In the heart of Aotearoa, a Māori land occupation at Puke Ariki ignites tensions across activists, police, politicians, and whānau, each fighting for their truths. At the centre are five lives that collide in tragedy;
- Willa (Ariana Osborne; Madam, Mārama) – A rising Māori musician, struggling with her whakapapa and place in the movement.
- Miki (Jayden Daniels; Whina, Head High, Evil Dead Rise) – A father and activist, desperate to protect his son.
- Adrian (Yoson An; Mulan, The Luminaries, Dead Lucky) – A Chinese-Kiwi cop, caught between duty and identity.
- Ahorangi (Nicola Kāwana; One Lane Bridge, In Dark Places, Fresh Meat) – A Māori government minister, walking the thin line between tradition and politics.
- Hinewai (Shavaughn Ruakere; River Queen, The Legend of Baron To’a, Shortland Street) – A nurse and mother, sacrificing everything for her people.
Unravelling over just one hour, each episode follows the five characters for eight minutes. Their stories intertwine through personal struggles, political turmoil, and a devastating terrorist attack, one that will leave scars on their community forever.
