Yep, that's right. I’m not going to name any names, but these gurus have a whole team working behind them.
I am going to name a name, actually. So we all know Gary V, and Gary V says we’ve got to push out all this content, content, content, because content is king.
But if there's only one of you, it’s important to remember that he's got a whole team of like 20 people, maybe more, and millions of dollars marketing budget.
Stop comparing your chapter one to somebody else's chapter 50, and stop letting the gurus force you to do stuff that you don't want to do.
You really have to lean in to what feels good for you, and by feeling good, I don't mean holding onto things that keep you inside of your comfort zone. I mean asking yourself what's going to be serving your clients?
So that's why people recommend to only pick to social media platforms because you don't want to overwhelm yourself and you're still serving those clients on those two platforms without overwhelming yourself with having to deal with five different platforms.
You have to interpret what the gurus say and apply it to your life, and sometimes it's not going to be the exact same, and a lot of the time, the results aren't going to be the same because there's a lot they don't tell us.
It's kind of like the iceberg analogy that there's so much going on underneath and so much that's happened before that they don't even tell us about.
This is really what I want to focus on in my podcast, and that’s being really truthful, honest and raw with you guys.
I guess I’m pulling back the curtain on what the gurus are saying and what is right, what is wrong and what you should be listening to and what you shouldn’t.
For instance, I read everywhere that you should be waking up at 5am, as it's what all the billionaires do, and I think the advice came from men. This is where we have to appreciate that male and female energy is very, very different.
As women need more sleep than men, according to studies. So see what works for you! Try it out, if it doesn't work, don't feel bad or beat yourself up about it.
I tried the 5am club and I was so tired to point where I felt sick for the whole day and I just wasn't productive.
I know people wake up at 5am to have a more productive day, but what works for me in times of productivity is to time block.
I would suggest to time block every half an hour of your day, which really helps to keep laser focussed and get stuff ticked off your to do list.
Gurus are there to help and to inspire, they're not there to be mirrored, mimicked or competed against. You have to interpret what they're saying in your own way.
See what works for you and if it doesn't work out, please don't beat yourself up about it because the gurus have probably had years and years of trying. What you see isn't always what you get.
Like I said before with the ice berg analogy, there's so much going on behind the scenes. Things that have happened before that they haven't even told us about, so I would definitely be aware of this and pay attention to it.
I hope this hasn’t been too much of a rant, but I hope it’s been uplifting and helpful. And feel free to contact me as always if you have any further questions and I hope you look forward to the next episode.
