For years, prominent skeptics have ridiculed the vertebrate eye as a botched design — wired backward, with nerves supposedly blocking the light. Dr Jonathan Sarfati asks whether that's really a scientific objection, or a theological one in disguise.
Drawing on the work of ophthalmologists and new research from Leipzig University, he shows the so-called flaw is in fact a marvel: tiny funnel-shaped cells in the retina act as living fiber optics, channeling light cleanly past the nerves. Accident of evolution, or fingerprints of a Designer?
