  • From the Middle - Easter Weekend, Weird Things to Do When Alone, and Space Jam
#096. Happy Easter, friends! We begin by recounting how our holiday weekends went along with stories from Kory's travels, which brought up some interesting conversation about the thrill of driving someone else's toys, stage lighting, and re-learning social skills in a world slowly opening back up. Also, we admit to the weird things we do when no one is looking. Do you sing musical tunes when you're home alone? Dillon does. Do you make up raps with swear words to narrate your day? Kendall does. Do you rearrange your furniture to suit your gaming preference and order four days of Taco Bell for yourself? Kory does. We round the conversation out by discussing what we're currently streaming as we wait for the new Space Jam film to release. Do you dance like no one's watching on your own time? Have you driven a friend's Corvette like it was a rental? How amazing do you assume Space Jam: A New Legacy to be? Let us know! Link below to choose your favorite way to do so!

  • From the Middle - Bird Orphanages, App Recommendations, and Underpant(s)
#095. Dillon's favorite number, 95, accompanies this episode. Shout out to the little defensive tackle from northern Ohio! We begin by sharing our vaccine status and what that means for us in the near future and what the experience has taught Kendall about his physical coordination. Then we bring back our avian discussions as we try to save the birds and educate the world on the issues of homeless parrots. Kory shares his positive experience with a newish social platform, Clubhouse, and a new-to-him platform, Patreon. We then pivot to talking about the stunningly shiny sax player from The Lost Boys, Tim Cappello, and the Cameo gift Kory and Dillon surprised Kendall with. Finally, we wrap with what has become a polarizing topic among those of us in the middle: men's underwear. All over the place topically with this one. The serious stuff got the comedy treatment, the goofy stuff got taken too seriously. You know how we roll. Keep reaching out, friends! We love it!

  • From the Middle - Tasting Columbus with Matt Teegarden
#094. Matt Teegarden is the host for 614 Magazine's new video series, Tasting Columbus. Matt holds a Ph.D. in food science which is accompanied by a charisma which makes him a joy of a guide through today's food scene, but also makes him an interesting and informative interview. We love food on this podcast and Matt was kind enough to give us some of his time to answer questions about what food science is all about as he walks us down what his curious taste buds have been finding. Sandwiches, pizza, waffles, baked goods, and more don't get far without creative minds and skilled people behind them and we also get to touch on some of those stories. This episode goes well with a pot of mashed potatoes and a local brew. Once you have those things ready, hit "play" and enjoy this one with us! Please, feel free to connect with us and let us know of your favorite food joints!

  • From the Middle - St. Paddy’s Day, Comfy Clothes, and “You’re Doing Great!”
#093. Happy St. PaDDy’s Day! We hope you’re St. Patrick’s Day is as green as Kory’s underwear. Yep. We talk underwear...more than even we expected we could. But hey, when a man puts on a new pair it’s exciting! Also, did you know the Grammy Awards happened? We didn’t. We did, however still talk about that but concluded you should get your Grammy takes elsewhere. You come to us for things like lamb tacos and other dumb ideas to Americanize Irish foods. Food is the enemy in Kendall’s life which has kept shirts from fitting right. He shares some of his current journey down the “does this make me look fat when I sit down?” path. Finally, middler Mike got us watching the newest installment of comedy from Tom Papa. “You’re Doing Great” is his 2020 special that we’ve recently enjoyed. Share your stories with us! Do you have anything we need to watch or listen to? How do YOU cover that handsome gut? Let us know via social, email, or voice mails! Just no underwear pics.

  • From the Middle - Wanda, Vision, Brian Regan: Someone Fix the Ice Cream Machine!
#092. Everyone anywhere near our overlap of podcast topics is giving deep dives into MCU's WandVision. A "middle" approach would be to discuss the series so a child can understand it. So what did we do? We asked some kids questions about what they thought! Not too far from a young view of MCU you'll find Kendall. There's irony to the fact that he's been binging MCU material recently and mostly for the first time. He gives his take as well. Kory and Dillon, the vets of this universe, chime in to raise the bar a bit on the discussion. Something for all interest levels in here! Also, McDonald's ice cream machines are still broken...and we still very much dislike that. Finally, an old favorite comedian, Brian Regan, has a fabulous new special out! We all watched it. We all highly recommend it! Hear all about it! Then please let us know your thoughts! Find us on social or give us a call and leave a message which we may feature in a future episode! Information below!

  • From the Middle - The Wonderful Wizard of Za with Spencer Saylor
#091. We've been off to see the wizard and now we tell the tale! Spencer Saylor, owner of The Wizard of Za in Columbus, Ohio, has had a 2020 to remember. From Instagram foodie to pizza chef and restaurant owner, he experienced a business be born and grow to local notoriety within a year. We do talk pizza eventually, but Spencer already has a wealth of experience to share with all of us who have dreams. He chats with us about focusing on your strengths, embracing simplicity, and taking the right risks while staying down-to-earth and trusting the process of creating something worth sharing. In an environment of limited dine-in ability, he mentions the ways he develops relationships and a sense of ownership for his customers. In a like manner, Spencer was warm with us and gave rich answers to our questions. Did we mention we tried his pizza? It is amazing. You should, too. Sign up on Instagram @wizardofza. If you're not local to Columbus, keep it in mind when you come around! Thank you, Spencer; and not just for the vodka sauce.

  • From the Middle - Unequally Yolked Barbies and Other Ohio Stereotypes
#090. Do you have a particular brand of gummy bears that you prefer? Do you have a fur grandbaby? Do you have experience with the new gimmicks that are selling Barbies? Well, Kendall does, Kory does, and Dillon does respectively. And if that's not enough to tickle your curiosity, we also talk about how social media is ruining the way people interact. You know what we mean: egg yolk firmness. We then cover a food poll where Dillon puts some of our favorite foods on the chopping block and we have to make some tough choices before ending with confirming or denying a list of Ohioan stereotypes as self-proclaimed spokespeople for the entire state. Do we assume more than we know? That's likely. Feel free to yell at us or chime in! Details below for where to do that!

  • From the Middle - EA College Football Hot Tub Juice In & Of Itself
#089. Time to get silly! We take a moment to wind down from a couple of big time interviews to hang out with each other and see what comes out of our mouths. The result gets off to a weird start and we are not ashamed even if Kendall should be. We then discuss how winter has taken over much of the country, laundry, then Dillon shares what's probably the best news of his life since the birth of his daughter: EA Sports is bringing back a college football game! We then learn about why a bunch of dudes had odd headgear during the Super Bowl. We finish by discussing In & Of Itself, a one man show which has found well deserved popularity in the streaming venue. We enjoy having these discussions and really feel like we're having them with each of you. If you'd like to respond, please visit our main landing page (link below) or call our new phone number to leave a message which we may play and respond to in a future episode! Until next week, we hope to see you around the interwebs!

  • From the Middle - Inside Inside Jokes and Stand-up Today with Kellen Erskine
#088. Kellen Erskine is a comedian who has earned some industry respect via his talent being showcased at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, the most prestigious event in the business. He has also appeared on Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, America's Got Talent, and has a special from Dry Bar Comedy on Amazon Prime. From the Middle is pleased to be settled at the bottom of his list of appearances. In our usual form, we were curious about the inner workings of such a career. A few years ago, Kellen was followed around for the Amazon series, Inside Jokes. The depiction of a journey toward success and how his family supported his efforts led us to more questions, which he was kind enough to answer. Listen in as we learn more about traveling, family, joke construction, and experience as it pertains to Kellen's already bright career. And join us as we look forward to watching the rest of his work unfold as a comedian and writer. Thank you, Kellen. This was fun.

  • From the Middle - Preparedness and Opportunity Met with AG Ford
#087. To say AG Ford is an accomplished illustrator would be an understatement. In this episode we enjoy the opportunity to chat with a New York Times best selling illustrator, and AG was quick to share the wisdom he has gathered on his passion to profession journey. From children's books featuring Barack Obama and Johnny Cash to modern day classics in the Construction Site and Magic Tree House series, his resume speaks for itself. More importantly, AG shows us how his resume is reflective of the dedication, flexibility, and grit that he garners when he focuses on something in front of him. We follow his path from early childhood to future dreams. Hopefully you find some encouragement or some stoked fire under your goals with this one. Listen in and let us know what you are thinking!
