As summer winds down, it’s easy to fixate on what didn’t happen—missed trips, forgotten plans, or overspending in moments of spontaneity. Now, with fall’s busyness looming—school drop-offs, sports schedules, and growing to-do lists—anxiety can creep in. Regret from the past and dread for the future compete for our attention, making joy feel out of reach. But tonight's prayer and devotional points us to Psalm 118, which reminds us: today is God’s day. He knew exactly what this day would hold, and He is with us in it. David rejoiced even in the midst of struggle, and Jesus endured the cross “for the joy set before Him” (Hebrews 12:2). Our joy isn’t rooted in perfect seasons or completed bucket lists—it’s anchored in God’s presence with us now.
You have a choice: let regret and worry steal your peace, or choose to focus on the One who walks with you into every new season. He will guide you through the hurdles and show you how to find joy—even in the ordinary.
Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 118:24 (NIV)
“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Father,
We want to rejoice like David did. Even in doubt and fear, we can choose to rejoice in the moment You have given us. We missed opportunities this summer, and we know fall’s hurry could tempt us toward frustration. But we trust our salvation is not dependent on performance. Help us to release yesterday and tomorrow, and to rest fully in You right now. Let Your presence fill us with joy that satisfies far deeper than fleeting pleasures.
Amen.
🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon
Why is your summer bucket list so important to you? Let your awe and gratitude for creation lead you to worship the Creator.
If regret lingers, is there guilt you need to address through repentance and reconciliation?
If fall’s busyness feels overwhelming, what steps can you take now to create margin—simplifying schedules, sharing responsibilities, and leaning on God’s promises?
