Friendly Potential Radio

The music of Athenian producer Anatolian Weapons occupies a liminal space, somewhere between the dancefloor and the void. Aggelos hones in on this area on his recent long-form release with Seirios Savvaidas for Beats In Space, To The Mother Of Gods. He is also a ravenous and creative DJ, who lets us inside his head for 80 minutes.

After that, Dave Fernandes serves a dubbier and pitched back mix. Dave has been working it out in Sydney's club and warehouse underground since 2005, firstly with HAHA Industries, and more recently with House of Mince. He is a resident at Club Mince, the crews well loved club night serving the Sydney queer underground. Gary War is an American avant-garde musician, ex-Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti member, frequent John Maus and Bob Trimble collaborator, who has featured on labels including Sacred Bones, Spectrum Spools, Upset The Rhythm and others. This week, he is performing at The Others Way Festival 2019 in Auckland and Wellington, and in Dunedin and Christchurch with John Maus and Purple Pilgrims.

Vazy Julie is a powerhouse in a fiercely independent Marseille music scene. She and her crew steer @metaphorecollectif & she has strong ties to the @bfdmrec family. Julie also runs the outré Meta - Zone Libre, so we get a glimpse of what it sounds like to party in her world for the second hour. Giddy up, its wild.

Grace has just announced the inaugural Outlier Festival, which will take place between the 16th and 18th August, primarily at the Audio Foundation. She presents a survey of the artists who will perform. After that, we hear from Danny Creature, a musician and producer with Élan Vital, Death and the Maiden, and Thought Creature. For the show, Danny lets us into his vault to hear a compilation of jams, experiments, practices and meditations that would otherwise go unheard.
