I know how you’re feeling. I really really do.
You can’t think about anything else.
You’re worried sick about it.
And you’re paralyzed with fear that something is or isn’t going to happen, and it’s consuming you.
I know exactly how you’re feeling, because I have dealt with chronic anxiety my entire life, and I’m here to help you deal with anxiety and ultimately overcome it for good.
According to wikipedia, anxiety is "an emotion characterized by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by nervous behavior such as pacing back and forth, somatic complaints, and rumination. It includes subjectively unpleasant feelings of dread over anticipated events.
Anxiety is a feeling of uneasiness and worry, usually generalized and unfocused as an overreaction to a situation that is only subjectively seen as menacing. It is often accompanied by muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue and problems in concentration. Anxiety is closely related to fear, which is a response to a real or perceived immediate threat; anxiety involves the expectation of future threat. People facing anxiety may withdraw from situations which have provoked anxiety in the past."
Let’s breakdown this definition even further.
In particular, I want to really dissect the caption, “it includes subjectively unpleasant feelings of dread over anticipated events.”
Essentially, anxiety is a feeling that is created internally, subjectively, over an event that has not even happened yet.
Subjective means “based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.” It means that is curated by a person’s perception and not necessarily by fact, truth, or law.
Let’s stop there for a minute. When we have anxiety, we are worried about something that has not even happened yet, and we are the only person that is causing this worry to be.
Which means that the power of this feeling and emotion is only in your hands. It is not tied to someone else, it is not brought on by someone else, it is brought on by you.
That means you have the power to overcome your anxiety, and I am here to help you figure out how. Let's dive right in now.
xo,
Lauren
