10 Barrel started back in 2006 in Bend, Oregon by just three guys. They all had the same set of ideals: Brew Beer, Drink Beer, Have Fun Doing It. Spiral Staircase is a Cherry Baltic Porter with notes of chocolate, cacao, sour cherry, and a rounding flavor of cinnamon.

Season Greetings, everyone! This week, Ryan and Alex are trying Plant Based Drippin by Local Craft Beer Brewery. Based out of Tehachapi, CA, Local Craft Beer Brewery is a very new brewery with a very notable trait - it’s all vegan, baby. Including the beer we’re trying this week, Plant Best Drippin, an IPA made in collaboration with Local Craft Beer and well known rapper and outspoken vegan, Gray. This beer debuted at the Eat-Drink-Vegan Festival in Pasadena this past May and has been a hit ever since. In Plant Based Drippin you’ll find flavors of galaxy hops and vic secret hops, leading to a fruit and citrusy taste with lots of mouthfeel.

Wee Heavy Scotch Ale is has a rich and full bodied taste, with roasted malt sweetness balanced by a spicy fruitiness.

It’s only appropriate that Sonora Wheat be the very beer we highlight this week! This wheat ale contains a spicy wheat flavor with a touch of melon.

Hey everyone! This week, Ryan and Alex continue their Los Angeles Brewery Adventure and pay a visit to Brewyard Beer Company. Brewyard’s simple mission is to “redefine and rediscover a style of beer that was invented in California during the 1800s for Californians - The ‘Common’ style Lager.” The Common Lager are beautiful hybrids that offer strong flavor like an ale but still retain a lighter crisper finish of a lager. They expanded this category of lagers to encompass over a dozen flavors from hoppy, roasty, smoky, malty, coffee-y, honey sweet, and pale. They like to call them California Lagers. During the podcast, we’ll be drinking Lazy Hager, which has tastes of tropical fruit, with a balancing hop profile. It’s cloudy, refreshing, and has a nice crisp finish.

Happy October, everybody! We’re starting this spooky month off right with a radical new style of beer, Milkshake IPAs! That’s right, the new craze has hit FDB, and Ryan and Alex are excited to see what all the fuss is about. The beer we’re trying is Strawberry Alarm Clock by Concrete Jungle Brewing Project. Will Shelton and Erik Santos have come up with an innovative line of beers, ranging anywhere from unfiltered German lager to custom-blended wild ales. Taking Shelton’s extensive historical knowledge of beer and Santos’ homebrewing skills, Concrete Jungle aims to make beer with 4 basic principles: harmony, balance, complexity, and restraint. Strawberry Alarm Clock has aromas of strawberry ice cream with a hint of vanilla, and a lush mouthfeel ending in a light bitterness.

We’ll also be talking with our good friend, and fellow beer enthusiast Cee, from B.A.O.S Podcast, who’ll tell us all we need to know about this new beer style.
