On this episode of the Food About Town podcast I sat down with my wife Carrie Lindstrom and talked about a wide range of food topics.

Carrie and I talked about ethnic grocery stores referenced in my most recent piece for the City Newspaper in their Annual Manual insert, home cooking including crock pot recipes and dining out for review meals. We did also mention dining out at Disney and I mentioned @akachela from the Rochester Twitter scene in relation to that. Would love to have her on at some point to talk ROC Dining as well as some about her experiences dining at Disney.

On this episode of the Food About Town podcast I sat down with my brother Alex Lindstrom did a test of both my new podcast studio setup and the Skype connection. Take a look at the picture I above to see what it looks like! I’m really excited to have it set up and expect to be more frequent with the episodes in the near future.

This was a bit of a random conversation that did touch on food for parts of it, but don’t expect something along the lines of the interviews I’ve done in the past. We did touch on some of our love of radio/podcasts and the how we got there, some of his food preferences and a little bit about gardening toward the end.

Hope you all enjoy the diversion from the norm and don’t be surprised if I err away from the straight interviews more often now that I have a permanent setup in my house to do podcasts on.

On this episode of the Food About Town podcast I sat down with my friend Chris Clemens for an extended conversation about food and whatever else struck us at the time. Chris is the creator of ExploringUpstate.com which is another local blog that focuses on finding intriguing places that only Upstate NY can offer. Not only that, Chris and I are two of the founding members of the Rochester Area Bloggers group and we’re the kind of people that just end up running across each other all around Rochester. After making this one happen I’m sure we’re going to end up doing some more of these in the future.

Make sure to check out Chris’ blog and his social media (on the side of his website) and see what Upstate NY has to offer other than food. He does a great job on researching his topics and dives in deeper than most I’ve run across.

I was really excited to have Chef Paul Vroman from Aunt Rosie’s as my guest on this episode of the Food About Town podcast. Paul was one of the first people to give me positive feedback about doing this whole writing thing and I’ve been following him since his days at the Brick-N-Motor food truck. Aunt Rosie’s has been one of my favorite stops in Rochester for food and somewhere I feel really comfortable that I’m going to get some great food.

We have had plenty of discussions at the restaurant or at food events around town but this was a great opportunity to just go at it for 45 minutes or so and nerd out. This is also part of my City Paper review follow up project and after a review I was particularly proud of.

On this episode of the podcast I interviewed Trey Yager from Havana Cabana as a follow up to my recent review in the City Newspaper.

City Newspaper Review

I had briefly talked to Trey after our second visit to the restaurant before the review came out but this was my first in depth discussion with him.

This is part of my City Paper review follow up project and, unlike the first one with Tim Caschette from Avvino, this review wasn’t a particularly positive one. I was a little concerned about how it would go, but Trey was a great interview and someone who stands behind his product. After our discussion you could tell that he really cares about his customers and the neighborhood Havana Cabana resides in.
