Fundamentals are the core and backbone for success in every aspect of life. Think about your favorite athlete, artist, or musician. What makes them so successful? Talent? Sure, each of them has talent. However, talent alone is not enough. One thing they all have in common, is the fact they have spent countless hours practicing and mastering the fundamentals in their respective fields of pursuit.
Finding success in business is no different. When entrepreneurs focus on and master the fundamentals of business, they will achieve greater success than those who do not.
In this episode, we are joined by Mark Cornelison. Mark is an attorney with the law firm Maynes Taggart, and he specializes in helping businesses restructure and navigate the muddy waters of bankruptcy. Basically, he deals with businesses where the owners have not focused on or mastered key business fundamentals.
What started out as a lunch conversation between Mark and Darin about why business fundamentals are so important, is now an episode everyone should listen to. Mark shares what his experience has shown him regarding why businesses fail. He also discusses how many of the reasons businesses fail are more a result of internal factors rather than external (i.e. economic) factors. Finally, Mark shares the key fundamentals every business owner should focus on.
