July 27, 2026 "The Smallest of Seeds" - Readings for 7/27/26
In today’s Gospel Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed, and to yeast mixed in with flour. The mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, grows into a large bush. With yeast, the entire batch of flour is leavened. It is the same in our lives – when our faith is activated, God is able to do great things with us. Ask God to give you the grace each day to follow Him and bear great fruit.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus continues to give us illustrations of the Kingdom of Heaven. He compares the Kingdom to a pearl of great price. The merchant sells all he has to buy the field where the pearl is. Do we do this in our lives? Do we rid ourselves of distractions that stop of from pursuing the riches of God?

July 23, 2026 “Why do you speak in parables?” - Readings for 7/23/26
In today’s Gospel, the disciples ask Jesus why he speaks to the crowds using parables. He tells them that the knowledge of the Kingdom of Heaven has not yet been granted to the people, even though it has been granted to the disciples. Why were they entrusted with this knowledge? Because they made the choice to step away from their lives and follow Jesus. They could hear the Word of God because their hearts were ready to receive it. Are our hearts ready as well?

Today’s readings speak to us of following the will of God. To seek the will of God is to seek the most loving thing that could happen to you, because God wants to give us what is best for us. When we seek his will, we are seeking to be united to the King of all creation, the Savior of the world.

In today’s Gospel, the scribes and Pharisees ask Jesus to show them a sign. He responds that they keep wanting proof when they should be putting their trust in Him. The call to repentance has been given to us, again and again. Are we going to say yes? He is everything for us. Do we turn to him?

July 18, 2026 "Don't let the weeds grow in your life!" - Readings for Sunday, 7/19/26
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable of a farmer whose enemy sewed weed seeds into his fields. At the harvest, his laborers collect the weeds and burn them. The devil is the enemy who sews seeds into our lives to distract us from Jesus. Don’t let the weeds grow in your life. Ask God for the power to remove them in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to go to Him, and He will give us rest. God always has hope. Even if we experience punishment, even if we’re in anguish because we have sinned against God, God can still turn that around as long as we come to him. Don’t let any sin, no matter how great, keep you from coming to him.

In today’s First Reading, the Lord warns of the coming downfall of nations. Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall. Lands and nations come and go. And it’s essential that we are rooted in what is eternal, and place our hope in that source. Don’t put your hope and faith in nations, lands or people. Put your hope and faith in God.
