“The basic aim of organization is to know where things are and to be able to retrieve these things with minimal to no fuss. “ My kids are back to school and I wanted to get more organized, hoping this is the year the kids actually hang up their backpacks. The only problem is I don’t like traditional approaches to organization. Thanks to a little HGTV bingeing I found the show Hot Mess House and some new philosophies. The Clutterbug and the PixiesDidIt! who share that organization are definitely not one size fits all. It is all about your personality and organizing that fits your lifestyle. Well I can definitely try this. If you have struggled with organization and want to start fresh with this school year listen up and while I share a few things I have learned to tackle this school year.

“We as a nation obsessed with talent” In the episode I talk about the book I recently listened to titled Grit the power of passion and perseverance by Angela Duckworth. A few things I share about this book that I enjoyed is understanding talent and effort. I really loved this idea of deliberate practice and a growth mindset. The other thing I love is this idea that we can grow our grit. Come get a little taste of this book and then add it to your summer or really anytime reading list.

“I have learned to have so much empathy for students (and their parents) who struggle academically or behaviorally.” This week I will share a few stories about my son Simeon and his struggle in 3rd grade. Simeon has never really liked school. Having my child suspended during that year is not something I expected. I share a few things that I learned from going through that year with him. So if this year has been a struggle, come and listen and be reassured that in the end it will all be ok.

”This one I will never forget because I was the epic rescuer here.” Two stories this week from early on in my family’s life where I made a rescue. One I share from an experience at the zoo and the other which took place in the parking lot of our city Library. So one may not be a total fail but the other one I considered one of my favorite moments as a mom.

“Stress is what happens when demands exceeds capacity.” To say that this has been a stressful year is an understatement and in this episode I am taking a look at stress and if we can make it our friend. I found some great information, that it is not necessarily the stress itself but whether we believe that stress is good or bad. I share the idea of a stress mindset which can really help us as we react to our daily stresses or the bigger challenges in life. The best part of all this, is that I learned that our bodies are totally designed to deal with stress. Come and listen to find out if stress really can be your friend.
