WHEN SPENDING MONEY MAKES MONEY!

Hey Stef, I know this is a Philosophy show but I love when you talk about making money, and finances. SO much so here's some money.

This conversation is uncomfortable but in a good way.

This is profound. I live my public life like a man who is worth $100k. I could easily life my public life like a man who is worth $500k. I'm just lazy.

Stef, are you able to elaborate what this looks like for women?

Yeah I'm starting to realize the extra money gave me safety but I had a way worse life because I had a shit place and the safety made me lazier.

I still struggle with this cheap mindset as an adult. I was bullied into looking for the cheapest option or discounts as a kid. I hated it. It was exhausting. Now I spend money on quality things and I never want to cheap out again, but I still get that urge from time to time. Usually when buying food. I sometimes buy cheaper, but almost always regret it, because the food is usually terrible.

My brother constantly torches my ass over not owning a couch. When the ladies come over they get a first class virtual golfing experience in a creepy open room that looks a lot like a Dexter killing room. This might might not be an optimal breeding strategy.

I grew into money gradually. I was poor and the only things going for me were looks, talents and my class background. It could have seemed risky from woman's perspective to get involved with me as I only had potential for things in my early 20's. My wife (then girlfriend) inspired me to work hard and always stood by my side even when I wanted to give up. If it wasn't for her, I'd be living like a bum still.

What is your opinion about making children share? My daughter is almost 3 and thinks everything belongs to her and wants to snatch others kids toys and also doesn’t want other kids playing with her things. I don’t want my kid being obnoxious but I’m also kinda over hovering over her on play dates to make sure she’s playing correctly.

Stef, how do you find motivation to write a long novel? I've been daydreaming about writing novels for like a decade now but the sheer time it takes to get to the end of it feels so daunting that it demotivates me. It's like a crazy long marathon and I'm avoiding it because it feels like walking through a desert, even though I really really want to do it.

In my experience it's very hard to find a solid man who doesn't manipulate, bully and try to control. Where are they? I'm trying to break the cycle for my daughter.

I was raped by my employer and got together with him for protection. He manipulated, lied and I got pregnant.

My father threw me under the bus as a teenager. I wouldn't even think to call the police or go home.

Yes, he raped others I'm sure. It was a summer resort out in the middle of nowhere.

I've learned about the domino excuse from you. It's painful and I blame my father before turning 18. I think I was pretty messed up by that time bc I went out with a much older man and got pregnant. My parents insisted I have an abortion. I had terrible depression by the time I left home. It's hard to accept responsibility for the train wreck that ensued but you're right, I am responsible.

No you said you had not hit someone. You added fist fight after. I just thought it was curious.

I stated I was sorry I understood where you were coming from and it was in self defense, I know why you did it and I had opportunities when I was younger too. But did not.

You had not gone into detail about the hitting in your previous stream. The word just caught my attention as you mentioned you had never hit someone. So I think it’s a choice of words.

Thank you Stefan, you know how valuable this show is. I'm only just beginning to see how truly valuable it is, especially since I started working out regularly, going to therapy and journaling.

This stream has been great Stef, Thank You. I wish to be more like you, I may start going to therapy twice a week despite how pricy that can be it helps a lot. Once a week doesn't seem like it's enough, like exercising only once a week.
