Publisher's Summary:
Essential oils have been around for thousands of years, helping ancient cultures to cure ills, to reduce pain, and feel invigorated. Although we in the West have traditionally used medication to help us feel better, more and more people are now realizing that essential oils can play a significant part in our health too.
Essential oils can be used to:
I have used essential oils for nearly 20 years. Using them when I needed a boost in confidence during my later teens and early twenties, I discovered that oils have many other uses too. Fast forward 20 years, and I'm still using oils to help me lead a less stressful, and less painful life. Added to carrier oils, or used in the bath or shower, I find the oils I use not only make life a little easier, but they add a touch of luxury too.
Using just a few drops of essential oils when you need them can help to make a difference in your physical and mental well-being. You don't need to spend a lot of money, you don't need to rely on medication alone; you can use oils to help treat a range of conditions, or to simply help you relax a little more.

A good primer on Essential oils
I've read this through and it's very good. It explains all about essential oil uses, and is easy to understand.
If you think that essential oils are all about "smell" or 'scent' you are truly missing the mark.
Essential oils have been TESTED SCIENTICALLY and found to have specific medicinal and other (example: insecticidal) properties. I use essential oils INTEAD of insecticides.
Know this: The FDA is VERY strict on what can be said about essential oils. That translates into companies 'skirting' the issues, and not claiming any medicinal value. I'm not saying this shouldn't be the case, I'm merely stating the legal position of the companies' claim with regard to the FDA.
However, I started my own journey as a true non believer. I didn't realize the 1) strength, or the 2) value of these products. I started getting involved in essential oils because two or three people at my church suffer with chemical (man made scents, like perfumes, and scented lotions) sensitivities. A friend suggested E.O's -- and it was amazing how it helped one of them. Now, I've done the research, and I am a believer.
And here is my story:
I've been retired for 3 and 1/2 years--in my last year I had bronchitis 4 or 5 times. Not fun. Each time requiring a doctor visit, and serious antibiotics. Since handling essential oils--I've only had 1 normal cold (it was at a time when I wasn't using essential oils).
So, do your own research on the properties of these oils, and try it for yourself. This book is a good starting place.
The Essential Handbook
This book showed me how to roll out a little improvement in my eating regimen keeping in mind the end goal to have a more advantageous life. I understood that as opposed to putting myself on a truly strict eating regimen, only a couple changes to the way I eat would have any kind of effect. This is through utilizing this coconut oil set up of different fats.
