What if I told you that there is a program inside of your brain that is VERY unfair? Something that worked for our ancestors. A program inside of their brain that ensured they would survive. A program that helped them to live, find food and focus on threats, so that you could be here right now. But now-- in 2021 -- this program is a bug. In today's podcast, we're chatting about this internal program called: The Negativity Bias. It's the reason we so easily shrug off the raise we received from our boss and talk all night about the co-worker who said the wrong thing. The reason we get a good fertility report from the doctor and focus on the one hormone that's normal but "could be better". The reason why we can't sit in emotions of pleasure. Emotions of relief. Emotions of safety. Because we're literally HARD-wired to focus on the negative. But this can change (if you want to be happier and healthier) and you'll learn the exact steps in this weeks podcast. You'll learn how: To spot the negative bias in your own brain. The negativity bias affects your nervous system. The simple process to overcome this programming (even if you're a perfectionist) to strengthen your mind-body connection and of course, your fertility. It's interesting, because what was once necessary for your survival, is now worth changing for the next generation we're about to bring in. Evolution is pretty damn cool. Listen now!
You KNOW how powerful your mind is. Whether or not you're creating the life you want, you KNOW you have a very powerful part and responsibility in what your life looks and feels like right now. And if you didn't already know this, you wouldn't have signed up for my shit. You're a smart chick. An evolved soul. The real fucking deal. Something about my work -- the Fertile Ground podcast, the mind-body connection, the inner belief work, MAKES SENSE to you. A part of you KNOWS how vital it is to change your thoughts to both be happy + increase your fertility. But then culture comes in. Your doctor comes in. Your naturopath comes in. Your acupuncturist comes in. The online research comes in. The statistics come in. "How long it's been" comes in. All of a sudden… we are back on this over-focus (borderline obsession) with the physical body again. And the inner belief work takes a back seat. YOU take a back seat. MORE DOING. Way less being. No judgement -- This pattern frequently played out in my 8-year fertility journey. I see this time and time again with women TTC. But in mine and theirs and IN YOUR defense --- the inner-work can feel so intangible and immeasurable compared to the physical. (Which is frustrating when you're feeling impatient.) So I'm hosting a free masterclass to teach you EXACTLY how to create a BABY BELIEF PLAN. In this free class, you're gonna learn: The exact template I used to change my beliefs and get pregnant naturally, after 8 years TTC. The biggest mistakes I see women makingwhile TTC (and how to avoid them). Why this Baby Belief Plan will open up a whole new portal into what's possible for your fertility (and what your mind and body are capable of). Why you can stop worrying about "how" you're going to conceive
When you see a pregnant woman in the grocery store, do you feel: Separate. Jealous. Sad. Annoyed. Angry. Different? Most women I speak to are ashamed to admit that these feelings come up when they see a big, pregnant belly. When we live in the logical, left side of our brain – of course you will see yourself as separate from them. That's what this side of the brain is designed to do. To create division. But what if there was a mind-body HACK that could give you access to that pregnancy energy? What if I told you, that the pregnant women is BORROWING pregnancy energy for 9-months. It's not "hers" to own. It's yours too. And you can access it today, after listening to this weeks podcast: How to access the energy of pregnancy. I did this exercise before conceiving my son. I stopped listening to the shitty story of pregnancy being out of reach for me. I took my power back and decided to get to know her. Not just when it physically manifested. I was fucking tired of waiting – and I know you are too – so listen now!
I was on a coaching call last week and my client who has had 2 losses said, "I didn't even think I could define that experience as trauma." She's someone who thought that letting that word in, would keep that feeling of trauma there forever. When the exact opposite ended up coming true. She felt heard. Seen. And tears streamed from her face as we validated this traumatic experience for her. Trauma -- and trauma from the fertility journey… loss of a pregnancy, loss of time, loss of what we thought our lives would look like… is an experience that we can heal from. We can move through it. It doesn't have to be our "forever story". We simply need to learn how it works and to how to help it pass through our bodies energetically. Which is why I interviewed Sarah Baldwin – a somatic practitioner with a specialty in trauma in this weeks podcast. Our conversation will shed a completely new light on trauma and your nervous system. I loved every minute of it and feel changed from everything she taught me. I asked her questions like: What is trauma and what is unresolved trauma? How anxiety manifests as a result of trauma. Why your nervous system – and even your anxiety – is actually on your side. Practical, simple exercises to heal your trauma. YES… you can heal from it! Listen, no one in the world wants to consciously continue giving life to their trauma. But in order to let it go, we have to learn how it works and what it needs from us. Listen now!
Imagine this…You go to bed at night…satisfied. No hunger. You wake up refreshed. You have NO guilt around what you ate the day before. No more gluten-shaming yourself. A "perfect diet" is no longer your target, and this makes you feel as though your body is enough and ready for pregnancy – despite eating foods on the "no-go-fertility" list. You feel open. You ARE open. In simpler terms, your worthiness is not determined by your diet. For real though – do you even know how much drama you (and all women) have around food and the mental story around what they put in their mouths? It's not your fault though. Diet culture is a $71 BILLION industry. We've been conditioned to restrict, withhold and be as small as possible (physically, mentally and emotionally) since we were little girls. And without a doubt, the fertility journey will make this pressure stronger. So what's the alternative to food shaming/food drama/food guilt? In this weeks podcast, I interviewed Deanna. Deanna is a dietician that specializes in ditching diets, cultivating gentle nutrition and learning intuitive eating. I asked her ALL the questions like: How to let go of guilt around food. What exactly is intuitive eating? How to aim for body neutrality over body positivity. Why you don't have to eat perfectly to be healthy. If you want to learn how to change your relationship with food – even after decades of conditioning – this podcast will teach you what's possible. Because your worthiness is not dependent on your diet. It's time to let that patriarchal shit go. Listen now!
Today's podcast is about a hot topic. We're chatting about surrender. This is another coaching call question about what is surrender really? How do you know when you're doing it? How do I know if I'm complicating it more than I need to? When you're on the journey alone - without support - you sometimes feel like you're doing things blindly. Like okay, I'll try this, but how do I know if it's working or if I'm doing it? This is exactly why it's so important to have a community and a coach or guide on your fertility journey… because you may be making HUGE progress in your life — but you don't even give yourself time to acknowledge yourself or celebrate. And in my opinion, if you're not able to validate your progress and feeling better on your fertility journey and in your life — than what's the fucking point? It's like the progress didn't even happen if you don't see it for yourself. So I want you to notice that she was questioning herself. She didn't know if what she was seeing and feeling was enough. So notice how I coach her through this hot topic of surrender. You're also going to get a glimpse into surrender and what it means and what it feels like to her which I think will be really helpful for you. Listen now!
We are featuring, yet another incredible client of mine and one of our coaching sessions during the Fertility Mind-Body Mastery Coaching Calls. I'm featuring this conversation because so many of the women who come to me are self-proclaimed people pleasers. People pleasing is serving everyone else but you — and wanting to be loved and needed by everyone. People pleasing weighs heavily on the mind and body. Boundaries a huge step to transforming and overcoming people pleasing so that you can care and nurture yourself for a beautiful, healthy, happy life — and of course, optimum fertility. This conversation was fun and engaging and I'm really wanting you to see how doing inner work on your fertility journey is not just sad and suffering. The joy and the excitement and laughter can start now. Of course, I'd love to coach you personally. And the only way for this to happen is to apply for my Fertility Mind-Body mastery program at www.spenserbrassard.com. So here it is: A wonderful conversation on people pleasing and setting boundaries.
Today's coaching topic is Pregnancy After Loss. This is such a tender topic and a tender life experience. I went through it and for me, it wasn't easy. Pregnancy after loss can be anxiety inducing, which then leads you to have anxiety over having anxiety. It's this loop of trying to control how you feel — which only makes things feel worse. On this coaching call, I very gently coached my amazing newly pregnant client after she experienced a loss last year. Our coaching conversation is slow in order to be very present for her experience. I coach her on deciding what she truly wants to believe during her pregnancy instead of what she's "supposed to" or "should" believe. I want you to notice how I'm wanting to give her space to decide for her mind and body… what feels truest to her — and why that is most important. Listen now!
It's crazy how we want a baby to create more love in our lives…Yet, we are withholding love from ourselves until "it" happens. I know you're not doing this on purpose. I know that this is what you were taught about how life works: To hold back love and acceptance from yourself and your body now. To not be worthy of celebration until "it" happens. Keep this release of love, acceptance and celebration locked-up inside of you… and you will be more deserving as a result of your sacrifice. But let me prove how backwards this bull shit belief is. Let me prove how fast your life can change after you let it go. And let me show you how to do it. It's time. Listen now.
"I'm trying to stay positive. But it's so hard." I hear this all the time. From women TTC who believe that positivity is their way to happiness and pregnancy. Conceptually this makes sense. And as a Sagittarius, I am naturally a very optimistic person and I love this about myself. So, I totally get this desire to be more positive and to FEEL more positive. BUT… there comes a point when the monkey mind annoying persists with you that anything other than positive is wrong, bad and messing up your fertility. This is a lot of pressure and I felt this way for years. It only led to a ton of self-blame when any other emotion -- besides happiness and excitement -- entered my human experience… which was A LOT of the time. You know what I would do in response to any anger, sadness or grief that I felt? I wouldn't feel it. I'd suppress it. I'd shove it deep down and fake/pretend that "everything was fine!" This is what I would call… Toxic positivity. So on today's brand new podcast, we're gonna chat about: What is toxic positivity? Why "negative thoughts" aren't bad. Why I suggest choosing validation over positivity. Listen now!
