Fresno Police are looking for the suspect in a fatal hit and run early this morning at Herndon and Milburn. The suspect dragged a woman 8 miles to the La Quinta Inn at Shaw and Cornelia before leaving the premises. Be on the lookout for a newer model Chevy Silverado full size crew cab pickup, silver or grey, with moon roof, a light bar, silver toolbox and significant front-end damage due to the collision. Mayor Dyer hosted the State of the City at Chukchansi Park Thursday night, highlighting progress with city initiatives and the hiring of police and firefighters. He also addressed issues with homelessness, public safety and housing availability issues.  Councilmember Bredefeld has accused Fresno City Council President Nelson Esparza of extorting City Attorney Doug Sloan. He alleges that Esparza would fire Sloan if he did work for anyone other than the "gang of 4." President Esparza has called the claims "baseless" and politically motivated. Fresno Co. District Attorney, Lisa Smittcamp, has endorsed Assistant Sherriff John Zanoni in the election for Fresno Co. Sherriff in June.
