Back in the 80's Bob Geldof, a singer and activist started Band Aid to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. Whether it was intentional or not, that started a wave of celebrity activism that raised millions for various causes and created a few number-one music hits as well. In this Backtrack, we take a look at some of the great work done and remember what it felt like to see it unfold live. About This Episode

I won't say that Generation X had the silliest novelty songs, but we sure had a ton of them! Such classics as "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah," "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," and "Monster Mash" were at the top of our hit list when we were kids! In this episode, we talk about some of the unique songs and unique methods of how we got them. Remember, no internet back then, we actually got records in cereal boxes if you can believe that!

About This Episode

They were dark, noisy, and not usually very clean, but we still loved going to video game arcades. In this backtrack we talk about the experience of the arcade: from scrounging for quarters under seat cushions to how we chose which games to play. It's definitely something that had its day and will probably never be back but is still the source of many memories for GenX'ers.

I didn’t ask for much as a kid but the exception was when the Scholastic Book Fair was coming to my school! They had so many books that it was difficult to choose! Many of us developed our love for reading back then, so join us as we look back at some of the book experiences we had growing up in Generation X!

When Generation X dreamed about the future, we pictured either a technological paradise with flying cars, helpful robots, no illness and rocket ships or we pictured a wasteland brought on by some human action. Neither came true (luckily in the latter), but we're still a ways off from where we thought we would be by now. In this Backtrack we look at what we thought the future would hold and discuss some of the things we thought we would have and don't, and what we have that we never would have predicted.
