Members Reviews:
Exactly as Advertised - Timeless, Good Quality, Tons of Illustrations
The Complete Chronicles of Narnia (text only) by C. S. Lewis,P. BaynesI bought this copy because for one, I personally did not want a "movie tie-in" version, I wanted to have a hardcover edition that contained all of the books in one that I could keep for years and pass down to my children - in short, good quality, tasteful, with pictures.
It was described as being "Used - Good", but it arrived in excellent condition (no noticeable tears on the book itself with only slight page wear). This version came with a book jacket which is identical to the hard cover itself, so I threw away the jacket which was well worn. Also, the book description says "text only", which is strange, because this copy has tons of the original illustrations in full-color (I'll try to post pictures soon).
I feel like I hit the jackpot with this purchase and I highly encourage everyone to get this copy ASAP, because I've noticed the price of the "all-in-one" books skyrocketing lately (Barnes and Noble used to have a "leather"-bound copy for $20 three years ago which is $100 now). I sure hope these books don't go out of print, but if they do, you'll be glad you purchased this particular version, because it'll be passed down the family.
Beautiful set!
This is a beautiful paperback box set of the Narnia collection, that so many of us grew up with. The covers are nice, thick and protective of the pages inside, which are of good paper stock. I have no print fading or errors that I've noticed.
The art on the outter box is beautiful on all sides, with a little read up at the top. For paperbacks, I believe this is the way to go! Highly recommended!
Return to Narnia
Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy, a year after leaving Narnia, are on their way back to school when they are suddenly, magically, pulled to what they eventually realize are the ruins of Cair Paravel. Centuries have passed in Narnia since the children left and now many no longer believe in Aslan or even that the children themselves ever existed. Some Narnians are trying to orchestrate a return to Old Narnia, but they need the children to help them to succeed.
I really liked Prince Caspian. There is a lot of action. It is fun to see how things have changed over the many Narnian years since the children were last there. I recommend it.
Good Buy
Shipping was really good only took 6 days to arrive shipping from the UK. The artwork is not as shown, but the new artwork does grow on you. At first I was against the artwork and thought of sending it back, but decided to keep it. Also, all the books are pretty much the same size (between 130-145 pages) so the font in each book varies. For example, The Horse and His Boy is a longer book in the series, but the publisher made the font smaller as to make the book similar in size to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
