Again, if Christ is reigning in our hearts, then it will be reflected in how we handle our finances. Considering, how Christ is reflected in our finances we need to first consider some overarching Biblical principles: The Principle of Lordship, The Principle of Ownership, and The Principle of Discipleship. When Christ is residing in reigning in our hearts, it will be reflected in our lives and our lives become the reflection of Christ. Jesus stated, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. When Jesus was asked by the Phariees when the Kingdom of God would come, He responded "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; ... For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you." Though the Jewish people were looking for the Physical Reign of the Messiah (which will occur during His millennial reign), Jesus told the people that the Kingdom of God was already present. The Scriptures tell us that when an individual accepts Jesus Christ as their savior they become the temple of God. Jesus stated that they (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) would make their home with the believer (John 14:17,23). The evidence of God residing in your heart would be fruit that is consistent with a God-controlled heart. But Jesus stated, "why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?" In Revelation 20, Jesus reveals through John six times in the first seven verses that there would a one thousand year period in which Satan would be bound and that He would physically reign on the earth. This period of time is referred to as the Millennium, or the Millennial Reign of Christ. Though, the Old Testament Prophets spoke, being moved of the Holy Spirit, much about this period and the Revelation is quite specific and clear regarding the length of this earthly reign of the Messiah, many segments of Christianity refuse to accept a literal understanding. The question must be asked, "Who, or what, should be the final authority for interpretation?" Should it not be God Himself? Additionally, there are many in Christendom who refuse to accept that God has declared that He will once again deal with Israel as His chosen people and nation. With all of the propechies that were given regarding the coming of the Messiah, the specific nature of the prophecy of Daniel, and the prophetic appearance of the angel to Zacharias, you would expect that the Jews would have been anxiously anticipating the birth of the Messiah. However, an examination of the Scripture reveals that the majority of the people missed it. So, the question to us is clear, will we be anticipating His 2nd coming? The season of the timing of the 1st Coming of Christ was given in the prophecy of Daniel. The Messiah would come and be cut off 69 weeks, or 483 years, after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. When the angel came to Zacharias, the time of the birth of Christ became even more apparent. However, still no man would know the day or hour. The same is true regarding the 2nd coming of Christ. No man knows the day or the hour of His return. However, Paul declares that believers should not be surprised by the timing of the return of Christ as the world shall be. We are not of the night, but of the day. We should be aware of the declarations of the Word of God regarding the timing and climate of the return of Jesus Christ. We are told in Scripture that the return of Christ will occur at a time that will be marked by widespread unexpectancy and heresy. People will lulled into an unexpectancy by temporal peace, ignorant optimism and great selfindulgence! The timing of this series and specifically to come to this aspect of the series, the Return of Christ, has coincided beautifully with our Advent remembrance. Truly, the remembrance of the 1st Coming of Christ is a reminder that He is coming again! Hence, as we consider the various aspects of the 2nd Coming of Christ, we will apply them to His 1st Advent. Within the declaration of Christ at His ascension He gave both a positive and negative command. First, He told His disciples NOT to worry about the timing that His physical kingdom would be established. As He had told them earlier, no man knows the day or the hour. Secondly, He told them that they would be witnesses of His resurrection after they had been empowered with the presence of the Holy Spirit. After Christ ascended into heaven, the angels made a declaration to the disciples that provides us with a divine testimony regarding the manner of the return of Christ, He would return the same way that He departed. The Resurrection of Christ is both a matter of fact and a matter of faith. Jesus Christ revealed Himself to well over 500 people after He was resurrected from the dead. In any court of law, that testimony would surely stand. However, when it comes to the resurrection of Christ, many are still skeptical. The Scriptures state as well though that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a matter of faith. As Jesus stated to Thomas, "... because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Faith in the resurrection of Christ is integral to salvation. As Paul stated, "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." The resurrection of Jesus Christ did not just deliver from death and the penalty of sin, it delivered us from the power of sin as well. In Christ, we have new life.
