  • Jesus’ Resurrection: The Beginning of a New Thing

Remember these four takeaways this Resurrection Sunday: Jesus’ resurrection has met our most impossible need. Jesus is alive; we are made overcomers: Live life knowing Jesus is alive. We must not forget His Word; we must keep reminding ourselves of His Truth. Finally, we must believe.

  • Jesus Was Before the Earth’s Foundations

In Hebrews 1:14, the idea of the Promised One being a ruler is directly contrasted to the nature of angels as servants. Angels ministered to Jesus after he was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, providing care and support after his 40-day fast (Matthew 4:11 and Mark 1:13). Angels are also “sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation” (v14) according to Hebrews; this reality is established throughout the Scriptures. Like us, angels are created by God. Unlike us or angels, Jesus is eternal and was with God before the earth’s foundations.

  • Jesus is Trustworthy

Thankfully, we can know with assurance that Jesus is our Savior and that He is the only Way to the Father. Jesus told us in the gospels that we must be born again and believe (John 3:16) and that He is the only Way to The Father (John 14:6). He also assures us that if we’ve seen Him, we have seen the Father (John 14:9).

  • Father, Son, Holy Spirit

In Acts 4:24, the apostles faced difficulties. They began their prayer: “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them.” The apostles were saying: “Before we come to You with our problems, we recognize You, Jesus, as The Creator. Since You create everything from nothing, our problem will be a piece of cake. Like the apostles, we must say: “‘You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,’ my problems are not too complex for You to manage.”

  • Jesus: Part of the Godhead

The Father anointed The Son with The Holy Spirit beyond His companions. As Jesus begins His earthly ministry, the Holy Spirit descends upon Him like a dove (Matthew 3:16-17, Mark 1:10, Luke 3:21-22, and John 1:32-34). The Holy Spirit was with Jesus as He made Himself the ultimate sacrifice. The Holy Spirit was involved in Jesus’ resurrection; thus, Jesus was anointed with the oil of gladness beyond His companions.

  • Jesus: King Eternal

Today, for all who place faith in the Godhead’s atoning work, you will experience life more abundantly and freely and become a citizen of this eternal kingdom where life, liberty, and justice exist for all. Under the sovereignty of the Godhead, you will never lack for any good thing.

  • Jesus’ Triumphal Entry: Preparation for a New Thing

The triumphal entry is one of the few accounts from Jesus’ life that appears in all four Gospels (Matthew 21:1-17; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:29-40; John 12:12-19). In Luke’s narrative, Jesus tells two disciples to go ahead of Him and get a donkey colt (19:31). Please do not neglect the dynamics many in the crowd overlooked that day. The people expected an Israeli military messiah. Instead, they received The Messiah of the world. The people looked for a warrior to alleviate their political rivals. Instead, they welcomed the warrior Who destroyed their greatest adversaries: death, hell, and the grave. The people were cheering The One they thought would restore David’s throne. Instead, they acclaimed The One Who is seated at The Sovereign Majesty’s right hand on high (Hebrews 1:3).

  • Jesus: A Person of the Godhead

Hebrews states: God makes His angels messengers and servants. We, too, are messengers and servants, but through Christ Jesus, we are additionally the adopted children of God. We bring a unique worship that angels cannot bring to the throne of God. We worship The Godhead as Their redeemed. Redeemed by the Blood of The Lamb.

  • Jesus Is Worth of Worship

I have had people argue that worship belongs solely to God, not Jesus; however, in Titus 2:13, the Apostle Paul writes, “Our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Peter agrees with Paul when he writes, “Jesus Christ, our God, and Savior” (2 Peter 1:1). In Hebrews, the writer expresses that even the angels worship Jesus. Jesus is worthy of our worship.

  • The Most Excellent Name

The Godheads’ first recorded words in Scripture are: “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). Hebrews express that Jesus is the ‘radiance’ of the glory of God. Jesus, after making purification for humanity’s sins, sat down at the right hand of The Majesty, having become as much superior to angels as the Name He has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
