    Bizarrely insighful garbage
The genre is garbage. The obvious plot of the book is garbage. The characters are over-the-top garbage. Still, Hunter (is that your real name, Jack? Jack D. Ripper is more believable) writes with an educated hand and inserts enough humor and accurate observations of human nature to make this book, for moments, transcend its garbage status. Then you're back to the bread and butter of this genre, which is shifty Soviet agents, cynical Germans, dangerous sluts and lots of lurid and very cheesy violence. I cannot claim this book is other than garbage, and from a garbage genre. It has no redeeming features to its plot or characters. Still, the writing is good enough, if you're going to read garbage from this garbage genre (as many of you will) this one is a droolingly hilarious secondhand find. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes garbage written by ironic, overeducated slackers like Jack D. Hunter, who is probably a housewife named Priscilla from Minneapolis.

4 Hours? It's an article not a book
Adore Gerald Seymour but object to paying that much for four hours. Four hours is an article, a radio play, a short story. Not a book.

    Exciting book
For a first novel this book is brilliant, it's the kind of book once you start you will not want to put it down, you are never sure what is going to happen next. Based in the trouble strewn Sierra Leone it has you rooting for the good guys and gives a great insight
into the underlying issues and challenges in the grey market of "blood diamonds".
A great read, good twists and turns.

Could not really get into it
I found it a bit like a mediocre action film. Entertaining enough, but I did not care too much for the characters. I also had to have a bit of a laugh at the (thankfully small amout of) "Scottish" accent.
    The Dealer
Very entertaining. Kept my interest and was informative as to the art of card scams. I recommend.

I try very hard to give each narrator the benefit of trying to get past any objections to their style, however I have firmly put this narrator on my list of "I would rather rip my eyeballs out of their sockets before ever listening to her again". Please do not take my word for it, do some research for yourself. Other people have expressed similar opinions on other books she has read! By the way, this is my first review. I only thought that other narrators could be a bit annoying, this lady is in a league of her own.... The story is pretty bad as well. I suffered through less than half before I realized what a bad mood the narrator AND the book were inflicting on me. I won't make the mistake of looking at the title and thinking "oh that sounds interesting" Live and Learn.
    ErRatic
I have listened to numerous audible books over the years, and the worst by far. The story was so boring that about half way through I finally admited defeat to stopped listening.
    Narrator
I paid a lot of money to listen to this excellent audio book and the narrator ruined it. She draws out each word so slowly with perfect pronunciation and I wound up clenching my jaw until I could stand it no longer. I stopped listening to the audio book because she was so irritating and I will finish the book when I can find it in paperback.

    Whiny Heroine
Why pray tell, must we have Scarpaci's heroine be so whiny and do things without thought of consequences? Women are stronger and smarter than this.I'd like a real woman who doesn't whine.

    Don't buy this
What a rip off! It is a play, read in the same voice, so you can't tell the characters apart easily, and its bad writing to boot. This might have worked into a decent story, but its just a "sketch" of an idea. I didn't notice how short it was, either.
I only gave it one star so I could get to the rest. I would have given it 0 stars if it were possible.
    Thumbs Up
This is a fresh science fiction concept in a well-executed story.
