s recent ruling on the (totally safe) abortion drug mifepristone. Is it a win? It is NOT A WIN. Is Kacsmaryk still the religious right’s favorite activist judge? He sure is, but this Fifth Circuit panel is giving him a run for his money.Joining the Buzzkills to clear up the confusion is one of the nation’s foremost experts on constitutional law AND a reproductive justice scholar- and law professor Dr. Michele Goodwin.

Dr. Goodwin explains the legal gymnastics the original judge and the appeals panel went through to copy/paste the arguments made by the anti-abortion doctors (and anti-abortion dentists) who brought the case.

She explains the new limits the Fifth Circuit appeals court put on the distribution of the abortion drug, and what this means for access even in states that protect abortion rights.

NEITHER HAVE WE! The judge hasn’t ruled yet, but we do have new info. We’re breaking down the latest deets on what Judge Dingleberry (AKA Matthew Kacsmaryk) has been saying and not saying. On the list for getting dragged this podisode include, but are not limited to: a whinyass dude in Texas who’s currently suing everybody and their sister because he’s mad his ex-wife had an abortion, a Virginia judge who cited slavery laws to rule that frozen embryos are chattel property, and the anti-abobo clowns who bullied Walgreens into stopping medication abortion dispensing strike again. We’re unpacking all this plus SO MUCH MORE!
