Today on the program we welcome Beau Coash. Beau is an institutional portfolio manager for fixed income strategies at Fidelity Investments. Before joining the fixed income team, Beau was global head of syndicate and primary trading for Fidelity Investments Equity Trading division. Beau speaks to host Bryan Borzykowski about fixed income investing in 2023, inflation, and where he is seeing opportunities in the market right now. Beau speaks about the excitement surrounding bond yields, specifically treasury yields. He notes treasuries are at their cheapest levels in decades. Even back in 2007, spreads were tight, so they were selling risky assets for treasuries. Beau comments that you only get a few chances to buy treasuries really cheap, so investors must act fast and be nimble and ready. He also talks about the diversification of the fixed income portfolio, and how demographics and duration impact yields.
