This week we welcome Johnny McRight, a renowned soil scientist and owner of DeltAg, a Mississippi company that helps farmers grow their best crops. Johnny has helped farmers from across the South and Mid-West for the last 45 years answer questions while developing products that improve soil and plant nutrition. If you want your food plots to be all they can be, this podcast is a must listen. Johnny explains pH, and puts the quantity of lime needed into perspective better than we have ever heard. Learn the correct way to pull a sample, why crop residue is important, soil microbes, no till, and everything in between. A successful food plot starts with the soil and Johnny knows his soils. This one will help you become a better Gamekeeper! Enjoy!

In late January, the duck hunting community was shocked when the news broke out of Reelfoot Lake that two duck hunters had been killed, and a manhunt for the alleged killer was underway. Rumors ran rampant, especially when the body of the suspect was recovered. Now that the dust has settled, we've learned the truth is different than what rumors led most hunters to believe. But the murders still leave many unanswered questions. The Gamekeeper Podcast welcomes Outdoor Life Senior Deputy Editor Natalie Krebs, who interviewed the only witness, and other Reelfoot hunters, to write a very compelling story of the events that occurred that fateful day. A GoFundMe has been set up for the families and funeral expenses of the two men who were killed. To donate, click here. (http://bit.ly/Reelfoot-Support)

This week we welcome our good friend Jason Hart of Nomad Outdoor, to discuss the recent completion of the U.S. Slam where he killed a turkey in all 49 states they inhabit. With a Mississippi bird being the final chapter, Jason and Neill Haas brilliantly drop the long beard on our studio’s table, and then share hunting stories from his US turkey slam. It’s interesting to learn what all went on behind the scenes to make this monumental event occur. We also test his camouflage knowledge with a quiz on the original bottomland pattern- and you’ll never guess what popular movie inspired Jason to get into hunting. Enjoy!

On this week’s podcast we welcome back our favorite Doctor, Dr. Michael Chamberlain, also known as the “Wild Turkey Doc”. The Doc answers our questions on how he became so passionate about wild turkeys, what has he learned in his research that makes him a better hunter, and talk specifics on predator control. The Doc reveals a question about roost locations and dispels myths we’ve all heard. Also discussed is the delicate balance between conservation and hunting and how one can’t exist without the other. If you’re passionate about conserving and hunting the wild turkey, it doesn’t get much better than this. Enjoy!

This week Mossy Oak’s own Daniel and Neill Haas sit down “Between the Turkeys” and discuss turkey hunting experiences with their grandfather, Mr. Fox Haas and their dad Toxey. The conversation starts at their first turkeys and covers Mr. Fox's legacy of restoring wild turkeys to Clay County, Mississippi. Later, the interesting details of the original Mossy Oak tree are discussed. Trust us, this is a fun one with plenty of laughs but it's also is a touching display of love and respect for family. When Bobby asks Lannie and Dudley, what did we learn today? We believe the answer is how to be a better person. Enjoy.
