On Sept. 24, 2010, more than 70 FBI agents took part in a series of coordinated raids that were aimed at activists of the anti-war and international solidarity movements, and also members of Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO). In a bogus investigation of “material support of terrorism” charges, seven houses and an office in Minneapolis and Chicago were raided.

One of those houses was the home of Jess Sundin, a lifelong activist, a fighter in the anti-war movement, and a member of the Committee to Stop FBI Repression and the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice (TCC4J). Jess joins us today to recall the day she and her comrades were raided by the FBI, the immediate response from the committee, and to make it clear that the only correct response to FBI repression is standing up and fighting back.

Colombian revolutionary Simón Trinidad has lived 75 years on this earth and his last 21 have been spent as a prisoner of the U.S. Empire. Once a valuable thinker and peace negotiator for the FARC-EP, four sham trials based on bogus charges saw a U.S. federal court eventually sentence Trinidad to 60 years in the Federal Supermax prison in Florence, CO. The terms of his imprisonment included the psychologically challenging isolation of Special Administrative Measures (SAMs) and the restrictive access to legal support.

Mark Burton, Simón's lawyer, joins us today to discuss Simón's contributions to the struggle for a socialist Columbia, the injustice he's facing as a political prisoner of the US, and the continued fight to free Simón and for a liberated Columbia.

Sydney Loving is a long time activist that got her start in student activism, took part in the Black Lives Matter movement, was a founding member of the North Texas Action Committee and the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR).

Sydney now serves on the central committee of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), and in serving this role, she visited China to get a first-hand experience of what life is like in a contemporary socialist country. On the show today, we discuss the economic differences between socialist and capitalist countries, what life is like for minorities and what democracy looks like in China, and we also dispel some of the myths surrounding socialism and China.

Sara Mahmoud has been organizing for Palestinian liberation for nearly a decade. The Committee to Stop FBI Repression (CFSR) condemns the unjust arrest and targeting of immigrant rights activist and Centro Community Service Organization (CSO) member Alejandro Orellana. 
On the morning of June 12, FBI agents, National Guard troops and LA County Sheriff's deputies descended on Orellana's East Los Angeles home in a coordinated, militarized raid. Agents forcibly entered his residence and ransacked his belongings before taking him away in handcuffs.
Alejandro faces absurd charges of "conspiracy to commit civil disorders." This is a transparent political accusation meant to criminalize and deter the wave of protests and legitimate activism against ICE terror in Los Angeles. 
Alejandro has done nothing wrong, and his arrest is unjustifiable. As an organizer who has spent years courageously defending immigrant families, he represents exactly the kind of grassroots leadership that the Trump administration seeks to eliminate with intimidation and repression. 
This arrest is part of a broader pattern of political persecution, from the FBI's historical targeting of Chicano activists, Black liberation organizers, and anti-war protesters to the current escalation of attacks against those resisting Trump's deportation agenda. The state is seeking to crush dissent. The charges against Alejandro follow this same playbook of manufacturing crimes where none exist and equating organizing with conspiracy. 
We reject this attack in the strongest possible terms. We stand with Alejandro and call for his immediate release and that all charges against him are dropped. 
We urge all organizations and individuals committed to justice, immigrant rights and civil liberties to join us in defending Alejandro.

On Thursday, April 24, Tallahassee Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) organized a rally demanding the FSU administration stop allowing manifestations of white supremacy on campus. The protest was called in response to a mass shooting by a white supremacist on April 17 that resulted in the deaths of Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba, as well as the injury of six others.

Towards the end of the protest, Lain Dorsey, head of communications with the SDS chapter, turned on a microphone with a hidden speaker and pointed it toward the admin building. One FSU police officer gave Dorsey a trespass warning for using amplified sound, but they ignored it. A swarm of police descended upon Dorsey, arresting them as they chanted, “Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba! Say their names!”.

Lain joins us on the show today to breakdown their arrest, the intensification of repression on college campuses, and how student activists are fighting back!
