Today we meet Emma Skeates the successful author and blogger. BEST SELLING AUTHOR- ‘ Confessions of the menopausal mayhem mother’. She is currently writing a sitcom script and a very busy bee!!
Emma tells her story of how she had been swept off her feet at a time when she was an independent young woman travelling the world. She had no interests in being in a relationship but found herself unexpectedly in a whirlwind romance with a guy of her dreams. Fast forward eighteen months and we land onto her wedding day and Emma finds a whole different side to this man, a black cloud covered her life and everything changed. She was now with a man she barely recognised. Her new husband went on to abuse her using the classic manipulation, power and control, gaslighting, coercion, cheating, financial abuse- the list is painfully expansive. During this marriage Emma’s has two children which are the only glimmers of light. This story goes on to take a strange path as Emma gets to meet other women who also suffer at the hands of her husband. These ladies are all now friends and wonderful additions to Emma’s family, as step mums to her two beautiful daughters. I know you just couldn’t make this up. Emma’s guides us through until part two where the story unfolds
Emma has used her energy and her sense of humour to get her through as she says, ‘My humour is at its sharpest when I’m at my saddest’. She has gone on to use her wonderful, warm, vibrant funny self to write her books and is followed by over 300K fans she reaches 15 million women per month. Well done, Emma!!!!

In October 2021 the Domestic Abuse Bill for the first time included children and recognised any child within the dynamics of an abusive relationship or home As VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE, and are to be heard and support!
This will be upsetting for some, but it highlights the need for a trauma informed empathic approach to be used by all. If your child is school age and you have concerns, ask to speak to your schools safeguarding lead and request that your child and you receive support.
