Ā
In this episode, our special guest is Ekaterina Matveeva also known as Kate. She is the CEO and founder of Amolingua. Amolingua offers smart service for soft skills training in foreign languages.
Ā
Learning more about language
The study of a foreign tongue improves the knowledge of one's own language. It will help you not just with the communication, but it will also give an opportunity to engage with the world in a more immediate and meaningful way
Ā
Today we have a special guest with us. Sheās all the way from the U.K. Her name is Kat and sheās the CEO and Founder of Amolingua.
Ā
(01:12 - 01:34) Iām Ekaterina Matveeva. This is complicated so Kate. Platform is called, Amolingua which means, I love languages. So which we are doing, we are teaching you languages, cultures like cultural mindset. Mainly training in public speaking. Itās all in one package and itās not just for you to learn a language but actually for a particular purpose for a girl. So it can be a business.Ā
Ā
(01:41 - 01:55) So if you go to China, you need to understand Chinese culture. Otherwise, how are you going to sell there. If itās engineering, so we will help you with engineering vocabulary and as well as the social idea on how it should work there lets just say in Germany different here with Singapore.
Ā
The beginning of service
We cannot deny the fact that it is very hard to start working on a project on the first time, you need to let people believe in you and made them feel you deserve their trust. But when if you love what you are doing nothing is impossible.
Ā
(02:14-2:30) 10 years ago, when I was in linguistics, well it just donāt on me I wanted to actually get some language school but I didnāt know how it will work and use it, for it involves some high technology because already I was dreaming about you know some of the yeah yeah you know it was the start.Ā
Ā
(2:56-3:04) Last year we actually launched properly this project and it was like first about the service so we were just you know teaching people and seeing the results statistics.Ā
Ā
(3:31-3:50) That was the first service and then we attracted more and more people like form technology and we form partnership for platform like company like working in a public sector etc. and now we are preparing like fully and technologically like you know, quick platform with is our own talent materials based on our methodology.Ā
Ā
(04:25- 4:36) The first call for me is when I was invited for TED talk then when I actually wrote my first book and then second book and it was again more about education and languages.
Ā
Embrace the challenges
Challenges are everywhere, just face them and do not let them fail you. Keep on striving for the best result for your goals.Ā
Ā
(5:48) I went on Europe, different corporates different cultures but we all know that we need a lot of patience, we are corporates because we have the structure.Ā
Ā
(6:18-6:27) In my case itās more about contribution and impact so if I can contribute to the development of a particular company thatās an influence.
Ā
(9:25-9:43) You need to work twice harder like everywhere, you need to position yourself not like to become a man, you know itās very important but actually still be female. Itās very important actually embrace your femenine side.
Ā
(12:33-12:38) I have these like 3D formula, dream, decide, do thatās it.

Ying Lian Xie is best known for her work as the CEO and co-founder of Datavisor, a successful fraud detection technology company based in the Silicon Valley. Ā
A woman influencer
As a woman, people are expecting too much from you. That is why you need to be brave to face all the challenges in life you deal with daily. You need to be a good leader for there are people who are looking up to you because of your influence.Ā
Ā
1:54-2:33 Woman with influence can be very broad and sometimes people interpret theyāre living more narrow way. Influence is that as women we actually influencing in many different ways, we play different roles and we influence working the workplace our co-workers and as a leader we influence our team but there are also bigger influence as we influence the family and friends, we influence our children, to some extent women actually have a great influence on the society in general and it can be actually very broad and deep.
Ā
5:25-5:53 I still feel myself lucky, lucky in a sense that me and my co-founders we both actually are female co-founders is the company and the technology but we actually are fortunate enough to work with many of few of these greatest investors in the world and they definitely did not hold any view of like were women to treat us differently so I feel very lucky.
Ā
Just be yourself
Working in a company as a woman leader you need to make them feel that you are strong and confident. Do not let them think that you are weak because you are a girl instead make them know you through your achievements
Ā
7:07-7:15 on the surface may be on seeing the image of two female co-founders sometimes the question would raise up.Ā
Ā
7:44-8:26 As myself, I did not think very intentionally that I need to work around harder that didnāt come across to me and felt that maybe there are some of the lucky part that I was able to work with someone with these investors in the world who are actually extremely supportive and extremely helpful. So I didnāt have that strong feeling if I need to work harderĀ but in general start up is hard I always felt I need to work hard and that is a fact that I believe regardless of men and women. We have to work very hard particulars are entrepreneurs and itās not just an easy journey.
Ā
8:28-8:33 That kind of awareness and that kind of thing always push us through and my comment is really sort of regardless what we do whether itās a guy and a woman as we presume a lot of dreams we
Ā
8:42-8:49Ā Regardless what we do, whether itās a guy and a woman as we presume a lot of dreams we always have to work very hard.
Ā
10:25-10:30 Establish the strong correlation between the sort of a woman and a strong leader.Ā
Ā
Key Takeaways:
1. Balance work and family
2. Influence people
3. Give compliments to people

FWEP00022 Aileen Hoe
In this episode, we have a very special guest who believes that learning how to have fun and experiential learning are the two key ingredients and thatās crucial to oneās learning.
She is Aileen Hoe the Director of Chinese Champ she is also the assistant secretary for Twi Libraries Malaysia, Committee member of We care Journey.Ā
Ā
Children are our Future
Teachers are influential for whatever teachers act students will emulate it. The educator plays a big role in the lives of students. Hereās what Aileen shared about how they get along with the parents, guardians, and kids as well.
(2:19-42) I work with the parents and I train the teachers as well our motto is we make learning fun. So when the kids come through the door, what they do is they have fun and be themselves. Our environment is very nurturing whereby we use positive affirmations for the children and they come and be themselves and we work with them from the mindset.
(3:27-4:02) āI believe as educators we are influencers for the next generationā and always believe in this āI believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside, give them a sense of pride to make it easier let the childrenās laughter remind us what we used to beāĀ
(4:03-11) So that is the power of being an educator we influence not only the children but also the parents and guardians.
Be innovative
Educators must always make sure to upskills not just themselves but even the curriculum as well. Educators must teach what works best. Aileen shared:
(4:37-41) I believe in this motto āWe donāt need to reinvent the wheelāĀ
(4:53)So what I do is I take from the bust a little bit of here and there not so much of like one specific system because I always believe that it has to be customized. And what I had customized for this year may not be applied for the following years because the children they change and live with the technology and so on. Different parenting style as well. So we have to always upskill ourselves.Ā
(5:19- 51)So what we practice to make learning fun so my forte is using music and movements and speech and drama and we put those estimate elements in the teaching of the language. So when the kids come they will have fun and they really feel that they are learning but at the same time through music movement they learn discipline they learn to take turns, they learn to respect one another when they take the turn to pass on to precautions from one person to another person. They learn to listen and thatās recall and response in excellent songs. They listen and they then to receive and to give as well and a lot more can be done from there. Ā
(6:33-41)We believe in a VAK system Visual Auditory Kinesthetic so thereās a lot of personalised attention given although it still in a group.Ā
Calling to teach
Not everyone has the passion to teach young kids and same as with our calling. We all have different calling with different ways of how we respond to that call.
After knowing our call itās up to us if weāll take the call or just leave it. Aileen shared her calling and love for teaching.
(7:01-19)Well I was in a corporate finance line for about 5 years and my dadās been a businessman and my momās been a teacher all her life so I always joke that Iām the best of my parents because Iām an education a teacher Iām sitting in my own business Iām half of Half in each of them.Ā
(7:28)I quit my job full-time to go into teaching.Ā
(7:38-16) Once a teacher always a teacher. I was still teaching part-time. I found that very tiring but it was still very fulfilling. But what makes me decide to actually let go corporate finance for good although the pay was good and all that, was actually I gave myself a question, a life changing question I ask myself āWhat would I do if I only have 1 year to liveā? So the answer was very very clear. I knew that I wanted to be with the kids and I just want to be happy and I realized that itās my calling and thatās what I love to do for the rest of my life.Ā
Roadblocks are temporary
Tears, sweat may shed in our face but these are just part of life as human. Working and living without this stuff is not challenging at all. Aileen shared how she conquers those roadblocks she encountered being an educator and businessman as well.
(8:42-9:42) It has been sweat, tears, of course, thereās a lot of challenges, financial challenges itās not easy being a working mom I went through pregnancy being a new mom. So I went through a divorce a few years ago and that was very hard but I would say that thereās a lot of voices some of them into no voices, some of them are external voices. It was very hard to distinguish from whatās right and wrong until I actually sit down and think back like what kind of clarity to achieve clarity so that I will be able to really listen to my heart and what I need to do and how to prioritize but I will say that I am very thankful that I have a very good support system.Ā
(10:42-11:17) I cried a lot, I laugh a lot as well along the way and I guess itās through that I begin to understand myself better and I take it as a journey and looking deeper. I would say that I donāt even know that I have this side of myself. Until I went through it and realized that thereās nothing too difficult to be able to overcome when you have the right mindset towards things.Ā
(11:26-39) Sometimes too much of a mind person and when it comes to feeling it. Honestly, Iām the kind who numbs my feelings to be able to not feel pain.Ā
Look at yourself
Sometimes because we are so busy with our business, family, and friends we tend to forget to look after ourselves. We forget that we need to take care of ourselves. Aileen encourages us to:
Ā (12:21-50) I spend a lot of time on my own as well to feel myself and to understand because different face of situations it brings out the best and the worst in me. So itās about getting myself space to understand that okay I need support and Iāll come outreach out to the person, people whom I know who will be able to give me this emotional support at this time
(12:56-13:23) If you feel that you just need to go into a cave and stay for a week, a few days a few hours give yourself permission to do that. Because taking care of yourself is most important as a woman and as a mother as well and I would say that if you donāt take care of your emotional and mental health then it definitely will not help in whatever you are doing with our kids.Ā
Know your priorities
There were people who can still say that āI have no timeā but in fact, we have 24 hours that we enjoyed every day. It only varies on how we manage our time and priorities.
Aileen shared about her priority.Ā
(13:33-38) I always like to think that I have it all but again itās how you define allĀ
(13:42-14:16) The first thing everyone has 24 hours in a day so itās how we make best of the time that we have how we prioritize. Sometimes I have to put sudden things down to be able to attend to other things. I would say that I always make sure that whenever the phone rings if itās my daughter who calls me or my family members who call me Iāll leave everything aside for them if there's anything thatās required from my members of family I will attend to those things first. Ep 21 Dame Wendy TanĀ
In this episode we have a very special guest, she is a powerful and amazing woman and MD CEO of Globe
engineering. She has 30 years of experience leading the organization she received the Dame of Honor from the order of the Orthodox Knights of St. John Russian Grand Priory USA in the year 2012 she is Dame Wendy Tan.Ā
Ā
Looking back
Wendy is very successful now, but it did not start out that way.Ā
(2:02-20)Because being a woman in business is not easy. I would say especially for me in the man industry and it took me a while to gain the trust of the men and now thereās no hesitation. When they have a project they want me to make they do not ask me anymore āCan you do the project?ā.Ā
(02:29)So I have the upper hand right now in many ways but it took me many, many years to build this business to where I am today and Iām very proud of who I am today too.
The journey to permanency
Sometimes to find where we are most effective we need to keep trying and opening ourselves up to opportunities that come our way. This is Wendyās journey:
(2:53-3:03)I did account for a while and I found it so boring I was in an auditing firm and most time I was falling asleep then I realized that thatās not the job for me
(3:05-11)That time when I was working as an auditor was after graduated back from Canada.
(3:15-18)And I realized thatās not for me and I came to Kuala Lumpur Ā
(3:23-41)The first job I took was Insurance and many people asked me you have done so high education, why are you venturing into insurance and I do insurance for a while and I close my first million dollars policy and after I achieve what I wanted then I moved on.Ā
(4:23-43)I decided to migrate to New Zealand because at that point in time New Zealand was taking up a PR so where my degree itās very easy to get a PR and I spent a couple of years in New Zealand working as Accountant, financial accountant.
(4:55-5:11)After coming back from New Zealand I came into this Fire Industry this friend of mine that I knew for many years when he was lobbying for the business from my ex-boss asked me to join him and I just joined him as a business partner in the construction industry.Ā
Ā
Being a woman in a male-dominated industry
Being a woman should not be seen as a hindrance to be successful in an industry that was dominated by men. You just have to be you. Hereās how Wendy did it:Ā
(5:52-6:15)I think is very important to gain the trust of the men. Many times when I would walk in youāll get a look from the men why is this lady in this industry and every meeting that I go in, Iāll be the only lady there might be 20 men 30 men Iāll be the only lady.Ā
(6:23-35)And through the years I realized being a lady has its advantage and I worked a lot on myself to achieve to be who I am today. Be a woman and so proud to be one.Ā
(6:46-7:37)I think it is so important that you want to be who you are being feminine rather than be the mature woman so that then men donāt feel so much as a threat but rather treat you well as other women and they feel happy I think right now the man that I work with feel happy to deal with me and they feel very comfortable to share anything with me and I have many good relationships with all my clients and because of that we have constant repeat business thatās how the company has grown because all the developers in town have grown their business they do bigger business, bigger buildings, hospitals, hotels and therefore my company has grown along with my clientele.
Invest in Personal Development
You are your best asset. Keep learning, keep growing, look for a community, or an organization that can guide you to strengthen who you are in order for you to be effective as an entrepreneur. This is how Wendy came in contact with Money and You.
(8:02-49)Working on myself building myself clearing my childhood trauma, my childhood issues and
to become who I really am so itās so important that you invest in yourself and
because of thatās how I ended up taking on Money and You because of Money and
Your program is a program that has transformed my life since 1998. And I
realized when I first attended this program I taught it was boring but actually
it wasnāt a program that is boring it was a reflection of me that Iām leading a
very boring life. Money and You, whatās so special about this program is that
you can come back and review it at any time and any part of the world.
(9:05-13)The good thing about Money and You you have a lot of coaches around and the people who will help you in your personal growth
(9:56-10:00)I have met so many of them that have helped me along the way in my personal growthĀ
Driving force to success
Our family background should not hinder us to succeed. And if we have miscommunications with our parents we need
to resolve it along the way. This is Wendyās story:Ā
(10:38-11:03)Because I was from a poor family I had to work, I worked as a babysitter I worked as a waitress, I worked as a bartender. I worked long hours so that I could make the money to support myself while I was in Canada. So that was something really good so it gives me the determination to want to succeed in life.Ā
(11:09-26)Dad has never think very much of girls, because of him I always want to prove him wrong that girls can do more things than the boys and that has made me who I am today because of that so Iām thankful.
911:46-12:17)One of my breakthroughs was how to communicate with my mom because as we were
growing up with my kids we never really had a chance to communicate it was like
shouting, screaming telling you what to do and those days youāre put in a box
were they just live you their thatās what makes me so different because of my
upbringing.Ā
Ā
Spreading love
A truly successful person is someone who will keep on doing good to help transform other peopleās lives?
12:57-13:27Ā Well I would like to continue to transform peopleās lives and giving love to the world that was the little Wendy what she wanted when she saw is giving love to the world which I never really had when I was a young kid. So
this is something I would like people to have, love in their heart and Iām so glad that I can do this through this program Money and You.Ā
Ā
Overcoming fears
We all have fears but what makes it unhealthy is when we donāt do anything about it. Never make your fear an excuse to stay mediocre, overcome it. This is what Wendy did:Ā
(20:17-47)I believe every one of us has fear but because like I said there are many coaches I went and work on it what other fears and really release them and be who you really are because weāre all-powerful being so having to work on
yourself to clear your fear in your system is very important. I mean there are fears in me but I went and did all these personal coaching lettings go of it.Ā
Ā Balancing relationshipĀ
Nothing is better than constant communication especially with your partner so there wonāt be misunderstandings or power struggle with your business partner or life partner. Learn from Wendyās relationship with her husband:Ā
(2:01-390I donāt really have a power struggle in my relationship because our age now I think my husband and we really talk things out we always have dinner together every night he...
Not all is free with Pia Wurtzbach Miss Universe 2015
In this video we interviewed Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, all the way from the Philippines. She is formerly known in the Philippine entertainment and modeling industry as Pia Romero, is a Filipina-German model, actress, and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 2015 on December 20, 2015. She had previously won Binibining Pilipinas 2015, in her third attempt in the competition.
The journey towards Miss Universe 2015
Winning Miss Universe is more than just being a beauty queen, for Pia it symbolized persistent determination to pursue oneās dream.Ā
(59:1-24_ Well it took me a long time to make it to Miss Universe I think a lot of people knowĀ that it took me 3 times in our National competition which is called Binibining Pilipinas before I got into a Miss Universe 2015 and it was also 42 years since we won, since the Philippines won. It was pretty much a big deal back home at that time.Ā
(1:29-41) Just last year Philippines won again Catriona won and thatās also like was a big celebration. So we love beauty pageants. And we take Miss Universe very seriously.
More than just the crown
Pageants are not only about the glitz and glamour. It creates something more inside every woman who joins and it especially changes the life of the winner, like it did Piaās.
(1:54-2:24)After winning Ms. Universe I mean being able to travel. Iāve always dreamt of travelling the world and coming to places like Singapore I would only imagine it as a kid and now I get to do it as part of my job. Trying all the different cuisines and meeting people from all walks of life, it's just a really nice learning experience I feel like I may not have gone to college but my school is the world and Iām learning a lot.
Ā
Ā She further shares the learning she gained when she became Ms. Universe 2015
(2:32- 3:33)It really is more than just what people see on TV I mean itās more than a pretty girl who gets crowned at the end of the show wearing a gown who had a nice answer during Q and A, it is really more than that. These girls go through a lot its months some of them years of trying, training, polishing and just really making themselves better over-all not just physically but then also enhancing their communication skills enhancing poise in how they present themselves in public like really a lot of things and just trying to overcome that inner battle in you that youāre not good enough itās always that in our dialogue you have in your head you know that youāre not deserving of being a queen. But then it is more than what people see on TV. Itās really it changes our lives and at the same time we want to change other peopleās lives as we become beauty queens.Ā
Filtering negativity
We canāt control how people view us. Like it or not there will always be someone who will hate is for no reason at all. Letās learn from Pia how to handle the noise around that can drag you down if not managed appropriately.
(3:45-55)Negativity - it is part of it I guess I canāt say that Iām kind of used to it already because I started as an actress back homeĀ
(4:11-18)So I just got used to it and then I learned how to filter comments in my headĀ
(4:31-33)So you just have to choose your battles I guess.Ā
Writing a bookĀ
Beauty queens are commonly expected to write an autobiography after their reign, although Pia thought about this, she opted for a different route for her book. She shared:Ā
(6:13-42)I am coming out with a book, it's very common for beauty queens especially Miss Universesā to come out with a book after their reign I thought about doing an autobiography but then I thought maybe this would be a nice first book for me. So I came up with a story for a while now maybe 2 years since after I passed on my crown actually. So what happened was after you pass on your crown next question is what would I do next.Ā
(6:42-7:01)So I wrote down a lot of ideas on my notebook and then I figured out that this would be a nice first. So itās a fiction novel about a girl who also joins a beauty pageant and the struggles and challenges she goes through into winning or not winning.Ā
(7:05-16)Itās loosely based on my life story not exactly the same of course I added a bit more drama to it but I made sure that people are gonna take away some really nice life lessons at the end of the book.Ā
Top Three Lessons as a beauty queen
Ā
What makes everything worthwhile are the lessons you learn in the different phases of your life. Nothing stays the same, so make sure to plan ahead and use what youāre given for the moment to inspire and make a difference. Hereās what Miss Universe taught Pia.
(7:36-56)The top three lessons I learned into when I competed at Miss Universe is that: Every girl has a different reason for joining some of them really want to get the crown; some of them make it into a stepping stone to acting or modelling; some it was their parentās wish for them to join a pageant.Ā
(09-26)So I guess with each girl itās a different purpose or different story. I also learned that, not everyone can speak English and then not everybody can speak the same language that you speak but then everybody can still get along.Ā
(8:55-9:14)It is everybodyās qualified to win and everybodyās beautiful and everybody is smart and everybody has something to say everybody has an advocacy and a voice. So itās really a matter of preparedness and luck.Ā
Ā
The power of thinking ahead
Planning and preparing is essential to be able to seize every opportunity. Hereās what Pia has to say:
(9:34-41)You have to be prepared all the time because you never know when the opportunity comes and I guess thatās how it kinda worked for me.Ā
(9:52-10:15)You always have to think a few steps ahead thatās how I am. I always think of a game plan kind of like what would do I want to achieve this year or the next couple of months or the next 5 years you donāt have to have it all written down but at least you have an idea in your head of where you want to go so then youāre not kind of aimlessly going anywhere--- youāre going somewhere.Ā
Ā
Mentors
Mentors are a team of people behind your success, they can change as you go along but all of us need mentors. As for Pia she had:Ā
(10:19-59)I do have a couple of mentors especially when I was training for Miss Universe and Binibining PIlipinas I had a team like a village of people. Like one for walking, one for Q and A, one for makeup, one for hair well 3 for Q and A cause then thereās showbiz Q and A, thereās serious Q and A, So I talk to like a showbiz personality for the showbiz Q and A. Also a lawyer for the more serious Q and A so thereās different. Because they can ask you different questions and they all have different tones and also a life coach I spoke to life coach also and I took it a step further I also had an astrologist.Ā
(11:05-17)So I was really serious about it, but it helps itās nice to have a team behind you, people cheering you on cause itās not just your battle itās also kind of theirs too.Ā
(11:37)Now, Iām being guided by the management teamĀ
Ā
Ā (11:39-12:06)The difference now is Iām kind more of the āthe bossā and this is what Miss Universe kept telling me before I passed on my crown i...

Jacy Wee such an honor to have an endearing conversation on self-love, self sabotages and building win-win relationships for women by women.
Jacy Wee: Executive Director of Globe Success Money and You Team
Today, we have a very special guest Jacy Wee. She is the Executive Director of Globe Success Learning, Money and You team Malaysia. In this episode, we will be talking about self-love, self sabotages, and building win-win relationships for women by women.
Turning point
Sometimes what we envision will change as we come face to face with reality. Sometimes our passion is not enough to keep going because we are not where weāre supposed to be. This feeling can be a great way to evaluate your lifeās course. Hereās what Jacy has to say:Ā
As we go along with our journey, puzzling pieces to fix what we want to do and where we want to go. Sometimes we can experience hard times fixing what we really like to do especially if we are in a financial crisis. Hereās what Jacy shared about her journey.
(2:12-33)My journey really started to reflect when I was in my last year in university my education background is environmental engineering and I chose that profession because it was between two: environmental science or environmental engineering. Engineering would bring me a lot more money. That was clear, my path was very clear.
(2:58- 3: 31) So I choose to work for 2 years in the engineering line and after 2 years I knew for sure itās not for me. That was when I was in a very lost phase of my life. I felt very discouraged because the line I wanted to do is something about mother earth to take care of mother earth and that would be my responsibility and my passion. But when I got into that line I found that the industry was out of integrity and I could literally lose my life if I was not compliant. Ā
(3:54-4:12)So I felt very drained I felt my spirit was empty and I actually wanted to shave my head bald and become a nun. Because I had a senior who became a monk and he looked like a very happy monk I thought if I do that and just go down that route I would be happy.Ā
Dreams do come true
When our reality and where we want to be are very different, we tend to feel lost, but if we get up and decide to try again, fate can bring us to the place where we are really meant to be. Hereās Jacyās account when her dream became a reality:Ā
(4:15-54)But when I had a conversation with him he asked me this question āJacy, are you doing this because you feel like you have a calling and thereās something you want to do for the rest of your life or you are escaping?ā So the answer was very clear. I wanted to escape. He says āGo back. Go and explore, Go and live your life this is not for youā so there I was again floating not knowing what to do. And I did something a lot of my peers and family taught was crazy I took up a night course in private secretary. So, from an engineer to a private secretary people thought I was nuts.Ā
(5:13-33)And I dreamt about my dream job and that would be there are no office politics, I could have opportunities to learning go and travel the world it was close to my home, I have flexible hours and I would enjoy what Iām doing. Then I just left it and said āoh thatās a nice dream to have if I ever find itāĀ
(5:34-39)A few months later I actually found it and that was really by chance. I was applying again for jobs in the engineering industry because that was what I deal. But then I saw this one ad that said exactly what I wanted. No office politics, opportunities to train and to learn and grow but I didnāt know where it was. Thereās only an email for me to send my resume too. When I got the reply, I found out it was just 10 minutes from my home. I was so happy but when I went there for the interview, all I saw was Globe Engineering and I thought why am I going back to engineering? Never mind Iām here I just take the chance and I found out that I was actually going into the education line.Ā
(6:26-41)So my life started to change because I started to really ask for what I want. And I feel that is very important because most of my life I felt I was living someone else's dream of success but not my own. And that was why I felt very very lost.Ā
(6:43-47)I could take the safe route or I could take the route that was very unknown to me.Ā
Ā
The path to your dream is not always smooth
(7:07-29)Well because Globe Engineering is our main business and Globe Success Learning is our passion business than in education. So they were looking to hire people to run that business and we were very new as a business we did not know it all several of us because our core and our specialty are in engineering. And I went into that business knowing absolutely nothing.Ā
Like any other woman, the unknown made Jacy insecure and made her think about her decision.
(7:36-8:08)I definitely felt insecure in fact I had another job offer that was offering me twice what I was gonna get from this job. But my whole body was so illogical the logical thing to do was to choose a job with better pay and a bright future. The illogical thing was to go into something I had no experience,Ā no training and giving me half the pay. But everything in my body just says you should give this a try. And I did.Ā
Stepping out the box
Knowing nothing is not an excuse to quit on your dream. You just have to be determined, because determination will help you move forward. This is how Jacy faced being a part of Globe Success:
(8:32-33)It has been 15 years since Iāve been part of this team.Ā
Jacy shared also the lives that they had impacted through their business.
(9:42-54)It was a huge struggle for me to really get out of my comfort zone but Iām someone when I have a goal and wanted to achieve no matter what Iām gonna achieve it. Even though Iām gonna struggle Iām gonna kick and scream all the way.Ā
(10;20-29)Actually when I joined global success and I was exposed to the money and Community that was the biggest support for me. I learned that I wasnāt alone.Ā
(10:50-11:05)But I was very blessed because when I came to this community I had a lot of support and one of the earliest support was from Dame Wendy Tan who is CEO of the Globe Engineering Company and also Terence Tan and weāve been business partners since then.Ā
(11:07-28)The one thing that he said to me before I attended Money and You was āJacy, you deserve so much more in life but youāre not getting it why?ā That really hit me. I thought that I had reached a certain level of success but when he said that it landed.Ā
Building your life
Jacy felt that there was something wrong with her. Thatās the time she began to fix her...

The company also manages a fund called the Hidden Champions Fund. He is currently the chairman and CEO of 8I Holdings. His dream is to serve humanity and to inspire 100 million lives.Ā
Ā
Motivating team for a vision
A motivated team is a productive team. Motivation allows everyone to explore their full potential to do more and go out of their comfort zone.Ā
(4:00) We donāt motivate our team, in fact, thereās no motivation needed, we donāt do any motivation courses or brainwash them I think one of the important things is we actually look at selecting the right people and coming on board with the right online value and passion.Ā
Ā (4:20) We always make sure that we attract the right peopleĀ
Ā
Ā
Managing Family and Business
Ā Despite his success, he maintains a balanced family life. Ā
(5:06) I think the most valuable thing is the team.Ā
(5:07)Ā I think no man is an island Ā
(5:13) Charisma to me is actually able to positively influence and to attract a group of people.Ā
Ā (5:25) I think every leader should have a charismatic element in them to attract their followers.
Ā
Ā
Be genuineĀ
Donāt fix a goal to please everyone, you canāt do that. You canāt please everyone. No matter how good the things weāve done thereās still a lot of people who canāt value and appreciate our worth. Ā
(5:37) When I first started, I aimed for everybody to like me.
(6:00) I realized no matter what I do and what I say theyāre bound to have certain criticisms also positive feedback and negative feedback. So I really removed that judgment of wanting the acceptance of others.
Ā
Who is our First relationship?Ā
When we think of relationship it composes of family, friends, workmates, and the people that surround us. But the question is who is our first relationship? Ken shared his thoughts about this.Ā
(6:26)The most important thing I realized is the first relationship I have is not with others but the first relationship I have in my life is with myself. I realized the first person I should accept is myself and I do not seek the approval of others.
Ā
Focus on what the good that you can do
Doing something that is beyond our limits is quite challenging. Sometimes we tend to have a hard time in looking for what we really love and what we are passionate about. But this is essential if we are to be satisfied with our success.
(6:54)Be authentic, be yourself, be compassionate, be always kind actually think of adding value to others
Ā (7:01) And once you have that intention in place donāt worry about other things. And what other people doubt about your motives because action speaks louder.Ā

She hosts Singaporeās Number 1 English Show every weekday afternoon from 1 to 4 pm., playing All the Great Songs in One Place.
Ā
Focus on what makes you happy
Ā People will always judge, no matter what we do, so let them. Hereās what Charmaine advised:Ā
(2:58) My advice would be, go there, hang out with your friends, do your own thing,Ā
Ā (3:06)Stop worrying about what people judge.Ā
Ā
Finding your worth
Most people attach their worth along with the material things they possess. But this is not a good practice for your self-esteem.
(3:34) - You donāt have to follow the crowd
Ā (3:54) In fact happier if not equally happy without the latest gadgets, I was like ā I could do thisā
(4:03)You know just go out there be yourself do your thing whether or not itās against the norm we donāt need to follow the trends. You are who you are and if you express it go for it.
Ā
Ā
Charisma defined
When it comes it being charismatic, Charmaine encourages us to highlight our best trait.
(4:14) It is in a person, I would say, to me taking the best trait that you think you have and making it work to your advantage
For example, if you think your smile is your thing then smile as fun as you can. If you think your voice is your thing then use it and that transcends into confidence which to me equates to charisma. Charisma is very importantĀ
A dynamic personality
Whatever you aspire to be these words of wisdom from Charmaine will help you in your journey.
(5:12) Have a dynamic personalityĀ
(5:19) people must want to listen to you, so you must give people something to listen to. I mean you have to make it interestingĀ

FWEP00016 Secrets of success From street kid to CEO of a publicly-listed company With Dr. Patrick Liew, Managing Partner of Global Enterprise Exchange and Founder of Success Resources
Ā
In this episode, we have a very special guest. He is the founder and CEO of two different companies and listed them on ASX and SGX. He was previously the regional CEO of a strategic advisory firm and was involved in listing the firm in the NYSE.
He is also actively involved with civic and philanthropic circles.
Ā
Dare to dream
Every single day we are encouraged to really live out our dreams. We should focus on what we really love and what can help us grow.Ā
(3:48) I was a street kid
(3:54) ā¦at 15 years old I became a Christian and thatās the reason I wanted to be a social workerĀ
(4:09)And later on, I discover that as an entrepreneur I can be even better than a social worker. As an entrepreneur, you know the dream is to build up a company thatās what everybody thinks as a social worker you want to make a positive difference in peopleās lives. As an entrepreneur, you know if through my business I can provide jobs for my people. Through running a very good business selling good products and services I can help people live a better life. Ā
Ā
Boldly moving towards success
Before achieving success thereās a lot of roadblocks that might hinder us.Ā So, how do we face all those roadblocks in life? Dr. Patrick fights his roadblocks in a very unique way.Ā
(4:37)When I started Success Resources we had a dream of changing the world through education. And I am very proud to say that today we are arguably the largest seminar organizing company in the world. Ā
(4:55)First of all you must ask yourself what do you love to do, this is what I call passion. Secondly, ask yourself what can you do very well, this is what I call performance.
(5:07) Thirdly, Ask yourself what is important for you to do at this point in your life, which is a priority. Finally, and most important all you need to ask yourself what is your purpose.
Ā
Defining Charisma
Dr. Patrick believes there are 3 stages to be charismatic. He summarized the stages saying:
(5:46) 1st stage is they must like me
Ā (5:56) They must trust me, so thatās the second stage.
Ā (5:59) And then finally, I must come to a point where they respect me
(6:04) Charisma has to do with likeability, trustworthiness and respect.Ā
Ā
Aim for excellence
The best way to get better results is to strive for excellence at all times.
Ā (6:15) E stands for Excellence so if Iām gonna be charismatic if I want to be charismatic, whatever I do I must aim to achieve excellence.Ā Be the best that you can.Ā
(6:27) Finally, to be charismatic we must be able to fulfill our mission in life.
Ā
Ā The synergy of the Four Cs
Ā What are these? Hereās whatĀ Dr. Patrick shared about the Four Cs.Ā
(6:40) First C is what I called commitment you must have commitment. If you donāt have commitment nothing will work. Ā
The second thing that you need to have is, you need to have charisma. Youāre not born with it you need to develop it you need to apply it in your life.
(6:52) The third C has to do with competence, competence has to do with knowledge. And you need the A you need to have the right attitude. You need S, you need skils, you need to be able to make things happen and finally, you need H, H stands for habits
Ā (7:05) And the last C is compassion.Ā
Ā
Great Advice
Wherever we go we always seek a piece of advice from someone who can help us enlighten our minds. Dr, Patrick teaches us the following Pās to remember:Ā
(7:18) First P is you must know your purpose in life. If you donāt know your purpose how can you can you make a difference? The second P is Personality what is true about you? What is real about you? What do you live for? What do you believe in? What do you stand for? What are you inspired to do? You must live it with your life, put it in action. Without action, you can never have results.Ā
(7:35) The next P is Planning if you fail to plan you plan to fail.Ā

FWEP00015 Kim Kiyosaki: Invest In Yourself And Get To Financial Freedom with Rich Woman
In this episode we have a very special guest is none other than Kim Kiyosaki. She is an Internationally renowned speaker, best-selling author of āRich Womanā and āGood Deal, Bad Dealā, Radio Show Host, Entrepreneur and Real Estate Investor. She is also the founder of the Rich Woman organisation. Kim realised early on in her career that she didnāt want to be an employee. In search of something more, she worked to develop her skills and made her first real estate purchase. She now controls millions of dollars of investment property and is committed to helping women achieve financial freedom through investing and taking control of their financial futures.Ā
Rich woman book
Kim Kiyosaki wrote the book entitled āRich Womanā. Here she shared the inspiration behind the birth of the book:Ā
(3:45)The reason Genecia I wrote Rich Woman was because Robert and I, we travel the world teaching the Rich Dad philosophy taking two big groups and I will get up on stage and I will speak to the women for just a few minutes and at every event whether it's Singapore or we're London, Tokyo, Johannesburg wherever it was at the end of the event Iād always be surrounded by women and they had the same questions and the same issues and the biggest thing I realized is there's a huge huge huge demand for women to be educated about money and actually, we women, not only have we not been expected to know much about money but weāve actually been taught to depend upon somebody else for our financial well-being.
Financial LiteracyĀ
Financial independence is not based on gender. It happens through education. This is Kimās encouragement for women to be financially secured:
(4:52)So my whole message is we need to be in control of our finances we need to step-up and be financially literate and ideally it's up to each one of us to be financially securedĀ
(5:07)Nobodyās gonna do that for usĀ
(5:09)No financial advisor no financial planner it's up to us. And it's not rocket science anybody can do it but it takes time and it takes education
Ā She added that to be financially stable requires a process:Ā
(6:17)Actually starting to take control of your finances starts very simple. You start small and take baby steps we donāt go for the big deals we stick with the small deals. And the most important thing is that understand thereās no secret sauce, thereās no magic pillĀ
(6:49)Itās a process and itās a process of education, itās a process of experience but itās not difficult.Ā
(06:58)itās just a matter of committingĀ
Risk taking in Business
You donāt have to have it all figured out to start a business. Oftentimes you donāt have anything but risk. Hereās how Kim started from nothing:Ā
(7:41)I started with nothing and Iām gonna tell you that the best thing of all is that I didnāt have the money, Robert and I did not have the money. Ā
(8:10)Probably for the first 10-12 real estate deals I did, I did not have the money now what that forces you to do is get very very very creativeĀ
For Kim, she chose real estate as an avenue to invest:
(8:22)Once you see the property or whatever investment it is youāre interested in. Once you see it , and touch it and feel it then put your mind to work on how can I now get the money, how can I create the money in order to get the investment.
(9:54)What you want to do is create positive cash flow. My investment of choice is real estate thereās many other ways to gather cash flow whatever works for you.
(10:05)But we had 10 thousand dollars a month cash flow from our rental properties. But we only had 3 thousand dollars a month in living expenses. So at that point $10,000 coming in and $3,000 going out we were financially free.Ā
Ā
Achieving financial freedom
Financial freedom may seem difficult at first but it is not impossible. As Kim ventured into Real Estate this is what they experienced:Ā
(10:39)Number 1 I did not have to worry about money anymore and number 2 it gave me the luxury to ask myself what I really want to do with my life. So itās all about financial freedom.Ā
(10:50)Itās about freedom, not so much about the money but freedom is that having choices to live the life you want to live. Thatās what itās about.
Filling up the gap in your cash flow
Thereās no one way to fill the gap, but the key is education and being fearless. Here is Kimās encouragement:
(11:57)I made a ton of mistakes, a ton.Ā I mean thatās the key to success, Iām gonna tell you right now, that the key to success is making mistakes everybody is still afraid of making a mistake, the only way we learn is by making a mistake.Ā
(12:24)The key is you gotta got into action I will always say get some education get some education get some financial education on the asset class you like and then once you have some education start very small take baby steps put a little money down because as soon as you put so many down my interest goes way up.Ā
(12:57)One thing I recommend for women especially is to go out and buy a 1 ounce silver coin. itās been across 20 dollars US today. But what that does because you know got this asset this gold or silver coin all of the sudden your interest will go up will look at the prices of silver every single day, whatās it doing. Why is it up, why is it down? And because youāve just parted with 20 dollars US you become this quasi expert on silver.Ā
(13:31)Iām a big believer in youāve gottaĀ put some money down, get into the game and then thatās where the real learning happens. You gotta go out and do the real thing.Ā
Raising kids and being married while building your wealth
Your family, most importantly your kids should not be a reason for you not to seek for financial stability. Although Kim and Robert donāt have kids, she shared a very good example here:Ā
(14:09)Robert and I do not have kids, really by choice.
(14:19)But my girlfriends for example Lisa Lannon, sheās a Rich Dad advisor, she and her husband Josh, they have very successful businesses they have 2 kids they involve their kids in their business, they involve their kids in their investing so when they go out and lock at a property they bring the children along so they educate the kids as well as educate themselves. So for women, especially with the internet thereās so much opportunity offer in the internet for business and things like that I think the parent of course can be the best teacher. So why not include the kids. It amazes me how young kids get interested in money. They know about money. When their very very young. So why not educate them while your educating yourself.Ā
(15:14)I donāt think it has to be one or the other.Ā I think you can do it together.
(15:21)and same with the relationship same with couples Iām not advocating for the woman to go out there sheās married and she has a life partner then she goes out there and do this all by herself and separate from her spouse this is ideally investing itās something you want to do together as a couple because you grow together you learn together.Ā
Invest in yourself
Being a woman is not an excuse to remain financially dependent on someone else. Be encouraged with Ki...
