Ignoring time is a little idea I’ve been playing around with recently.
Interesting conversations starts on Sunday! Listen to the trailer here.
I recently read The Big Leap, and it talks about a concept that we create our own time
Einstein time - an idea I still don’t fully understand
The problem with always paying attention to time:
Pressure to get things done
We always feel like we’re running out of time
This problem somewhat disappears when we try and ignore time
I’ve found this the most helpful when I’m really rushed for time: particularly on a morning
I’ve been trying to ignore the time and just do the things I need to get done
So instead of thinking “I only have 20 minutes to complete X”, I instead think “I have to complete X, no matter how long it takes”
I’ve also been trying to drop the idea of “I haven’t got time to do X”, trying to remove it from my vocabulary
Instead, I say: “I didn’t get that done.” OR “I didn’t want to do it”
It wasn’t time’s fault I didn’t get it done, it was my fault for not wanting to do it.
That’s why when you really need to do something for the day after, you’ll somehow manage to squeeze it in.
I’m still exploring the idea, but I thought it’s worth sharing. It has more power that it seems to have at first, once you become aware of how much time we spend worrying about time
