Governor Gavin Newsom signed several landmark gun control bills into law but acknowledged there will likely be legal challenges that could make it to the Supreme Court. The measures include limiting where concealed weapons can be carried in public, imposing a first-of-its-kind state excise tax on firearm sales and requiring that certain guns contain technology that makes it easier to trace ammunition back to a gun owner.
