Politics and politicians are something that doesn’t scream Silver Lining Life Podcast BUT it does when it is a storyteller that talks about things like changing your job to be closer to your family, running positive campaigns and sharing specific goals and the way to implement the goal so your community will still benefit from them even if you aren’t elected. Jason Henderson is our storyteller this week and he shares his career path from surveyor to elected official to now running for Mayor of his small town. In terms of politicians he doesn’t at all seem like one and in fact, his wife doesn’t even like when he refers to himself that way. I think you will agree that he doesn’t quite fit the old school idea of a politician. He wraps up the episode talking about how we can all get involved in our communities to make huge changes right where we live. I think you will really enjoy this episode and find Jason to be a breath of fresh air in the political arena.

Greg Powell shares how some major health issues led to huge changes in his life. He shares how he went from having horrible indigestion to major surgery to almost dying a month post-surgery. From there he made major changes in his life from diet and exercise to how he views life now. Greg shares how he lost 100 pounds and everything feels better now both mentally and physically. He talks about the perspective that is gained from going through such a scary experience and that it was the fear of dying not doing anything was more than the fear of trying that catapulted him to really turn things around for him. I loved when he said he moved out of the comfort zone and fear zone into a self-improvement zone and wanting to live zone. We talk about putting in the long game to make changes that stick and also a bit about running to round out the episode. It is incredibly inspiring and I think you are going to love this episode!

This is such a deep conversation that I believe will resonate so well because even if you haven’t experienced the loss of someone close to you, you know the fear of that. Valerie Howard tells her story of losing her mom to cancer and how she has found her way through that journey. Valerie shares in such a real and relatable way of going through something hard and how that process has gone for her. As crazy as it sounds, this is an uplifting talk even though it is a heavy topic. We talk about how she was always wishing things were different, better or more and how she has worked through that. We cover faith, healing, finding hope, being present and that the small stressors don’t matter at the end of the day.
