From Thursday night's show, LIVE exclusively on Twitch (Twitch.TV/GallantSays): I've covered the Astros. I've covered the Mariners. Am I allowed to root for both? Plus, Kyler Murray is playing hardball [again] with the Cardinals, Baker Mayfield thinks he may be a Seahawk, and the Seahawks believe they'll be fine in a post Wilson/Wagner world because of "culture." And to wrap it all up, Paul tries to figure out what the hell happened in a soccer fight!
I opened the show explaining how he's still a low functioning adult, this time with a tale about a trip to MULTIPLE DMVs today. Somehow, the Astros game wasn't done by the time things started, so I did box score hot takes. I hate how the national media has come down on Patrick Beverley for...celebrating winning a basketball game? Plus, more thoughts on hardos in sports, an incredible moment in soccer, and tough guy actors blustering!
I shared some thoughts on the late comic Gilbert Gottfried (0:36), explained why I think the Houston Texans will draft a cornerback in the first round (6:42), and wonder why the Seahawks have had so many problems historically at tight end (12:41). Plus, it must suck to be a Cincinnati Reds fan (23:39), and we're in the midst of a wanking on planes epidemic(29:00)!
The Astros won their first game (0:50) and bullied one of their critics (4:08). The Yankees took a massive loss today, and you can DEFINITELY blame it on Brian Cashman(9:42). I also explained why I'm no longer a Red Sox fan (13:28) before returning to crush the Yankees hype trailer for 2022 (17:25). Plus, Nikola Jokic didn't recognize Ciara (24:28), a bad take on Air Conditioning (26:29), and a woman tried to get out of jury duty using her "sugar daddy" as an excuse (30:15).
I think I'm the world's worst 33 year old adult. How do people do...anything? (0:40). But I am good at TV, and I was happy to do it again for the first time in 2.5 years today. Am I an asshole to be bitter about no Seattle stations having me on? Plus, I still want Carlos Correa back. (3:58) Baseball is getting stuffed in a locker by Tiger Woods at the Masters. (6:52) Former #Texans LB Whitney Mercilus retired. He had a good career. But PLEASE don't tell me he belongs in any Ring of Honor. Which led me to this idea: the SARCASTIC Texans ring of honor (12:53). Meanwhile, the Seahawks have their eye on a rookie QB, and on paper it makes sense (20:30). Is Will Smith...better than Ezra 😎? (27:08) Finally, a quick dive into an abyss of kiss-ass tweets to...Mr. T? (31:10)
I led off the show talking about Dads and how great they are (0:36). I'm also REALLY enjoying Winning Time on HBO, even though it's extremely melodramatized. (6:26). The Astros might be the best team in baseball over the past decade, but we've got some concerns about them going into opening day, right? (17:31). Paul live watches an ABC exclusively EXCLUSIVE exclusive about Will Smith's slap (24:55). Finally, Paul talks about the NFL's most recent attempt to promote diversity, and a hatchet job on Pete Carroll courtesy of Deadspin (30:24).
Statistically, Kansas pulled off the greatest comeback in NCAA title game history. But do we really consider it the best one? And what is the best comeback in sports history?(0:21) NCAA CEO Mark Emmert kept doing Mark Emmert things after the national championship, and it had me wondering who's the worst commissioner in sports?(12:33) Plus, the MLB is actually incorporating a good idea into the sport (23:03), and more players are talking about the Astros stealing signs (25:44). Incredibly, one of them actually defended them, and he's the last person you'd expect!
From Friday's LIVE show on Twitch (Twitch.TV/GallantSays): Chris Rock didn't go hard enough at Will Smith in his first public appearance since the slap (0:37). DK Metcalf might be ripped AF, but the man eats like shit (5:51). James Harden is having a really bad week (14:55). The US made the World Cup, and is in the same group as a bunch of actual rivals! USA! USA! (19:52). And if your significant other roots for a team other than yours, are you obligated to root for said team when they're not playing your squad? (27:59)
From Thursday's episode LIVE on Twitch (Twitch.TV/GallantSays): Sports like this are boring to watch. But what if we sprinkle in some Oscars-eque violence?(1:26). Speaking of the Oscars slap, did you know that slapping is a sport?(6:10). Former Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner signed with the Rams (11:16). It sure seems like Tom Brady forced out Bruce Arians (17:27). And yet another New York Yankee is whining about being cheated in 2017 (24:43).
From today's show LIVE on Twitch (Twitch.TV/GallantSays):
- The NFL is rattling their saber about the Deshaun Watson contract. Do you buy them?
- How will that contract affect what Lamar Jackson could get?
- It's getting harder and harder to believe Pete Carroll these days...
- Plus, frickin' laser beams!
