  • Who do you need to forgive? – Affirmation 32

Are you ready to fire up your mindset for the day and week ahead?

First things first – read the affirmation out loud.

I forgive those who have hurt me and

    wholeheartedly release those wrongdoings.
    Forgiveness is self-care and
my soul sings when I forgive others.

Go ahead and repeat this one…and really soak let it into your soul.

There are three areas I want us to focus on this week.

#1: Understand what forgiveness is and why it matters.

Psychologists generally define forgiveness as a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness.

Yes, Forgiveness is about extending mercy to people who’ve harmed us, even if they don’t “deserve” it.

In order to forgive, we are not required to sprinkle excuses to cover their behavior or pretend it didn’t happen. We can forgive but we don’t have to forget.

Forgiveness is a process that starts one step at a time and ultimately brings you, the forgiver peace of mind and frees you from corrosive anger or potential bitterness.

#2: Slow down, look inside and forgive yourself.

We have talked about this before. Lioness, you and I tend to be harder on ourselves than we are on others. Self-love and acceptance are elusive. Take a moment and examine your heart.  Look within to uncover where you may be contributing to the situation you find yourself in right now… that one that you feel requires you to forgive someone.   Was your behavior contributing to it? Did you drop a few unsavory comments along the way or make a decision that didn’t turn out as you had hoped?

In self-forgiveness, you honor yourself as a person, even if you are imperfect. This opens you up to seeing others with love and being more open to forgiving when they slip up.

#3: Start developing a “forgiving heart”.

Every hurt makes us stronger. We grow, stretch, and mature in the moments of reflection and forgiveness. This process allows us to help others who have been harmed overcome their suffering.  This ultimately brings us joy and lightens our hearts.

    Stop the cycle of unforgiveness.

Shed bitterness and look through your love filter.

    Not sure where to start?

    1. Avoid criticizing others (aka shining a light on someone else’s flaws and faults)
    2. Apologize when you’re wrong
    3. (Now I have this song stuck in my head.)
    4. Be polite (wave when someone lets you in on the freeway)
    5. Treat others with respect at all times
    6. Don’t jump to conclusions…
    7. Do you judge yourself on your intentions or your actions?
I thought so.  Give others the benefit of the doubt.
    8. Surround yourself with people who help you lean into forgiveness, not slide into the role of a  bitter and negative victim
    9. Lioness, I know you have the power to forgive others. You are gracious, tenacious, and compassionate. I encourage you to put aside your resentment, hurt, and bitterness so you may be blessed by reconciliation with people who have offended us and those whom you have offended.

    10. Moxie-Filled Magnet For Money Mantra – Affirmation 31

This week’s affirmation is refreshing your mindset around and opening you up to financial abundance.

First things first – read the affirmation out loud.

I am a marvelous, motivated, moxie-filled money magnet.

The more I have, the more I can give and bless others.

Is the smile on your face as big as mine when you say this one out loud. There is something so sassy and fun about this affirmation!

Lioness, I believe what stops most people from becoming a Money Magnet is their negative mindset about money.

How can you become a money magnet if you feel negative about money?

Here is a handful of beliefs you may hold that I encourage you to explore and work on this week:

1: Take a look at any negative beliefs or attitudes you have about money.

Growing up, I heard the scripture 1 Timothy 6:10 so often misquoted by misguided individuals.

Like me, you’ve likely heard it as “money is the root of all evil”.

It took me a long time to understand that, sadly, this is a way for people to self-sabotage by seeking a safe reason to stay in a place of scarcity and lack. It protects them from the abundance they were created to receive.

The actual verse is “The LOVE of money is the root of all kinds evil.”  That is a statement I can get behind.

One of the techniques I use to keep my attitude in check is to watch the words I use around money. I don’t say things like – I can’t afford that… I simply say, “That is not an investment I am prioritizing right now.” In other words, I TELL my money where it is going, not the other way around.

Also, be aware of the people around you and their money mindset. If they are always coming from lack – that can rub off on you, too!

2: Believe you are worthy of being a money magnet.

Simple and powerful. You must truly, deeply believe you are worthy of wealth. Build additional affirmations if you are not feeling it yet. This is not a place to fake it until you make it.

      3. Celebrate when your connections are prosperous!

Please don’t be a sour puss when your friend lands a new gig, gets a raise, or comes into some extra cash. Be happy for her. Rejoice with her. Do a happy dance with her.

      4. Come from a place of giving first.

Remember, the more you have, the more you can give. Be brave, Lioness. Start the cycle with giving and see what happens!

5: Appreciate the money that comes into your world.

When I was a kiddo – I loved finding a penny on the ground and singing:
“Find a penny… pick it up and all the day you’ll have good luck.”
Do you still do that or do you walk by these little blessings?

I am sure you feel blessed and thankful when you reach in your pocket and find that $50 bill… don’t let the amount determine your joy.

When you graciously welcome and receive money into your life, you are opening up to receiving more.

Lioness, being grateful for everything you have now is a beautiful practice. There was a time before this when you were hoping and praying for what you have today…

Every season has its own beautiful, abundant blessings. Be grateful for the amazing additions you have received in this one! Soak it in, don’t overlook it focusing on tomorrow instead.

    11. Who are you listening to? – Affirmation 30

This week’s affirmation is reminding you to take a moment and review who surrounds you and speaks into you!

      Ready? Read it out loud!

I will surround myself with divine connections who are a reflection of who I want to become and focus on bringing joy and laughter wherever they go.

      Repeat it as you wish!

After sharing the last week with some of my fiercest, feistiest Lionesses and champions – this was the perfect affirmation to highlight.

Also, I gave a new keynote talk about Powering Yourself Thru Change (stay tuned – I will be posting more about that soon) and one of the most commented-on points was around “surrounding yourself with champions”… specifically, because other people’s energy either helps or hinders you.

Here are a few key points you can start using as you decide who to spend more time with and whose invitations you strongly consider declining:

      1: Enthusiasm is essential.

When you share time with happy, positive, enthusiastic people, you’ll find yourself seeing the world differently. Do you consistently feel alive and ready to take on the world after you connect with a friend or mostly drained and depressed because their focus is far too often on the negative?

Also, it is smart to take a look at how YOU leave others feeling… are you the vision vampire or the voice of victory?

      2. Belly laughs bond us.

Laughter is a great way to connect with others and is central to forming lasting relationships.

When you weave shenanigans and laughter into your connection – life is divinely better. Lioness, be sure you have champions who tickle your funny bone.

      3. Solution seekers wanted!

I encourage you to surround ourselves with people who complain less and focus on solutions more. I know the struggle is real, life throws you punches, and it isn’t always unicorns and rainbows… HOWEVER, I also know you can always find something to be grateful for – even if it is a lesson on what not to do again. ;)

For me, I find I am more refreshed and energized when I spend time with people who love to solve the puzzle, not complain about how many pieces there are.

In the end, you’re the average of ALL the people who speak into you. If you are on social media – that number has FAR surpassed the traditional “5” people we used to focus on… Please, please take a moment to look around and make sure you’re in the right place with the best people. Review your inner circle of friends and confidantes.

(Need help? Affirmation 12 has some steps to help you with this!)

You know me, I also have two more questions for you to ask yourself about the people in your life. Before or after you meet with your inner circle, slow down and ask yourself:

1:  Is this someone who represents who I would like to become?

2:  Do I admire and respect them?

If your answer is NO, I believe it is time to release them from your life and open up that space for new connections who will fill your soultank with scrumptious soul food that will fuel your vision.

Lioness, it’s worth the time it may take to intentionally surround yourself with people who wholeheartedly create a life built on joy, goodness, and integrity for themselves and those around them.

    12. Who are you becoming? – Affirmation 29

This week’s affirmation reminds each of us that we have what it takes to make our dreams come true.

      Ready?

I am ready to enter a new phase of my life

and become the best version of myself in this season.
I am all in – heart, soul, body, and mind!

Whether you are moving from single life into a married one, into a new year, or transitioning from your second act to your third act – new phases of your life are always on the horizon.

Every day you move closer to a new chapter and that can be exciting and scary. Especially those new phases that are forced transitions – the ones that are or feel out of your control like illness, the end of a marriage or friendship, closing of a door, or losing a job.

However, all of these changes and new phases can work together for your good if you allow them to.

A few questions I encourage you to ask yourself this week:

      1. What must I release as I step into this new phase?

When you try to fit too much in, you feel exhausted, depleted, and unfulfilled.  Be mindful about what you commit to so you can live in abundance in this new phase.

When you focus your precious energy and resources like time and money on the divine things you have intentionally committed to – magic happens.

      2. Who do I want to become in this new phase?

Deciding to define or redefine your best self in this new phase sets you on a divine path. Start by writing out a list of fresh attributes you want to be associated with or the values you want to focus on in this new season, then write a list of activities and people that support those plans… and 5-4-3-2-1, take action.

      3. Who am I becoming if I make this decision?

Do they support who you want to become in this new phase/season as you make decisions?  When the choice is in your control, choose wisely.

Lioness, as you move forward into this new season and phase, remember to review your self-talk and add some new custom affirmations to support your new direction!

    13. 5-4-3-2-1 Blast Off Into Your Best Habits – Affirmation 28

This week’s affirmation is reminding each of us we have what it takes to make our dreams come true.

      Ready?

I have strong willpower and can change my habits with ease.

My vision and purpose are clear to me.

I already have the wisdom and courage it takes to make my dreams come true.

When you weave together a strong will power, consistent habits, clarity of vision and purpose, and the courage to believe you have what it takes – you are truly able to build your best life.

This week, I want to focus on the habits element of this affirmation and share 5 of my sassiest steps to help you build bold, brilliant habits to support you living your best life out loud, on purpose and on your own terms.

      5. Define WHY you want to commit to building the habit.

If you have gone through my Values-Based Goal Setting program, you have heard me talk about this A LOT. There are 4 basic components in my formula to set a goal that honors your values and sets you up to successfully achieve it.

      1. Defining your commitment – including WHY you are doing it.

      2. Choosing the actions that will help you achieve it.

      3. Surrounding yourself with ideal connections who will help and support you.

      4. Declare how you will feel when you accomplish it.

pssst… Make sure your WHY and FEELING motivate you. If they don’t, you won’t do it. ;)

      4. Consistency.

Embracing consistency is so key to building strong, life-long habits.

My friend Tami Bonnell has never broken a commitment to her children because she is consistent. Want to know the consistency hack she uses with her family that allows for flexibility required to fit in her schedule? She keeps is SIMPLE. She sets a weekly commitment of doing ___________ 3 times a week. This week it might be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5pm… Next week it may need to be Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday. In seasons where you have a LOT going on, give yourself some grace and ease up on the rigid commitments. Habits without consistency are not actually habits. Instead, they are those awesome “activities” you do sometimes when you kinda-sorta feel like it.

When you don’t feel like it…

      3. Count down 5-4-3-2-1 and into action!

I love Mel Robbins’ sass and snark around this simple, incredibly effective concept. In a nutshell, when you have a thought to help you make a dream REALITY – you must take action on it immediately – or your brain will come up with all sorts of reasons not to do it.  The next time you think to yourself, I should really drink more water, take a walk, call my client, define a new business model, write a chapter, make that video… and so on – here is what you do.

Count down – 5-4-3-2-1 and BLAST INTO ACTION. Get up and grab that glass of water, put on your sneakers and take that walk, pick up your phone and make the call, pull out your Business Model Generation book and start vision casting your new business model to sell the book you are going to write that chapter on in 5-4-3-2-1. ;)

It is insane how well this works. I have yet to use it and not follow through. The hardest part with this one is remembering to do it.

When you find yourself not remembering to do it…

      2. Wrangle a friend, coach, or mentor.

In other words – don’t do it alone. I love the saying: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. You don’t have to do it alone. If you find yourself in a season where you don’t have someone you can call on to help – I encourage you to make finding connections a priority – even over building the new habit you just defined.

      1. Celebrate each success with a reward.

It’s a simple formula: connect the dots between each “desire” and activity you “want to do more”.

Love wine (like me)? Go to the gym – FIRST. I give myself different goals… like after 3 miles or 10 miles – depending on my overall goals! ;)

Love watching Netflix? Reward yourself with a mini-binge session after you finish writing the next chapter in your new book.

If you add a reward after a good habit you want to build, it’s a powerful reinforcer. Be sure your reward doesn’t sabotage your ultimate goal. For example, one glass of wine won’t blow your healthy living habit, so keep it to one and done.

Lioness, you have everything you need to make your dreams come true.

      It’s your turn to shine.

    14. pssst… Open The Door! – Affirmation 27

First things first – read the affirmation out loud.

Doors of possibility are opening for me.

      Closing doors are divine protection.
I will celebrate both with a grateful attitude.

I love the idea that all possibilities exist and with every choice we make, a whole new set of possibilities are created.

I also love the belief that when a door closes – it is divine protection.  It must be closed for me to create margin for something better to arrive.

Both of these bring me joy and peace.

There are many ways to open your world to new possibilities.

Here are 11 of my favorite ways:

        1. Keep an open mind. Looking for possibilities requires you to ditch the closed mindset and embrace seeing potential around you!
        2. Be open to change. Enough said.
        3. Get comfortable being UNCOMFORTABLE.
        4. Crush self-limiting belief (we covered that a couple of weeks ago, so revisit that one if you need a refresher!)
        5. You don’t have to wait for a door to close ON you. Consider removing something from your life that doesn’t serve you to make room for something fresh and fantastic. You never know what you might let in when you let something go.
        6. Learn a new skill. If you decide to take a live class – you open up to meeting new people, too!
        7. Volunteer. Serving others always opens up new possibilities AND fills your soultank with love.
        8. Smile at everyone you meet! Try it for the next week and see what happens!
        9. Take yourself on a “ME DATE”. Get to know yourself while sitting by the lake or walking the exhibits at your favorite museum or gallery!
        10. Build a vision board or start a journal where you write out your wildest dreams!
        11. Kick judging others to the CURB! When we judge other people, we don’t define them; we define ourselves as judgmental people. (No, thank you!)
        12. Lioness, it doesn’t matter HOW you choose to open up to possibilities… it matters that you DO.

        13. Shake Off The Shame – Affirmation 26

First things first – read the affirmation out loud.

          Today, I accept myself unconditionally.

I will shake off the shame, embrace the grace, and live my beautiful, divine life out loud!

Now, repeat it. This time, put your hands over your heart and speak it over yourself – letting it really soak in DEEP!

I know, I know. Accepting ourselves unconditionally can seem daunting.

What do you mean I can’t pick myself apart? I have to love myself – even the lumps and bumps? The cellulite and – what the heck was that – A premenopausal hot flash? I have to love myself with those too? Yes.

Here are three truths to focus on this week:

          1. It is freeing when you decide to BE YOU. ALL of you… out loud, on purpose, and on your own terms.

If you have been listening to my podcast or reading my blog for a while, you have done the work to define your values, you know what fills your soultank, and you have uncovered your divine purpose.

You know who you are and who you want to become…

so BE the most radical version of YOU.

          Bravely. Boldly. Unapologetically. BE YOU.

          2. Comparing yourself to others is a waste of time – and you don’t have time for that.

One of the main reasons we don’t accept ourselves it because we don’t match up to others around us. It is time to stop holding yourself back by comparing yourself to others, focusing on what you don’t have or what others do, and start to embrace your unique, quirky self.

All of you – curves, lines, successes, and yes – your glorious failures!

I love this saying:  “There is no competition among wild women! They are too damn wild to be caught in a tiny space of envy. Instead, they dance together and allow the good to flow abundantly to them.”

Cast aside your desire for small-minded comparisons.

Focus on being your best YOU and nurturing a tribe that will encourage, empower and love you along the way.

          3. Boldly accepting that your experiences, trials, and talents make you uniquely you takes GUMPTION.

You know the world is full of knockoffs, spinoffs, and cheap imitations. You realize being “genuine” seems all too often to be the exception, not the norm. You know there is only ONE person just like you, so why do you fight being “yourself”?

Simply put – the world has been telling us for decades to fall in line, act like a lady, keep your thoughts to yourself… it takes gumption – sheer moxie – to step up and claim your individuality.

It’s time to acknowledge your greatness, embrace your unique qualities, and get excited that you really do have our own path.

It’s time to stop waiting for someone else to validate your purpose or to tell you what you can do to make a difference. You already know.

It’s time for you to infuse your purpose and become part of the solution you seek.

Start believing there isn’t anyone like you.

          I dare you. ;)

        14. Will you let it go? Let It Go. – Affirmation 25

It’s Monday… and time for a #Moxielicious message to lift you up and ignite your mindset as you step into another week of SIP, fighting for the causes on your heart, and caring for the ones you love.

You know how this goes… first things first – read the affirmation out loud.

I let go of any self-limiting thoughts and beliefs.

By challenging my fears, I become a stronger and wiser leader.

Now, repeat it. This time, put your hands in the air and shout it out! Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Maybe you carry guilt or shame about something you did.

Maybe you see obstacles and challenges as things that hold you back.

Maybe you can’t get past the stigma of your past and how people see you.

If you’re like me, you’re learning more every single day of the systemic inequality around us… you’re working on your unconscious bias, your racial prejudice, and curbing your centering more every moment.

This week, here are questions I encourage you to explore:

1: What limiting beliefs do I have?

Make a list of the things you truly desire to see changed but do not believe you are worthy of, smart enough to achieve, have enough money for, possess a voice others will listen to, etc.

2: How was this belief formed?

Did someone tell you it was more important to be liked than to stand up for what’s right, moral or honorable? Did someone tell you that you were stupid as a child? Did someone tell you that you didn’t “deserve” the success you desired? Did someone tell you that if you had too much money, you were a sinner or greedy or both?

Work to pinpoint the first moment you started to believe you were not worth it and write it down next to each answer from question 1.

3: Am I ready to release this belief?

I know it sounds crazy, but many of us WANT TO FEEL like we don’t deserve to have our dreams come true. We made the self-limiting thought such a fierce neuropathway our minds don’t want to let it go. It’s more comfortable to stay stuck than to do the uncomfortable work.

It’s time to recognize the thought/belief, question why it was formed and come into a place of being willing to release that belief you will be able to start letting it go, moving forward, and living your purpose out loud.

You can do this in a time of relaxation and meditation.  With your eyes closed, your breathing deep and relaxed you can say to yourself

“I willingly release my need to believe _________________.”

          OR

“I willingly release my belief that __________.”

4: What thought will I replace it?

In this moment, I want you to FLIP the negative, limiting belief. If you have been walking around thinking your marriage is dead or your business is failing or “you’re only one person at the table – what can you possibly do?” – how can you flip those?

          For example:

My relationship is filled with passion, adventure, and ooooooodles of love! Today, I will write down 11 things I love about my beloved.

I am excited to build new streams of income and breathe new life into my business. Today, I will connect with someone I admire in business and ask them that question I’ve been dying to ask!

I will be bold and take a stand for what is moral and right. Today, when someone makes a racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, or any inappropriate comment in meetings – I will proudly stand in the gap for them and speak my truth.

5: How will I make this my new reality?

Rinse and repeat, my dearest. You know I believe in writing custom affirmations and this is the PERFECT way to start your own journal of personal mantras.

Grab your journal every morning and read your NEW, LIFE-GIVING THOUGHTS when you first wake up and read them again before you go to sleep.

Add them as a recurring meeting on your calendar – maybe during your lunch hour or when you usually stop for coffee or tea in the early afternoon!

Use a dry erase pen and write them on your bathroom mirror or your window pane.

Record them into your phone and play them during your daily commute or walks.

6: Who am I surrounding myself with during this change-filled season?

Lioness, you don’t have to do this all alone.  Call on your Lioness Pride.

-Ask your bestie to check in on Sunday evenings to set your intentions for the week.

-Email your coach to say that this is a new change you seek and that you need accountability.

-Connect with your mentor for additional tips and tools to help you succeed.

7: Am I giving myself grace along the way?

Remember, you are fully equipped to tame those self-limiting thoughts.

            Shake off the shame.

            Believe in yourself.

            Celebrate your successes.

            Learn from your setbacks.

Be your own kind of brave.

Now, it is time to go forth and light your world on fire.

          xxoo,

        16. You Are DIVINE – Affirmation 23

          Happy Moxielicious Monday!

Are you ready to fire up your mindset for the day and week ahead?

First things first – read the affirmation out loud.

I am divine, complete, and equipped to live my life intentionally aligned with my values.  Today, I will boldly shine my light.

          Now, repeat it.

You already have everything you need.

          Boldly BELIEVE in yourself.
          Be BRAVE for yourself.

Define your values and intentionally live aligned with them.

Let’s agree to stop waiting for “something” to happen.

“Something” outside of us that will make us happier, more successful, or the most _______________ {fill in the blank}.

At some point, we all listen to the nasty self-talk we whisper to ourselves to keep us from achieving our greatness.

The reality is each of us is fully equipped to fulfill our purpose.

We already possess what we need to live our purpose out loud and serve those we are meant to serve.  It is our responsibility to move forward, hone our skills and share our talents with the world around us.

          Stop hiding behind excuses.

          Shake off the shame.
          Give yourself grace.
          Get up and out there.

SHINE your brightest light and inspire others to do the same.

          xxoo,
