  • 4: Elena Cardone And Grant Cardone: Women In Power

Be a woman in power with Elena Cardone Grant CardoneEmpire AUTHOR | PUBLIC SPEAKER

In this episode, we’ll be empowered through the words of wisdom of our special guest. She is the Queen of her Empire, she has designed, constructed and protected a life outside of the ordinary. She has inspired a legion of followers to create their own empires – lives that are truly fulfilling and beyond the average. She counts her current job as her most important one – Chief Family Officer, where she is a loving mother, fierce wife and loyal friend.

    Overcoming roadblocks

Elena’s life is quite challenging because she experienced a lot of struggles at a young age. She witnessed a fire across their house and killed two people despite their efforts to put out the fire.
    Ā

(4:47)ā€œAt 14 years old not having anything so traumatic occur in my life I just wasn’t skilled enough at my age to deal with something like that and my father had fought in World War II and he was a military person and we’re just very conservative family. So it wasn’t like there was any time to really to cope it was life must go on.ā€

Despite all this roadblock she pushed her way to move and step forward which led her to become the independent woman that she is now.

    Passion and desire

(5:55) ā€œSo at 17 I decided I’ve got to get out of here I’m going to Los Angeles I’m gonna be something I’m gonna become an actress.ā€

Indeed, because of her passion and desire she got her 2 and half month contract in Tokyo as a model and actress and became somewhat successful. She didĀ  modeling, acting and commercials as well.

    Ā Independent woman Ā

    Ā (6:21)ā€œWhen I met Grant the first five years of our marriage I was still doing this woman independent thing like we were married and I thought marriage is monogamy. I thought it was only about that. I didn’t realize that if I’ll partner up with someone it strengthens the numbers.ā€Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā

(7:23) ā€œWhen economic collapse occurred that’s when I decided to trade in my acting career which I was terrified to do because it was what I depended on for my survival since I moved to Los Angeles by myself at 17.ā€

Getting used to being independent as a teenager it was a challenge for Elena to see how a husband can contribute to her success as a woman.

ā€œWe had a power struggle because I am super independent and I don’t want anyone to control meā€

    Financial Freedom

(8:29) ā€œ We wanted to take that power in our own hands, so I have this idea about this empire, okay if he is the king and I am the queen and this is our empire what do I want it to look like? Who do I want to surround ourselves with? Do we hang out with the people with drugs and alcohol?ā€

So, Elena and her husband cleaned up their lives because it’s part of being a positive influence. They focused on building their empire, foregoing all luxuries they enjoyed before to pool all their resources towards their business, until they become successful and gained financial freedom.Ā
(9:18) ā€œNow that we have created so much success in our lives financially we do have financial freedom not just financial independence.ā€
    Ā

Ā Tips on How to work with a partner
(9:46)ā€œA few little adjustments to get you both operating on the same page so that you can really utilize each other’s horsepower to push yourself instead of without even realizing it working against each other or you might go like this or you must like go straight down. But if you actually know how to work together and know each other’s roles, strengths and weaknesses and how you can build together, like push yourself on. Just eliminate the few incorrect pieces of datum because as they say ā€œknowledge is powerā€.

(10:22)ā€œIf you get rid of bad key elements and then tweak and get on the same page it so much easier than you think. There’s still gonna beĀ  work, there’s still gonna be sacrifice, it’s still gonna take time but you will be able to exponentially up the rocket fasterā€

    Solving Problem

(11:02)ā€œStop thinking so much unless it’s a broad picture of possibility.ā€
Ā Start looking for the possibilities, start looking for the opportunities sometimes your biggest problem can be your biggest solution. If you are having that problem you figure out how to solve it, chances are if you solve that for other people you can scale that business out.

(11:45)ā€œIf you need to have help, if you need to, hire somebody while you figure this out don’t feel like you are a superhero and do everything yourself at some point maybe ask your friend to help you until you can afford to pay someone to help you but you just have to go out and do something.Ā  Take action, stop thinking and do and you can do even if your knees are trembling, even if you think it’s not going to work and you feel ridiculous.ā€
    Ā

    Equipping women’s confidence
Women's are powerful. As Elena stated:Ā

26:27 I wanna equip women with the confidence.Ā

(26:36) I want women to mind their own goals who are they, not only a brand but as their contribution and not with hold that from the world like if we all lived up to our potential or try to fight for the greatness how could that impact the world. We could make a big difference wouldn’tĀ  just be a fairytale idea in my head like there would be real transformation. If people actually deliver their gifts and I want women to expose that and give it to the world and stop with holding and stop thinking their not good enough. And stop thinking they have nothing to contribute. It’s so selfish women are so powerful, and so dynamic and there so aesthetic just imaging if the world operated that aesthetic wavelength you know how difference just that could be. Ā

    Ā Key Takeaways:

    1. Sharing control does not diminish your worth.
    2. Sacrifices are important to pursue life’s priorities.
    3. If you have to, ask for help until you can stand back on your own feet.
    4. A mindset shift is important to achieve success.
    5. It’s never too late to learn something new.

Since that time, all seven of Ms. Buffett’s books have been best-sellers.

    A woman of influence

According to Marry a woman of influence is someone meansĀ
(4:30)ā€œhow much we can do as women and influence our children, our husbands' politics, finance and all kinds of ways of influencing the world to be more peaceful and prosperous placeā€

Women plays a big role when it comes to being influential, not just around the corner but around the world also.
(4:56) ā€œTo be a woman of influence is a woman who influences anyone and anything basically.
(5:23) I guess it would be to teach my children and other children and other women especially to feel that they can do it. Just as anyone can do it.Ā  But especially women I think women are actually better investors than men I think our intentions are better.ā€
    Ā

    Ā Favorite moment of influence

(6:46) The best thing I’ve done is while my children were in school was to influence their classmates by being a role model by being a single mom with my son and really being involved. And helping young man to become good man.

What does success mean in building an empire?

(7:27) Success means that I got an opportunity to share with other people and that’s the most important thing to me. We need to share what we’ve learned, what we have and what we can do.

Ā Pursue your dream and make it happen

Through education we’ll learn a lot of things and through that we can achieve our dreams. Mary Buffet stated.

(9;10)Education is the most important driver of prosperity and influence.Ā

Ā (9:45)A man is not a plan, in other words you can do it yourself you can build something out of nothing as long as you
have the dream. So follow that dream don’t give up and it can happen.Ā

    Ā

    Ā

    Key Takeaways:

1.Ā  Ā  A woman can be influential if she decides to be.

2.Ā  Ā  You can make a difference in the world with your influence.

3.Ā  Ā  Empower women and children for the next generations.

4.Ā  Ā  An influential woman will teach others to be better people.

5.Ā  Ā  Being influential means having the opportunity to make the world a better place.

  • 2: Gary Vaynerchuk: Regrets Will Scare You Shitless

FWEP0002 Regrets will scare you shitless with Gary Vaynerchuk VaynerX Vaynermedia

    Ā

Our special guest today is best known for his work in digital marketing and social media as the chairman of New York-based communications company, VaynerX, and as CEO of VaynerX subsidiary, VaynerMedia. Please sit back and relax while listening to Gary Vaynerchuk. In this episode, we’ll be moved and inspired on how he differentiates men and women of influence.
    Ā

    Embrace your Differences

Ā Being influential can sometimes be natural or forced. It can be forced simply because people are expecting you to step up or someone is watching you. The influence that comes out naturally and willingly will be determined in the ability to adjust to individual differences. As human beings, we all have a fair shot on being influential.

Ā Gary stated his point of view on influence by saying: Ā
(3:03)ā€œMy viewpoints on women are exactly the same as my viewpoint with some men. They’re human beings that ran the world. I’m intrigued by the notion of the conversation of anything men, women,Ā  minorities, to me I think it’s pretty binary , I think it’s humans versus other animals so you know obviously I understand the differences I think there’s an unbelievable amount of advantages for all sexes, all races to me I’m optimistic about that.Ā

    Ā Advantage of being differentĀ

Sometimes we are led by fear and lack of self-confidence to embrace our differences so we shy away from being influential. We fail to realize that what makes us different can make us shine. We just don’t recognize it.
Ā (3:42) ā€œEmbrace your differences because they’re your advantages. I don’t ever have a great answer for other than I think there’s a lot of advantages to being a woman and that you should figure those out and execute against that.ā€

    Ā

    Character matters
In life, we face different people and obstacles but we must never let go of our values and character. They are essential foundations to the kind of influence we will have.

    Gary V. clearly stated
(4:23) ā€œI don’t think a lot of people think about influence, I think it’s natural, there’s a lot of words for it, charisma, popularityĀ  to me the thing that I’m surprised by is how many people don’t realize that your interpersonal skill setĀ  is probably the biggest variable to your happiness andĀ  success in life.Ā  One of the things I spend a lot of time thinking about is how incredibly naive it is to not be kind, to not be empathetic to not be grateful.ā€

    Ā

    Let history be your teacher

You don’t need to experience something to be good at it, sometimes what others did right or wrong can be your ticket to a better future or business that them.Ā

(5:43) ā€œI’m a very big fan of looking at history like all the answers have been in front of your face the whole time there are literally, very few people in the history of time that have created meaningful businesses and lasted a decade. So what I would tell people is instead of thinking you’re gonna be the once in a generation person that box the trends of how much time and effort and smarts and hard workĀ  it takes to being successful Why don’t you look at the 20 plus years that took Amazon to get here and start realizing that it will take a lot of hard work and a lot of time.ā€
    Ā
    Ā

    Key Takeaways:Ā

    1. You can be influential if you have the right character.
    2. Influence does not mean lording over others.
    3. Be unique but learn from others.
    4. Confidence will make your influence stronger.
    5. Success will sometimes take a long time, hang on.

However, behind this beautiful face there is a hardworking and self-sacrificing woman in power. This young lady had it all, but easy. FWEP0001 Not Everything Is As It Seems - Women in Power Singapore with Genecia Alluora

    Ā

In this episode, let me encourage you as a former Miss Singapore and Southeast Asia Woman of Excellence in 2010; and founder of Soul Rich Woman, the number one female entrepreneur network in Southeast Asia that connects more than 12,000 women across the region, with presence in 7 countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia.Ā
    Ā

    Self-Supporting
At an early age of 14 I have learned to face challenges and took on responsibilities due to life’s circumstances.
(3:33)ā€œA lot of people thought that when I was Ms. Singapore they think that I was born with a silver spoon. But it did not start that way I had to support myself through school since I was 14 years old, teaching Yoga, aerobics and line dancing through my school years so I put myself through college I put myselfĀ  through university so it was really tough.ā€

    Ā

    Financial Crisis
Due to a financial crisis, I had to step up and think of ways to support myself and my family. I had to do sacrifices to make it through in life.

(4:06)ā€œAt that time my dad lost everything due to the financial crisis.Ā
(4:20) Because of that I had to come up and do my own stuff and I think that has really molded me through my years and then after that I became an occupational therapist.Ā
(4:53) Back then I was the youngest instructor in Singapore and then I went on to do classes but it was not easy because when I’m seeing other girls doing things in their free time they are going to the movie, going for shopping and then I’m working after school.ā€Ā

    Empowering Women
What I experienced during my teenage years gave me a better perspective on influence and how it can be used to empower others.

(5:47) ā€œI’ve come along way with my experiences, now it’s time to share and shortcut other woman's journey and empower others because empowered women empower others.
(6:45) After that I took on these skills, I went on to coach and mentor many women to transform their confidence from being ugly duckling to be more confident and become the better version of themselves.ā€
    Ā
    Ā

    The motivation to change
As I moved up the ladder and gained success, I realized I needed more freedom and not be bound by time and money.

(6:56)ā€œBecause I went through that transformation myself too. That movement actually gave me the confidence to do more in my life. In 2012-2013 I told myself I’m no longer going to trade time for money because as an image consultant you work you get paid when you stop working you don’t get paid. So I said I want to move this online.ā€
    Ā

    Ā Process of growth
You need to expand and broaden your horizons to progress in life. You need to invest in yourself too.

(7:21) ā€œSo I went through a process seeking mentors, looking for coaches to coach me on the process spent hundreds and thousands of dollars looking for resources to grow my knowledge.Ā
(7:38)I worked my way up then I took my vision of helping more women to be more confident and then I started a platform called ā€œYou are possible academyā€ because I launched my own book in 2013, it’s about personal branding then after that I went online.ā€
    Ā
    Ā

    A heart for women

Despite the success that I attained there was still something missing, I felt like I wasn’t where I was supposed to be.

(8:25) ā€œDuring this whole period my heart has always been with the women even though I was doing the retail business. It was tough, because there was a calling at the back of my head like ā€œGenecia you gotta do thisā€ you can’t just give up the women and just do a coffee retail chain. Move up and do more.ā€

    Ā

    Stepping stoneĀ

(11:15) ā€œYou know back then, I was bullied I was really bullied by mean girls in school. You know I was poor, I really didn’tĀ  have any money to change my bag or even to change my clothes besides my school clothes.ā€
I faced the roadblocks in my life. From adjusting to our family’s financial situation to being bullied at school and doing jobs while studying. These situations could have hindered me, but instead of viewing them as stumbling blocks I used them as stepping stones to reaching my dreams.
    Ā
    Ā

    Key Takeaways:Ā

    1. Success is not determined by financial status.
    2. Life’s changes should not stop you from pursuing your dreams.
    3. Keep learning, keep growing.
    4. Do not give up on what you are most passionate about.
    5. Roadblocks are stepping stones.
