Shel helps female business owners craft their proprietary money maker, whilst infusing intentionality and structure so they can build their legacy, without burning out!
I was so excited to speak to Shel as she’s a fellow Gemini (it’s my birthday on Tuesday and hers on Monday!) and she’s an INCREDIBLE business coach!
Forgive yourself for whatever season you’re in, maybe you’ll have a season where you’re hustling and super busy; and then another season where you need to take a step back and have a rest.
Shel actually shattered her elbow and was forced to heal it for 2 years; but she didn’t let it hold her back! She used the time to build a website and start her business. The universe is always serving us what we want and need, sometimes when we don’t even know we want or need it ourselves, and it can be “good” or “bad”. Although there really isn’t such thing as “good” or “bad”; it’s the meaning we give to it. This healing time gave Shel the opportunity to start the business of her dreams! How’s that for turning a “negative” instead a “positive”?!
Shel started journaling to get her through the experience, she called it her “can do journal” and wrote in there whatever she “could do”, she would then pick one of the things she “could do” to move her forward without feeling too much pressure.
Whenever you face a challenge, ask your highest self what she would do. Ask yourself, what is my minimal viable output? What do I feel good about doing each day? What is the one thing I want to do? Who am I committing to be today?
Niching down might not be the best thing for your business…
There’s always one way of doing something. Don’t let your fear of not having a niche hold you back from taking action.
Just show up as you are and you will attract the right people who are meant to read your message.
At this point, niches are becoming over-saturated anyway!
Instead of meeting your audience where they're at, why not challenge them to think differently? Show them something that’s going to transform their life.
Also, how can you know who your niche is if you haven’t even spoken to anyone? You don’t decide who your ideal client is; your ideal client decides if they’re right for you. You can’t identify who your niche is before you put out some sort of messaging, and listen to your intuition to decide what this messaging should be.
Shel recommends to use Instagram “saved collections” where you save the most recent post from the people who follow you to see the consistencies between them and allow this to become your “niche”. Don’t decide on your niche before you’ve explored and tested the market.
I draw similarities and differences between my clients to get real clarity on who I’m attracting, and then tailor my messaging to these people to attract them.
Always remember that no market is too saturated when you start being yourself.
The more that people undercharge, the more it becomes the industry standard, and it brings down everyone’s vibrations. Always charge at least 20% more than you think you should!
When you charge more, you don’t need as many clients, so you can give each individual client more attention, focus and value.
Acknowledge your inner care giver but also remember that you have to take care of yourself first, so raise your vibrations through raising your prices.
Wouldn’t you rather give a nice, warm hug to a few people, or high fives to loads of people?
People who say that “you’re too expensive” or “I can’t afford it” shows you that they’re going to need more mindset work, so increase your prices even more for these clients.
If you see a red flag from a client but you want to work with them, offer them a coaching session to get a taste, and give them value, and then decide if you want to offer them the entire program.
